John 15
1IἘγώamεἰμιtheἡvineἄμπελοςἡtrueἀληθινή,andκαὶtheὁFatherπατήρof Meμουtheὁvinedresserγεωργόςisἐστιν·
2EveryπᾶνbranchκλῆμαinἐνMeἐμοὶnotμὴbearingφέρονfruitκαρπὸνHe takes awayαἴρειitαὐτό,andκαὶevery oneπᾶντὸfruitκαρπὸνbearingφέρονHe prunesκαθαίρειitαὐτὸthatἵναfruitκαρπὸνmoreπλείοναit may bearφέρῃ.
3Alreadyἤδηyouὑμεῖςcleanκαθαροίareἐστεby reason ofδιὰtheτὸνwordλόγονthatὃνI have spokenλελάληκαto youὑμῖν·
4AbideμείνατεinἐνMeἐμοί,and Iκἀγὼinἐνyouὑμῖν.Asκαθὼςtheτὸbranchκλῆμαnotοὐis ableδύναταιfruitκαρπὸνto bearφέρεινofἀφ’itselfἑαυτοῦifἐὰνnotμὴit abideμένῃinἐνtheτῇvineἀμπέλῳ,soοὕτωςneither [can]οὐδὲyouὑμεῖςifἐὰνnotμὴinἐνMeἐμοὶyou abideμένητε.
5Iἐγώamεἰμιtheἡvineἄμπελος,you [are]ὑμεῖςtheτὰbranchesκλήματα.The [one]ὁabidingμένωνinἐνMeἐμοὶand Iκἀγὼinἐνhimαὐτῷheοὗτοςbearsφέρειfruitκαρπὸνmuchπολύν,Forὅτιapart fromχωρὶςMeἐμοῦnotοὐyou are ableδύνασθεto doποιεῖνnothingοὐδέν.
6IfἐὰνnotμήanyoneτιςabideμένῃinἐνMeἐμοί,he is thrownἐβλήθηoutἔξωlikeὡςtheτὸbranchκλῆμαandκαὶis dried upἐξηράνθη,andκαὶthey gatherσυνάγουσινthemαὐτὰandκαὶintoεἰςtheτὸfireπῦρcastβάλλουσινandκαὶit is burnedκαίεται.
7Ifἐὰνyou abideμείνητεinἐνMeἐμοὶandκαὶtheτὰwordsῥήματάof Meμουinἐνyouὑμῖνabideμείνῃ,whateverὃifἐὰνyou wishθέλητεyou shall askαἰτήσασθεandκαὶit will come to passγενήσεταιto youὑμῖν·
8Inἐνthisτούτῳis glorifiedἐδοξάσθηtheὁFatherπατήρof Meμουthatἵναfruitκαρπὸνmuchπολὺνyou should bearφέρητεandκαὶbeγένησθεto Meἐμοὶdisciplesμαθηταί.
9Asκαθὼςhas lovedἠγάπησένMeμεtheὁFatherπατήρ,I alsoκἀγὼyouὑμᾶςhave lovedἠγάπησα,Abideμείνατεinἐνtheτῇloveἀγάπῃτῇof Meἐμῇ.
10Ifἐὰνtheτὰςcommandmentsἐντολάςof Meμουyou keepτηρήσητε,you will abideμενεῖτεinἐνtheτῇloveἀγάπῃof Meμου,asκαθὼςIἐγὼtheτὰςcommandmentsἐντολὰςtheτοῦFatherπατρόςof Meμουhave keptτετήρηκαandκαὶI abideμένωof Himαὐτοῦinἐνtheτῇloveἀγάπῃ.
11These thingsταῦταI have spokenλελάληκαto youὑμῖνthatἵναἡjoyχαρὰἡMyἐμὴinἐνyouὑμῖνmay beᾖandκαὶtheἡjoyχαρὰof youὑμῶνmay be fullπληρωθῇ.
12ThisΑὕτηisἐστὶνἡcommandmentἐντολὴἡMyἐμὴthatἵναyou loveἀγαπᾶτεone anotherἀλλήλουςasκαθὼςI lovedἠγάπησαyouὑμᾶς·
13Greaterμείζοναthan thisταύτηςloveἀγάπηνno oneοὐδεὶςhasἔχει,thatἵναoneτιςtheτὴνlifeψυχὴνof himαὐτοῦshould lay downθῇforὑπὲρtheτῶνfriendsφίλωνof himαὐτοῦ.
14Youὑμεῖςfriendsφίλοιof Meμούareἐστεifἐὰνyou doποιῆτεwhatἃIἐγὼcommandἐντέλλομαιyouὑμῖν.
