John 19
1At that timeΤότεthereforeοὖνtookἔλαβενὁPilateΠιλᾶτοςτὸνJesusἸησοῦνandκαὶflogged [Him]ἐμαστίγωσεν.
2Andκαὶtheοἱsoldiersστρατιῶταιhaving twisted togetherπλέξαντεςa crownστέφανονofἐξthornsἀκανθῶνput [it] onἐπέθηκανof Himαὐτοῦtheτῇheadκεφαλῇ,andκαὶa robeἱμάτιονpurpleπορφυροῦνcast aroundπεριέβαλονHimαὐτόν,
3andκαὶthey began coming upἤρχοντοtoπρὸςHimαὐτὸνandκαὶsayingἔλεγον·HailΧαῖρε,ὁKingβασιλεὺςof theτῶνJewsἸουδαίων·Andκαὶthey kept givingἐδίδοσανHimαὐτῷblows with the palmῥαπίσματα.
4Andκαὶwent forthἐξῆλθενagainπάλινoutsideἔξωὁPilateΠιλᾶτοςandκαὶhe saysλέγειto themαὐτοῖς·BeholdἼδεI bringἄγωto youὑμῖνHimαὐτὸνoutἔξω,so thatἵναyou may knowγνῶτεthatὅτιnoοὐδεμίανguiltαἰτίανI findεὑρίσκωinἐνHimαὐτῷ.
5Went forthἐξῆλθενthereforeοὖνὁJesusἸησοῦςoutsideἔξω,wearingφορῶνtheτὸνthornyἀκάνθινονcrownστέφανονandκαὶtheτὸpurpleπορφυροῦνrobeἱμάτιον.Andκαὶhe saysλέγειto themαὐτοῖς·BeholdἸδοὺtheὁmanἄνθρωπος.
6WhenὅτεthereforeοὖνsawεἶδονHimαὐτὸνtheοἱchief priestsἀρχιερεῖςandκαὶtheοἱofficersὑπηρέταιthey cried outἐκραύγασανsayingλέγοντες·CrucifyΣταύρωσονCrucifyσταύρωσον.Saysλέγειto themαὐτοῖςὁPilateΠιλᾶτος·TakeΛάβετεHimαὐτὸνyourselvesὑμεῖςandκαὶcrucify [Him]σταυρώσατε,IἐγὼforγὰρnoοὐχfindεὑρίσκωinἐνHimαὐτῷguiltαἰτίαν.
7AnsweredἀπεκρίθησανhimαὐτῷtheοἱJewsἸουδαῖοι·WeἩμεῖςa lawνόμονhaveἔχομεν,andκαὶaccording toκατὰtheτὸνlawνόμονHe oughtὀφείλειto dieἀποθανεῖν,becauseὅτι[the] Sonυἱὸνof GodθεοῦHimselfἑαυτὸνHe madeἐποίησεν.
8WhenὍτεthereforeοὖνheardἤκουσενὁPilateΠιλᾶτοςthisτοῦτοντὸνwordλόγον,[the] moreμᾶλλονhe was afraidἐφοβήθη,
9Andκαὶhe wentεἰσῆλθενintoεἰςtheτὸPraetoriumπραιτώριονagainπάλινandκαὶhe saysλέγειτῷto JesusἸησοῦ·From whereΠόθενareεἶYouσύ;ὁButδὲJesusἸησοῦςan answerἀπόκρισινnotοὐκdid giveἔδωκενhimαὐτῷ.
10Saysλέγειthereforeοὖνto HimαὐτῷὁPilateΠιλᾶτος·To meἘμοὶnotοὐspeak Youλαλεῖς;Notοὐκknow YouοἶδαςthatὅτιauthorityἐξουσίανI haveἔχωto releaseἀπολῦσαίYouσεandκαὶauthorityἐξουσίανI haveἔχωto crucifyσταυρῶσαίYouσε;
11AnsweredἀπεκρίθηhimαὐτῷJesusἸησοῦς·NotΟὐκyou would haveεἶχεςauthorityἐξουσίανalsoκατ’Meἐμοῦagainstοὐδεμίανifεἰnotμὴit wereἦνgivenδεδομένονto youσοιfrom aboveἄνωθεν·Because ofδιὰthisτοῦτοthe [one]ὁhaving delivered upπαραδούςMeμέto youσοιgreaterμείζοναsinἁμαρτίανhasἔχει.
