1ComeἌγεnowνῦν[you]οἱrichπλούσιοι,weepκλαύσατεwailingὀλολύζοντεςoverἐπὶtheταῖςmiseriesταλαιπωρίαιςupon youὑμῶνthat [are]ταῖςcomingἐπερχομέναις.
2Theὁrichesπλοῦτοςof Youὑμῶνhave rottedσέσηπεν,andκαὶtheτὰgarmentsἱμάτιαof youὑμῶνmoth-eatenσητόβρωταhave becomeγέγονεν,
3Theὁgoldχρυσὸςof youὑμῶνandκαὶtheὁsilverἄργυροςhave corrodedκατίωται,andκαὶtheὁrustἰὸςof themαὐτῶνforεἰςa testimonyμαρτύριονagainst youὑμῖνwill beἔσταιandκαὶwill eatφάγεταιtheτὰςfleshσάρκαςof youὑμῶν·likeὡςfireπῦρYou have treasured upἐθησαυρίσατεinἐν[the] lastἐσχάταιςdaysἡμέραις.
4Beholdἰδοὺtheὁwageμισθὸςof theτῶνworkmenἐργατῶντῶνhaving harvestedἀμησάντωνtheτὰςfieldsχώραςof youὑμῶνὁhaving been kept backἀφυστερημένοςbyἀφ’youὑμῶνcries outκράζει,andκαὶtheαἱcriesβοαὶof thoseτῶνhaving harvestedθερισάντωνintoεἰςtheτὰearsὦταof [the] LordΚυρίουof HostsΣαβαὼθhave enteredεἰσεληλύθασιν·
5You lived in luxuryἐτρυφήσατεuponἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆςandκαὶlived in self-indulgenceἐσπαταλήσατε,You have fattenedἐθρέψατεtheτὰςheartsκαρδίαςof youὑμῶνinἐν[the] dayἡμέρᾳof slaughterσφαγῆς.
6You have condemnedκατεδικάσατε,[and] have put to deathἐφονεύσατεtheτὸνrighteousδίκαιον.notοὐκdoes he resistἀντιτάσσεταιyouὑμῖν;
7Be patientΜακροθυμήσατεthereforeοὖν,brothersἀδελφοί,untilἕωςtheτῆςcomingπαρουσίαςof theτοῦLordκυρίου.Beholdἰδοὺtheὁfarmerγεωργὸςawaitsἐκδέχεταιtheτὸνpreciousτίμιονfruitκαρπὸνof theτῆςearthγῆς,being patientμακροθυμῶνforἐπ’itαὐτῷuntilἕωςit receivesλάβῃ[the] earlyπρόϊμονandκαὶlatter [rains]ὄψιμον.
8Be patientμακροθυμήσατεalsoκαὶyouὑμεῖς,strengthenστηρίξατεtheτὰςheartsκαρδίαςof youὑμῶν,becauseὅτιtheἡcomingπαρουσίαof theτοῦLordκυρίουhas drawn nearἤγγικεν.
9Notμὴgrumbleστενάζετε,brothersἀδελφοί,againstκατ’one anotherἀλλήλων,so thatἵναnotμὴyou may be condemnedκριθῆτε·BeholdἰδοὺtheὁJudgeκριτὴςbeforeπρὸtheτῶνdoorsθυρῶνis standingἕστηκεν.
10[As] an exampleὑπόδειγμαtakeλάβετε,brothersἀδελφοί,τῆςof suffering evilsκακοπαθίαςandκαὶτῆςof patienceμακροθυμίαςtheτοὺςprophetsπροφήτας,whoοἳspokeἐλάλησανinἐνtheτῷnameὀνόματιof [the] Lordκυρίου.
