2according toκατὰ[the] foreknowledgeπρόγνωσινof Godθεοῦ[the] Fatherπατρός,byἐν[the] sanctificationἁγιασμῷof [the] Spiritπνεύματος,untoεἰς[the] obedienceὑπακοὴνandκαὶsprinklingῥαντισμὸνof [the] bloodαἵματοςof JesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦ·Graceχάριςto youὑμῖνandκαὶpeaceεἰρήνηmay be multipliedπληθυνθείη.
3Blessed [be]ΕὐλογητὸςtheὁGodθεὸςandκαὶFatherπατὴρof theτοῦLordκυρίουof usἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦ,the [One]ὁaccording toκατὰtheτὸgreatπολὺof Himαὐτοῦmercyἔλεοςhaving begotten againἀναγεννήσαςusἡμᾶςtoεἰςa hopeἐλπίδαlivingζῶσανthroughδι’[the] resurrectionἀναστάσεωςof JesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶν,
4toεἰςan inheritanceκληρονομίανimperishableἄφθαρτονandκαὶundefiledἀμίαντονandκαὶunfadingἀμάραντον,being reservedτετηρημένηνinἐν[the] heavensοὐρανοῖςforεἰςyouὑμᾶς
5whoτοὺςbyἐν[the] powerδυνάμειof Godθεοῦ[are] being guardedφρουρουμένουςthroughδιὰfaithπίστεωςforεἰς[the] salvationσωτηρίανreadyἑτοίμηνto be revealedἀποκαλυφθῆναιinἐν[the] timeκαιρῷlastἐσχάτῳ.
6inἐνwhichᾧyou greatly rejoiceἀγαλλιᾶσθε,for a little whileὀλίγονat presentἄρτιifεἰbeing necessaryδέονhaving been put to griefλυπηθέντεςbyἐνvariousποικίλοιςtrialsπειρασμοῖς,
7so thatἵναtheτὸproven genuinenessδοκίμιονof yourὑμῶντῆςfaithπίστεωςmore preciousπολυτιμότερονthan goldχρυσίουτοῦperishingἀπολλυμένουbyδιὰfireπυρὸςthoughδὲbeing refinedδοκιμαζομένουmay be discoveredεὑρεθῇto result inεἰςpraiseἔπαινονandκαὶgloryδόξανandκαὶhonorτιμὴνinἐν[the] revelationἀποκαλύψειof JesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦ.
8whomὃνnotοὐκhaving seenἰδόντεςyou loveἀγαπᾶτε,onεἰςwhomὃνnow [though]ἄρτιnotμὴseeingὁρῶντεςbelievingπιστεύοντεςnowδὲyou exultἀγαλλιᾶσθεwith joyχαρᾷinexpressibleἀνεκλαλήτῳandκαὶfilled with gloryδεδοξασμένῃ,
9receivingκομιζόμενοιtheτὸoutcomeτέλοςof theτῆςfaithπίστεωςyourὑμῶν[the] salvationσωτηρίανof [your] soulsψυχῶν.
10ConcerningΠερὶthisἧςsalvationσωτηρίαςsought outἐξεζήτησανandκαὶsearched out diligentlyἐξηραύνησαν[the] prophetsπροφῆταιοἱofπερὶtheτῆςtowardεἰςyouὑμᾶςgraceχάριτοςhaving prophesiedπροφητεύσαντες,
11inquiringἐραυνῶντεςintoεἰςwhatτίναorἢwhat manner ofποῖονtimeκαιρὸνwas signifyingἐδήλουtheτὸinἐνthemαὐτοῖςSpiritπνεῦμαof ChristΧριστοῦtestifying beforehandπρομαρτυρόμενοντὰuntoεἰςChrist'sΧριστὸνsufferingsπαθήματαandκαὶtheτὰςafterμετὰtheseταῦταgloriesδόξας·
12to whomοἷςit was revealedἀπεκαλύφθηthatὅτιnotοὐχthemselvesἑαυτοῖςyouὑμῖνhoweverδὲthey were servingδιηκόνουνin those thingsαὐτά,whichἃnowνῦνhave been proclaimedἀνηγγέληto youὑμῖνbyδιὰthoseτῶνhaving proclaimed the gospel toεὐαγγελισαμένωνyouὑμᾶς[the] SpiritπνεύματιHolyἁγίῳhaving been sentἀποσταλέντιfromἀπ’heavenοὐρανοῦ,intoεἰςwhichἃdesireἐπιθυμοῦσινangelsἄγγελοιto lookπαρακύψαι.