15No longerοὐκέτιI callλέγωyouὑμᾶςservantsδούλους,forὅτιtheὁservantδοῦλοςnotοὐκknowsοἶδενwhatτίis doingποιεῖhisαὐτοῦὁmasterκύριος·YouὑμᾶςhoweverδὲI have calledεἴρηκαfriendsφίλους,becauseὅτιall thingsπάνταthatἃI heardἤκουσαfromπαρὰtheτοῦFatherπατρόςof MeμουI have made knownἐγνώρισαto youὑμῖν.
16NotοὐχyouὑμεῖςMeμεchoseἐξελέξασθε,butἀλλ’Iἐγὼchoseἐξελεξάμηνyouὑμᾶς,andκαὶappointedἔθηκαyouὑμᾶςthatἵναyouὑμεῖςshould goὑπάγητεandκαὶfruitκαρπὸνyou should bearφέρητεandκαὶtheὁfruitκαρπὸςof youὑμῶνshould remainμένῃ,so thatἵναὅwhatτιeverἂνyou might askαἰτήσητεtheτὸνFatherπατέραinἐνtheτῷnameὀνόματίof MeμουHe may giveδῷyouὑμῖν.
17These thingsταῦταI commandἐντέλλομαιyouὑμῖνthatἵναyou loveἀγαπᾶτεone anotherἀλλήλους.
18IfΕἰtheὁworldκόσμοςyouὑμᾶςhatesμισεῖ,you knowγινώσκετεthatὅτιMeἐμὲbeforeπρῶτονyouὑμῶνit has hatedμεμίσηκεν.
19Ifεἰofἐκtheτοῦworldκόσμουyou wereἦτε,theὁworldκόσμοςἂν[as] itsτὸownἴδιονwould love [you]ἐφίλει·becauseὅτιhoweverδὲofἐκtheτοῦworldκόσμουnotοὐκyou areἐστέ,butἀλλ’Iἐγὼchoseἐξελεξάμηνyouὑμᾶςout ofἐκtheτοῦworldκόσμου,on account ofδιὰthisτοῦτοhatesμισεῖyouὑμᾶςtheὁworldκόσμος.
20RememberμνημονεύετεtheτοῦwordλόγουthatοὗIἐγὼsaidεἶπονto youὑμῖν·NotΟὐκisἔστινa servantδοῦλοςgreater thanμείζωνtheτοῦmasterκυρίουof himαὐτοῦ·IfεἰMeἐμὲthey persecutedἐδίωξαν,alsoκαὶyouὑμᾶςthey will persecuteδιώξουσιν·ifεἰtheτὸνwordλόγονof Meμουthey keptἐτήρησαν,alsoκαὶτὸνyoursὑμέτερονthey will keepτηρήσουσιν.
21Butἀλλὰthese thingsταῦταallπάνταthey will doποιήσουσινagainstεἰςyouὑμᾶςon account ofδιὰtheτὸnameὄνομάof Meμου,becauseὅτιnotοὐκthey have knownοἴδασινthe [One]τὸνhaving sentπέμψαντάMeμε.
22IfεἰnotμὴI had comeἦλθονandκαὶspokenἐλάλησαto themαὐτοῖς,sinἁμαρτίανnotοὐκthey would have hadεἴχοσαν·nowνῦνhoweverδὲexcuseπρόφασινnotοὐκthey haveἔχουσινforπερὶtheτῆςsinἁμαρτίαςof themαὐτῶν.
23The [one]ὁMeἐμὲhatingμισῶνalsoκαὶtheτὸνFatherπατέραof Meμουhatesμισεῖ.
24IfεἰtheτὰworksἔργαnotμὴI had doneἐποίησαamongἐνthemαὐτοῖςthatἃnoοὐδεὶςotherἄλλοςhas doneἐποίησεν,sinἁμαρτίανnotοὐκthey would have hadεἴχοσαν·nowνῦνhoweverδὲbothκαὶthey have seenἑωράκασινandκαὶhave hatedμεμισήκασινbothκαὶMeἐμὲandκαὶtheτὸνFatherπατέραof Meμου.
25But [this is]ἀλλ’thatἵναmay be fulfilledπληρωθῇtheὁwordλόγοςὁinἐνtheτῷlawνόμῳof themαὐτῶνhaving been writtenγεγραμμένοςὅτιThey hatedἘμίσησάνMeμεwithout causeδωρεάν.
26WhenὍτανcomesἔλθῃtheὁHelperπαράκλητοςwhomὃνIἐγὼwill sendπέμψωto youὑμῖνfromπαρὰtheτοῦFatherπατρός,theτὸSpiritπνεῦματῆςof truthἀληθείαςwhoὃfromπαρὰtheτοῦFatherπατρὸςgoes forthἐκπορεύεται,Heἐκεῖνοςwill bear witnessμαρτυρήσειconcerningπερὶMeἐμοῦ·
27Alsoκαὶyouὑμεῖςnowδὲbear witnessμαρτυρεῖτε,becauseὅτιfromἀπ’[the] beginningἀρχῆςwithμετ’Meἐμοῦyou areἐστε.