11Beholdἰδοὺwe count blessedμακαρίζομενthoseτοὺςhaving perseveredὑπομείναντας·Theτὴνperseveranceὑπομονὴνof JobἸὼβyou have heard ofἠκούσατε,andκαὶtheτὸoutcomeτέλοςfrom [the] Lordκυρίουyou have seenεἴδετε,thatὅτιfull of compassionπολύσπλαγχνόςisἐστινtheὁLordκύριοςandκαὶ[is] mercifulοἰκτίρμων.
12BeforeΠρὸall thingsπάντωνhoweverδέ,brothersἀδελφοίof meμου,notμὴswearὀμνύετε,neither [by]μήτετὸνheavenοὐρανὸνnorμήτεtheτὴνearthγῆνnorμήτεotherἄλλονanyτινὰoathὅρκον·Beἤτωhoweverδὲof youὑμῶνtheτὸYesΝαὶyesναὶandκαὶtheτὸNoΟὒnoοὔ,so thatἵναnotμὴunderὑπὸjudgmentκρίσινyou might fallπέσητε.
13Is suffering hardshipsΚακοπαθεῖanyoneτιςamongἐνyouὑμῖν;Let him prayπροσευχέσθω·Is cheerfulεὐθυμεῖanyoneτις;Let him sing praisesψαλλέτω.
14Is sickἀσθενεῖanyoneτιςamongἐνyouὑμῖν;Let him call nearπροσκαλεσάσθωtheτοὺςeldersπρεσβυτέρουςof theτῆςchurchἐκκλησίας,andκαὶlet them prayπροσευξάσθωσανoverἐπ’himαὐτὸνhaving anointedἀλείψαντεςhimαὐτὸνwith oilἐλαίῳinἐνtheτῷnameὀνόματιof theτοῦLordκυρίου·
15Andκαὶtheἡprayerεὐχὴτῆςof faithπίστεωςwill saveσώσειthe oneτὸνailingκάμνοντα,andκαὶwill raise upἐγερεῖhimαὐτὸνtheὁLordκύριος·and ifκἂνsinsἁμαρτίαςhe might be [one]ᾖhaving committedπεποιηκώς,it will be forgivenἀφεθήσεταιhimαὐτῷ.
16Confessἐξομολογεῖσθεthereforeοὖνto one anotherἀλλήλοιςtheτὰςsinsἁμαρτίαςandκαὶprayεὔχεσθεforὑπὲρone anotherἀλλήλων,so thatὅπωςyou may be healedἰαθῆτε.Muchπολὺprevailsἰσχύει[the] prayerδέησιςof a righteous [man]δικαίουbeing made effectiveἐνεργουμένη.
17ElijahἨλίαςa manἄνθρωποςwasἦνof like natureὁμοιοπαθὴςto usἡμῖν,andκαὶwith fervent prayerπροσευχῇhe prayed [for it]προσηύξατοτοῦnotμὴto rainβρέξαι,andκαὶnotοὐκit did rainἔβρεξενuponἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆςyearsἐνιαυτοὺςthreeτρεῖςandκαὶmonthsμῆναςsixἕξ·
18Andκαὶagainπάλινhe prayedπροσηύξατο,andκαὶtheὁheavenοὐρανὸςrainὑετὸνgaveἔδωκενandκαὶtheἡearthγῆproducedἐβλάστησενtheτὸνfruitκαρπὸνof itαὐτῆς.
19BrothersἈδελφοίof Meμου,ifἐάνanyoneτιςamongἐνyouὑμῖνmight wanderπλανηθῇfromἀπὸtheτῆςtruthἀληθείαςandκαὶshould bring backἐπιστρέψῃsomeoneτιςhimαὐτόν,
20knowγινωσκέτωthatὅτιthe [one]ὁhaving brought backἐπιστρέψαςa sinnerἁμαρτωλὸνfromἐκ[the] errorπλάνηςof the wayὁδοῦof himαὐτοῦwill saveσώσειthe soulψυχὴνof himαὐτοῦfromἐκdeathθανάτουandκαὶwill cover overκαλύψειa multitudeπλῆθοςof sinsἁμαρτιῶν.