12Out ofἐκthisτούτουὁPilateΠιλᾶτοςwas seekingἐζήτειto releaseἀπολῦσαιHimαὐτόν·οἱbutδὲthe JewsἸουδαῖοιcried outἐκραύγασανsayingλέγοντες·IfἘὰνthis [man]τοῦτονyou releaseἀπολύσῃς,notοὐκyou areεἶa friendφίλοςτοῦof CaesarΚαίσαρος·Everyoneπᾶςὁa kingβασιλέαhimselfἑαυτὸνmakingποιῶνspeaks againstἀντιλέγειτῷCaesarΚαίσαρι.
13ὉThereforeοὖνPilateΠιλᾶτοςhaving heardἀκούσαςtheτῶνwordsλόγωνtheseτούτωνbroughtἤγαγενoutἔξωτὸνJesusἸησοῦν,andκαὶsat downἐκάθισενuponἐπὶ[the] judgment seatβήματοςatεἰςa placeτόπονcalledλεγόμενον[the] Stone PavementΛιθόστρωτον,in HebrewἙβραϊστὶnowδὲGabbathaΓαββαθα.
14It wasἦνnowδὲthe Day of Preparationπαρασκευὴof theτοῦPassoverπάσχα,[the] hourὥραwasἦνaboutὡςthe sixthἕκτη.Andκαὶhe saysλέγειto theτοῖςJewsἸουδαίοις·BeholdἼδεtheὁkingβασιλεὺςof youὑμῶν.
15They cried outἐκραύγασανthereforeοὖνWith Himἐκεῖνοι·awayἎρονawayἆρον,CrucifyσταύρωσονHimαὐτόν.Saysλέγειto themαὐτοῖςὁPilateΠιλᾶτος·TheΤὸνKingβασιλέαof youὑμῶνshall I crucifyσταυρώσω;Answeredἀπεκρίθησανtheοἱchief priestsἀρχιερεῖς·NotΟὐκwe haveἔχομενa kingβασιλέαifεἰnotμὴCaesarΚαίσαρα.
16Thenτότεthereforeοὖνhe deliveredπαρέδωκενHimαὐτὸνto themαὐτοῖςthatἵναHe might be crucifiedσταυρωθῇ.They tookΠαρέλαβονthereforeοὖντὸνJesusἸησοῦν·
17Andκαὶbearingβαστάζων[His] ownαὑτῷτὸνcrossσταυρὸνHe went outἐξῆλθενtoεἰςtheτὸνcalledλεγόμενονof the SkullΚρανίουPlaceΤόπον,whichὃis calledλέγεταιin HebrewἙβραϊστὶGolgothaΓολγοθα,
18whereὅπουHimαὐτὸνthey crucifiedἐσταύρωσαν,andκαὶwithμετ’Himαὐτοῦothersἄλλουςtwoδύοon this sideἐντεῦθενandκαὶon that sideἐντεῦθεν,in betweenμέσονnowδὲτὸνJesusἸησοῦν.
19Wroteἔγραψενthenδὲalsoκαὶa titleτίτλονὁPilateΠιλᾶτοςandκαὶput [it]ἔθηκενonἐπὶtheτοῦcrossσταυροῦ·It wasἦνnowδὲwrittenγεγραμμένον·JesusἸησοῦςofὁNazarethΝαζωραῖοςtheὁKingβασιλεὺςof theτῶνJewsἸουδαίων.
20Thisτοῦτονthereforeοὖνtheτὸνtitleτίτλονmanyπολλοὶreadἀνέγνωσανof theτῶνJewsἸουδαίων,forὅτιnearἐγγὺςwasἦνtheὁplaceτόποςtheτῆςcityπόλεωςwhereὅπουwas crucifiedἐσταυρώθηὁJesusἸησοῦς·andκαὶit wasἦνwrittenγεγραμμένονin HebrewἙβραϊστί,in LatinῬωμαϊστί,in GreekἙλληνιστί.
21Were sayingἔλεγονthereforeοὖντῷto PilateΠιλάτῳtheοἱchief priestsἀρχιερεῖςof theτῶνJewsἸουδαίων·NotΜὴwriteγράφε·TheὉKingβασιλεὺςof theτῶνJewsἸουδαίων,butἀλλ’thatὅτιHeἐκεῖνοςsaidεἶπενKingΒασιλεὺςof theτῶνJewsἸουδαίωνI amεἰμί.
