Acts 18

1And afterΜετὰthese thingsταῦταhaving departedχωρισθεὶςfromἐκτῶνAthensἈθηνῶνhe cameἦλθενtoεἰςCorinthΚόρινθον.

2Andκαὶhaving foundεὑρώνa certainτιναJewἸουδαῖονnamedὀνόματιAquilaἈκύλαν,of PontusΠοντικὸντῷa nativeγένει,recentlyπροσφάτωςhaving comeἐληλυθόταfromἀπὸτῆςItalyἸταλίαςandκαὶPriscillaΠρίσκιλλανwifeγυναῖκαof himαὐτοῦbecause ofδιὰτὸhaving commandedδιατεταχέναιClaudiusΚλαύδιονto departχωρίζεσθαιallπάνταςtheτοὺςJewsἸουδαίουςout ofἀπὸτῆςRomeῬώμης,he cameπροσῆλθενto themαὐτοῖς,

3andκαὶdue toδιὰof theτὸsame tradeὁμότεχνονbeingεἶναιhe stayedἔμενενwithπαρ’themαὐτοῖςandκαὶworkedἠργάζετο,they wereἦσανforγὰρtentmakersσκηνοποιοὶby theτῇtradeτέχνῃ.

4He was reasoningδιελέγετοnowδὲinἐνtheτῇsynagogueσυναγωγῇonκατὰeveryπᾶνSabbathσάββατον,persuadingἔπειθένbothτεJewsἸουδαίουςandκαὶGreeksἝλληνας.

5WhenὩςnowδὲcame downκατῆλθονfromἀπὸτῆςMacedoniaΜακεδονίαςὅbothτεSilasΣιλᾶςandκαὶὁTimothyΤιμόθεος,was occupiedσυνείχετοwith theτῷwordλόγῳὁPaulΠαῦλος,earnestly testifyingδιαμαρτυρόμενοςto theτοῖςJewsἸουδαίοιςto beεἶναιtheτὸνChristχριστὸνJesusἸησοῦν.

6Opposingἀντιτασσομένωνhoweverδὲof themαὐτῶνandκαὶreviling [him]βλασφημούντωνhaving shaken outἐκτιναξάμενοςtheτὰgarmentsἱμάτιαhe saidεἶπενtoπρὸςthemαὐτούς·TheΤὸbloodαἷμαof Youὑμῶν[be] uponἐπὶtheτὴνheadκεφαλὴνof youὑμῶν·cleanκαθαρὸςI [am]ἐγώ·Fromἀπὸτοῦnow onνῦνtoεἰςtheτὰGentilesἔθνηI will goπορεύσομαι.

7Andκαὶhaving departedμεταβὰςfrom thereἐκεῖθενwentεἰσῆλθενto [the]εἰςhouseοἰκίανof a certain oneτινὸςnamedὀνόματιTitiusΤιτίουJustusἸούστουworshipingσεβομένουτὸνGodθεόν,of whomοὗtheἡhouseοἰκίαwasἦνadjoiningσυνομοροῦσαtheτῇsynagogueσυναγωγῇ.

8CrispusΚρίσποςnowδὲtheὁruler of the synagogueἀρχισυνάγωγοςbelievedἐπίστευσενin theτῷLordκυρίῳwithσὺνallὅλῳtheτῷhouseholdοἴκῳof himαὐτοῦ,Andκαὶmanyπολλοὶof theτῶνCorinthiansΚορινθίωνhearingἀκούοντεςbelievedἐπίστευονandκαὶwere baptizedἐβαπτίζοντο.

9SaidεἶπενnowδὲtheὁLordκύριοςin [the]ἐνnightνυκτὶthroughδι’a visionὁράματοςτῷto PaulΠαύλῳ·NotΜὴfearφοβοῦ,butἀλλὰcontinue speakingλάλειandκαὶnotμὴbe silentσιωπήσῃς,

10becauseδιότιIἐγώamεἰμιwithμετὰyouσοῦandκαὶno oneοὐδεὶςwill lay a hand onἐπιθήσεταίyouσοιτοῦto harmκακῶσαίyouσε,becauseδιότιpeopleλαόςthere areἐστίto meμοιmanyπολὺςinἐνtheτῇcityπόλειthisταύτῃ.

11He remainedἐκάθισενnowδὲa yearἐνιαυτὸνandκαὶmonthsμῆναςsixἓξteachingδιδάσκωνamongἐνthemαὐτοῖςtheτὸνwordλόγοντοῦof Godθεοῦ.

12GallioΓαλλίωνοςhoweverδὲproconsulἀνθυπάτουbeingὄντοςofτῆςAchaiaἈχαΐαςrose up againstκατεπέστησανwith one accordὁμοθυμαδὸνtheοἱJewsἸουδαῖοιτῷPaulΠαύλῳandκαὶledἤγαγονhimαὐτὸνtoἐπὶtheτὸjudgment seatβῆμα,

13sayingλέγοντεςὅτιContrary toΠαρὰtheτὸνlawνόμονpersuadesἀναπείθειthis [man]οὗτοςτοὺςmenἀνθρώπουςto worshipσέβεσθαιτὸνGodθεόν.

14Being aboutμέλλοντοςnowδὲτοῦPaulΠαύλουto openἀνοίγεινtheτὸmouthστόμαsaidεἶπενὁGallioΓαλλίωνtoπρὸςtheτοὺςJewsἸουδαίους·IfΕἰindeedμὲνit wasἦνunrighteousnessἀδίκημάsomeτιorἢcrimeῥᾳδιούργημαwickedπονηρόν,OὦJewsἸουδαῖοι,according toκατὰreasonλόγονἂνI would have endured withἀνεσχόμηνyouὑμῶν·

15ifεἰhoweverδὲa questionζητήματάit isἐστινaboutπερὶa wordλόγουandκαὶnamesὀνομάτωνandκαὶlawνόμουτοῦin reference toκαθ’yourὑμᾶς,you will seeὄψεσθε[to it] yourselvesαὐτοί·a judgeκριτὴςIἐγὼof these thingsτούτωνnotοὐresolveβούλομαιto beεἶναι.