13ThereforeΔιὸhaving girded upἀναζωσάμενοιtheτὰςloinsὀσφύαςof theτῆςmindδιανοίαςof youὑμῶν,being sober-mindedνήφοντεςfullyτελείως,set [your] hopeἐλπίσατεuponἐπὶtheτὴνbeing broughtφερομένηνto youὑμῖνgraceχάρινinἐν[the] revelationἀποκαλύψειof JesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦ.
14asὡςchildrenτέκναof obedienceὑπακοῆς,notμὴfashioning yourselvesσυσχηματιζόμενοιto theταῖςformerπρότερονinἐνtheτῇignoranceἀγνοίᾳof youὑμῶνdesiresἐπιθυμίαις,
15Butἀλλὰasκατὰthe [One]τὸνhaving calledκαλέσανταyouὑμᾶς[is] holyἅγιονalsoκαὶyourselvesαὐτοὶholyἅγιοιinἐνallπάσῃ[your] conductἀναστροφῇbeγενήθητε,
16becauseδιότιit has been writtenγέγραπταιὅτιHolyἍγιοιyou shall beἔσεσθε,becauseὅτιIἐγὼholyἅγιος.
17AndΚαὶifεἰ[as] Fatherπατέραyou call onἐπικαλεῖσθεthe [One]τὸνimpartiallyἀπροσωπολήμπτωςjudgingκρίνονταaccording toκατὰtheτὸof eachἑκάστουworkἔργον,inἐνfearφόβῳduring theτὸνof theτῆςsojournπαροικίαςof youὑμῶνtimeχρόνονconduct yourselvesἀναστράφητε·
18knowingεἰδότεςthatὅτιnotοὐby perishable thingsφθαρτοῖς,by silverἀργυρίῳorἢby goldχρυσίῳ,you were redeemedἐλυτρώθητεfromἐκtheτῆςfutileματαίαςof youὑμῶνmanner of lifeἀναστροφῆςhanded down from [your] fathersπατροπαραδότου,
19butἀλλὰby [the] preciousτιμίῳbloodαἵματιasὡςof a lambἀμνοῦwithout blemishἀμώμουandκαὶwithout spotἀσπίλουof ChristΧριστοῦ,
20having been foreknownπροεγνωσμένουindeedμὲνbeforeπρὸ[the] foundationκαταβολῆςof [the] worldκόσμου,having been revealedφανερωθέντοςhoweverδὲinἐπ’[the] lastἐσχάτουτῶνtimesχρόνωνfor the sake ofδι’youὑμᾶς
21whoτοὺςbyδι’HimαὐτοῦbelieveπιστοὺςinεἰςGodθεὸνthe [one]τὸνhaving raised upἐγείρανταHimαὐτὸνout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶνandκαὶgloryδόξανHimαὐτῷhaving givenδόντα,so as forὥστεtheτὴνfaithπίστινof youὑμῶνandκαὶhopeἐλπίδαto beεἶναιinεἰςGodθεόν.
22TheΤὰςsoulsψυχὰςof youὑμῶνhaving purifiedἡγνικότεςbyἐντῇobedienceὑπακοῇto theτῆςtruthἀληθείαςuntoεἰςbrotherly loveφιλαδελφίανsincereἀνυπόκριτονout ofἐκof heartκαρδίαςone anotherἀλλήλουςloveἀγαπήσατεferventlyἐκτενῶς,
23Having been born againἀναγεγεννημένοιnotοὐκofἐκseedσπορᾶςperishableφθαρτῆςbutἀλλὰof imperishableἀφθάρτου,byδιὰ[the] wordλόγουlivingζῶντοςof Godθεοῦandκαὶabidingμένοντος·
24becauseδιότιAllπᾶσαflesh [is]σὰρξlikeὡςgrassχόρτος,andκαὶallπᾶσα[the] gloryδόξαof itαὐτῆςlikeὡς[the] flowerἄνθοςof grassχόρτου·Withersἐξηράνθηtheὁgrassχόρτος,andκαὶtheτὸflowerἄνθοςfalls awayἐξέπεσεν·
25τὸbutδὲthe wordῥῆμαof [the] Lordκυρίουabidesμένειtoεἰςtheτὸνageαἰῶνα.Thisτοῦτοnowδέisἐστινtheτὸwordῥῆματὸhaving been proclaimedεὐαγγελισθὲνtoεἰςyouὑμᾶς.