22AnsweredἀπεκρίθηὁPilateΠιλᾶτος·WhatὋI have writtenγέγραφαI have writtenγέγραφα.
23Theοἱthenοὖνsoldiersστρατιῶταιwhenὅτεthey crucifiedἐσταύρωσαντὸνJesusἸησοῦνtookἔλαβονtheτὰgarmentsἱμάτιαof Himαὐτοῦandκαὶmadeἐποίησανfourτέσσαραpartsμέρη,to eachἑκάστῳsoldierστρατιώτῃa partμέρος,and alsoκαὶtheτὸνtunicχιτῶνα.Wasἦνnowδὲtheὁtunicχιτὼνseamlessἄραφος,fromἐκtheτῶνtopἄνωθενwovenὑφαντὸςthroughoutδι’allὅλου·
24They saidεἶπανthereforeοὖνtoπρὸςone anotherἀλλήλους·NotΜὴlet us tear upσχίσωμενitαὐτόν,butἀλλὰlet us cast lotsλάχωμενforπερὶitαὐτοῦwhoseτίνοςit will beἔσται·thatἵναtheἡScriptureγραφὴmight be fulfilledπληρωθῇthe oneἡsaysλέγουσα·They dividedΔιεμερίσαντοtheτὰgarmentsἱμάτιάof Meμουamong themἑαυτοῖςandκαὶforἐπὶtheτὸνclothingἱματισμόνof Meμουthey castἔβαλονa lotκλῆρον.TheΟἱindeedμὲνthereforeοὖνsoldiersστρατιῶταιthese thingsταῦταdidἐποίησαν.
25Had been standingΕἱστήκεισανnowδὲbyπαρὰtheτῷcrossσταυρῷτοῦof JesusἸησοῦtheἡmotherμήτηρof Himαὐτοῦandκαὶtheἡsisterἀδελφὴof theτῆςmotherμητρὸςof Himαὐτοῦ,MaryΜαρίαthe [wife]ἡτοῦof ClopasΚλωπᾶandκαὶMaryΜαρίαἡMagdaleneΜαγδαληνή.
26JesusἸησοῦςthereforeοὖνhaving seenἰδὼν[His]τὴνmotherμητέραandκαὶtheτὸνdiscipleμαθητὴνstanding byπαρεστῶταwhomὃνHe lovedἠγάπαsaysλέγειtoτῇ[His] motherμητρί·WomanΓύναι,beholdἴδεtheὁsonυἱόςof youσου·
27ThenεἶταHe saysλέγειto theτῷdiscipleμαθητῇ·BeholdἼδεtheἡmotherμήτηρof youσου.Andκαὶfromἀπ’thatἐκείνηςτῆςhourὥραςtookἔλαβενtheὁdiscipleμαθητὴςherαὐτὴνtoεἰςtheτὰownἴδια.
28AfterΜετὰthisτοῦτοknowingεἰδὼςὁJesusἸησοῦςthatὅτιnowἤδηall thingsπάνταhad been accomplishedτετέλεσταιso thatἵναmight be fulfilledτελειωθῇtheἡScriptureγραφὴHe saysλέγει·I thirstΔιψῶ.
29A vesselσκεῦοςhad been set [there]ἔκειτοof sour wineὄξουςfullμεστόν·a spongeσπόγγονthereforeοὖνfilledμεστὸνwithτοῦsour wineὄξουςa stalk of hyssopὑσσώπῳhaving put onπεριθέντεςthey broughtπροσήνεγκανitαὐτοῦto theτῷmouthστόματι.
30Whenὅτεthereforeοὖνtookἔλαβενtheτὸsour wineὄξοςὁJesusἸησοῦςHe saidεἶπεν·It has been finishedΤετέλεσται,Andκαὶhaving bowedκλίναςtheτὴνheadκεφαλὴνHe yielded upπαρέδωκενtheτὸspiritπνεῦμα.
31ΟἱThereforeοὖνthe JewsἸουδαῖοι,becauseἐπεὶ[the] Preparationπαρασκευὴit wasἦν,so thatἵναnotμὴwould remainμείνῃonἐπὶtheτοῦcrossσταυροῦtheτὰbodiesσώματαonἐνtheτῷSabbathσαββάτῳ,wasἦνforγὰρa highμεγάληἡdayἡμέραthatἐκείνουτοῦSabbathσαββάτου,askedἠρώτησαντὸνPilateΠιλᾶτονthatἵναmight be brokenκατεαγῶσινtheirαὐτῶντὰlegsσκέληandκαὶthey might be taken awayἀρθῶσιν.