16Andκαὶhe droveἀπήλασενthemαὐτοὺςfromἀπὸtheτοῦjudgment seatβήματος.

17Having seizedἐπιλαβόμενοιthenδὲall [of them]πάντεςSosthenesΣωσθένηνtheτὸνruler of the synagogueἀρχισυνάγωγονthey began to beat [him]ἔτυπτονbeforeἔμπροσθενtheτοῦjudgment seatβήματος·Andκαὶnothingοὐδὲνabout these thingsτούτωντῷto GallioΓαλλίωνιit matteredἔμελεν.

18ὉNowδὲPaulΠαῦλοςmoreἔτιhaving remainedπροσμείναςdaysἡμέραςmanyἱκανὰςtheτοῖςbrothersἀδελφοῖςhaving taken leave ofἀποταξάμενοςsailed awayἐξέπλειtoεἰςτὴνSyriaΣυρίαν,andκαὶwithσὺνhimαὐτῷPriscillaΠρίσκιλλαandκαὶAquilaἈκύλας,having shavedκειράμενοςinἐνCenchreaΚεγχρεαῖςtheτὴνheadκεφαλήν,he hadεἶχενforγὰρa vowεὐχήν.

19They cameκατήντησανnowδὲtoεἰςEphesusἜφεσον,and themκἀκείνουςleftκατέλιπενthereαὐτοῦ,He himselfαὐτὸςthenδὲhaving enteredεἰσελθὼνintoεἰςtheτὴνsynagogueσυναγωγὴνhe reasonedδιελέξατοwith theτοῖςJewsἸουδαίοις.

20Asking [him]ἐρωτώντωνnowδὲof themαὐτῶνforἐπὶa longerπλείοναtimeχρόνονto remainμεῖναιnotοὐκhe did consentἐπένευσεν,

21butἀλλὰhaving taken leaveἀποταξάμενοςandκαὶhaving saidεἰπών·AgainΠάλινI will returnἀνακάμψωtoπρὸςyouὑμᾶςτοῦGodθεοῦwillingθέλοντοςhe sailedἀνήχθηfromἀπὸτῆςEphesusἘφέσου,

22andκαὶhaving landedκατελθὼνatεἰςCaesareaΚαισάρειαν,having gone upἀναβὰςandκαὶhaving greetedἀσπασάμενοςtheτὴνchurchἐκκλησίαν,he went downκατέβηtoεἰςAntiochἈντιόχειαν,

23Andκαὶhaving stayedποιήσαςtimeχρόνονsomeτινὰhe went forthἐξῆλθεν,passing throughδιερχόμενοςsuccessivelyκαθεξῆςtheτὴνGalatianΓαλατικὴνregionχώρανandκαὶPhrygiaΦρυγίαν,strengtheningστηρίζωνallπάνταςtheτοὺςdisciplesμαθητάς.

24A JewἸουδαῖοςnowδέcertainτιςApollosἈπολλῶςnamedὀνόματι,of AlexandriaἈλεξανδρεὺςτῷa nativeγένει,a manἀνὴρeloquentλόγιος,cameκατήντησενtoεἰςEphesusἜφεσον,mightyδυνατὸςbeingὢνinἐνtheταῖςScripturesγραφαῖς.

25Heοὗτοςwasἦνinstructed inκατηχημένοςtheτὴνwayὁδὸνof theτοῦLordκυρίου,Andκαὶbeing ferventζέωντῷin spiritπνεύματιhe was speakingἐλάλειandκαὶwas teachingἐδίδασκενearnestlyἀκριβῶςthe thingsτὰconcerningπερὶτοῦJesusἸησοῦ,knowingἐπιστάμενοςonlyμόνονtheτὸbaptismβάπτισμαof JohnἸωάννου.

26Heοὗτόςthenτεbeganἤρξατοto speak boldlyπαρρησιάζεσθαιinἐνtheτῇsynagogueσυναγωγῇ·Having heardἀκούσαντεςhoweverδὲhimαὐτοῦPriscillaΠρίσκιλλαandκαὶAquilaἈκύλαςthey took to [them]προσελάβοντοhimαὐτὸνandκαὶmore accuratelyἀκριβέστερονto himαὐτῷexpoundedἐξέθεντοtheτὴνwayὁδὸνofτοῦGodθεοῦ.

27Resolvingβουλομένουthenδὲheαὐτοῦto pass throughδιελθεῖνintoεἰςτὴνAchaiaἈχαΐανhaving encouraged [him]προτρεψάμενοιtheοἱbrothersἀδελφοὶwroteἔγραψανto theτοῖςdisciplesμαθηταῖςto welcomeἀποδέξασθαιhimαὐτόν·whoὃςhaving arrivedπαραγενόμενοςhelpedσυνεβάλετοgreatlyπολὺthoseτοῖςhaving believedπεπιστευκόσινthroughδιὰτῆςgraceχάριτος·

28PowerfullyεὐτόνωςforγὰρtheτοῖςJewsἸουδαίοιςhe was refutingδιακατηλέγχετοpubliclyδημοσίᾳshowingἐπιδεικνὺςbyδιὰtheτῶνScripturesγραφῶνto beεἶναιtheτὸνChristχριστὸνJesusἸησοῦν.