32Cameἦλθονthereforeοὖνtheοἱsoldiersστρατιῶται,andκαὶof theτοῦindeedμὲνfirstπρώτουbrokeκατέαξανtheτὰlegsσκέληandκαὶof theτοῦotherἄλλουτοῦhaving been crucified withσυσταυρωθέντοςHimαὐτῷ·
33toἐπὶhoweverδὲτὸνJesusἸησοῦνhaving comeἐλθόντες,whenὡςthey sawεἶδονalreadyἤδηHimαὐτὸνhaving been deadτεθνηκότα,notοὐthey did breakκατέαξανHisαὐτοῦτὰlegsσκέλη,
34Butἀλλ’oneεἷςof theτῶνsoldiersστρατιωτῶνwith a spearλόγχῃHisαὐτοῦτὴνsideπλευρὰνpiercedἔνυξεν,andκαὶcame outἐξῆλθενimmediatelyεὐθὺςbloodαἷμαandκαὶwaterὕδωρ.
35Andκαὶthe [one]ὁhaving seenἑωρακὼςhas borne witnessμεμαρτύρηκεν,andκαὶtrueἀληθινὴof himαὐτοῦisἐστινtheἡtestimonyμαρτυρία,AndκαὶHeἐκεῖνοςknowsοἶδενthatὅτιtruthἀληθῆhe is speakingλέγει,thatἵναalsoκαὶyouὑμεῖςmight believeπιστεύητε.
36Took placeἐγένετοforγὰρthese thingsταῦταso thatἵναtheἡScriptureγραφὴmight be fulfilledπληρωθῇ·BoneὈστοῦνnot oneοὐwill be brokenσυντριβήσεταιof Himαὐτοῦ.
37AndκαὶagainπάλινanotherἑτέραScriptureγραφὴsaysλέγει·They will lookὌψονταιonεἰςthe [One]ὃνthey have piercedἐξεκέντησαν.
38AfterΜετὰthenδὲthese thingsταῦταaskedἠρώτησεντὸνPilateΠιλᾶτονJosephἸωσὴφfromἀπὸArimatheaἉριμαθαίας,beingὢνa discipleμαθητὴςτοῦof JesusἸησοῦconcealedκεκρυμμένοςhoweverδὲthroughδιὰtheτὸνfearφόβονof theτῶνJewsἸουδαίων,thatἵναhe might take awayἄρῃtheτὸbodyσῶματοῦof JesusἸησοῦ·andκαὶgave permissionἐπέτρεψενὁPilateΠιλᾶτος.He cameἦλθενthereforeοὖνandκαὶtook awayἦρενtheτὸbodyσῶμαof Himαὐτοῦ.
39CameἦλθενnowδὲalsoκαὶNicodemusΝικόδημος,the [one]ὁhaving comeἐλθὼνtoπρὸςHimαὐτὸνby nightνυκτὸςat theτὸfirstπρῶτον,bearingφέρωνa mixtureμίγμαof myrrhσμύρνηςandκαὶaloesἀλόηςaboutὡςlitrasλίτραςa hundredἑκατόν.
40They tookἔλαβονthereforeοὖνtheτὸbodyσῶματοῦof JesusἸησοῦandκαὶboundἔδησανitαὐτὸin linen clothsὀθονίοιςwithμετὰtheτῶνspicesἀρωμάτων,asκαθὼς[the] customἔθοςisἐστὶνamong theτοῖςJewsἸουδαίοιςto prepare for burialἐνταφιάζειν.
41There wasἦνnowδὲinἐνtheτῷplaceτόπῳwhereὅπουHe was crucifiedἐσταυρώθηa gardenκῆπος,andκαὶinἐνtheτῷgardenκήπῳa tombμνημεῖονnewκαινόν,inἐνwhichᾧnot yetοὐδέπωno oneοὐδεὶςwasἦνlaidτεθειμένος·
42Thereἐκεῖthereforeοὖνon account ofδιὰtheτὴνPreparationπαρασκευὴνof theτῶνJewsἸουδαίων,becauseὅτιnearἐγγὺςwasἦνtheτὸtombμνημεῖον,they laidἔθηκαντὸνJesusἸησοῦν.
