Romans 8
1[There is] noΟὐδὲνthereforeἄραnowνῦνcondemnationκατάκριμαto thoseτοῖςinἐνChristΧριστῷJesusἸησοῦ·
2ὁForγὰρthe lawνόμοςof theτοῦSpiritπνεύματοςofτῆςlifeζωῆςinἐνChristΧριστῷJesusἸησοῦhas set freeἠλευθέρωσένyouσεfromἀπὸtheτοῦlawνόμουτῆςof sinἁμαρτίαςandκαὶτοῦof deathθανάτου.
3τὸForγὰρpowerless [being]ἀδύνατονtheτοῦlawνόμου,inἐνthatᾧit was weakἠσθένειthroughδιὰtheτῆςfleshσαρκός,ὁGodθεὸςτὸνof HimselfἑαυτοῦSonυἱὸνhaving sentπέμψαςinἐνlikenessὁμοιώματιof fleshσαρκὸςof sinἁμαρτίαςandκαὶforπερὶsinἁμαρτίαςcondemnedκατέκρινετὴνsinἁμαρτίανinἐνtheτῇfleshσαρκί,
4so thatἵναtheτὸrighteousnessδικαίωμαof theτοῦlawνόμουshould be fulfilledπληρωθῇinἐνusἡμῖντοῖςnotμὴaccording toκατὰthe fleshσάρκαwalkingπεριπατοῦσινbutἀλλὰaccording toκατὰ[the] Spiritπνεῦμα·
5Thoseοἱforγὰρaccording toκατὰfleshσάρκαbeingὄντεςthe thingsτὰof theτῆςfleshσαρκὸςmindφρονοῦσιν,thoseοἱhoweverδὲaccording toκατὰSpiritπνεῦμαthe thingsτὰof theτοῦSpiritπνεύματος.
6Theτὸforγὰρmindφρόνημαof theτῆςfleshσαρκὸς[is] deathθάνατος,theτὸbutδὲmindφρόνημαof theτοῦSpiritπνεύματοςlifeζωὴandκαὶpeaceεἰρήνη·
7becauseδιότιtheτὸmindφρόνημαof theτῆςfleshσαρκὸς[is] hostilityἔχθραtowardεἰςGodθεόν,toτῷforγὰρ[the] lawνόμῳτοῦof Godθεοῦnotοὐχit is subjectὑποτάσσεται,nor evenοὐδὲforγὰρcan it [be]δύναται·
8ThoseοἱnowδὲinἐνfleshσαρκὶbeingὄντεςGodθεῷto pleaseἀρέσαιnotοὐare ableδύνανται.
9YouὙμεῖςnowδὲnotοὐκareἐστὲinἐνfleshσαρκὶbutἀλλὰinἐνSpiritπνεύματι,if indeed [the]εἴπερSpiritπνεῦμαof Godθεοῦdwellsοἰκεῖinἐνyouὑμῖν.ifεἰhoweverδέanyoneτις[the] Spiritπνεῦμαof ChristΧριστοῦnotοὐκhasἔχει,heοὗτοςnotοὐκisἔστινof Himαὐτοῦ.
10IfεἰhoweverδὲChristΧριστὸς[is] inἐνyouὑμῖν,theτὸindeedμὲνbody [is]σῶμαdeadνεκρὸνon account ofδιὰsinἁμαρτίαν,theτὸhoweverδὲSpiritπνεῦμα[is] lifeζωὴon account ofδιὰrighteousnessδικαιοσύνην.
11IfεἰnowδὲtheτὸSpiritπνεῦμαof the [One]τοῦhaving raised upἐγείραντοςτὸνJesusἸησοῦνout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶνdwellsοἰκεῖinἐνyouὑμῖν,the [One]ὁhaving raised upἐγείραςout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶνChristΧριστὸνJesusἸησοῦνwill give lifeζῳοποιήσειalsoκαὶto theτὰmortalθνητὰbodiesσώματαof youὑμῶνon account ofδιὰτὸindwellingἐνοικοῦνHisαὐτοῦspiritπνεῦμαinἐνyouὑμῖν.
12SoἌραthenοὖν,brothersἀδελφοί,debtorsὀφειλέταιwe areἐσμέν,notοὐto theτῇfleshσαρκὶτοῦaccording toκατὰfleshσάρκαto liveζῆν,
13Ifεἰforγὰρaccording toκατὰfleshσάρκαyou liveζῆτεyou are aboutμέλλετεto dieἀποθνῄσκειν,ifεἰhoweverδὲby [the] Spiritπνεύματιtheτὰςdeedsπράξειςof theτοῦbodyσώματοςyou put to deathθανατοῦτε,you will liveζήσεσθε.
14As many asὅσοιforγὰρby [the] Spiritπνεύματιof Godθεοῦare ledἄγονται,theseοὗτοιsonsυἱοίareεἰσινof Godθεοῦ.
15Notοὐforγὰρyou have receivedἐλάβετεa spiritπνεῦμαof bondageδουλείαςagainπάλινtoεἰςfearφόβον,butἀλλὰyou have receivedἐλάβετε[the] Spiritπνεῦμαof divine adoption as sonsυἱοθεσίαςbyἐνwhomᾧwe cryκράζομεν·AbbaΑββαὁFatherπατήρ·
16HimselfαὐτὸtheτὸSpiritπνεῦμαbears witness withσυμμαρτυρεῖtheτῷspiritπνεύματιof usἡμῶνthatὅτιwe areἐσμὲνchildrenτέκναof Godθεοῦ.
17Ifεἰnowδὲchildrenτέκνα,alsoκαὶheirsκληρονόμοι·heirsκληρονόμοιindeedμὲνof Godθεοῦ,joint-heirsσυγκληρονόμοιnowδὲof ChristΧριστοῦ,if indeedεἴπερwe suffer with [Him]συμπάσχομενso thatἵναalsoκαὶwe may be glorified togetherσυνδοξασθῶμεν.
18I reckonΛογίζομαιforγὰρthatὅτιnotοὐκcomparableἄξιαtheτὰsufferingsπαθήματαof theτοῦpresentνῦνtime [are]καιροῦtoπρὸςtheτὴνcomingμέλλουσανgloryδόξανto be revealedἀποκαλυφθῆναιtoεἰςusἡμᾶς.
19Theἡforγὰρearnest expectationἀποκαραδοκίαof theτῆςcreationκτίσεωςtheτὴνrevelationἀποκάλυψινof theτῶνsonsυἱῶντοῦof Godθεοῦawaitsἀπεκδέχεται·
20To theτῇforγὰρfutilityματαιότητιtheἡcreationκτίσιςwas subjectedὑπετάγη,notοὐχwillinglyἑκοῦσαbutἀλλὰbecause ofδιὰthe [One]τὸνhaving subjected [it]ὑποτάξαντα,inἐφ’hopeἑλπίδι
21thatὅτιalsoκαὶitselfαὐτὴtheἡcreationκτίσιςwill be set freeἐλευθερωθήσεταιfromἀπὸtheτῆςbondageδουλείαςτῆςof decayφθορᾶςintoεἰςtheτὴνfreedomἐλευθερίανof theτῆςgloryδόξηςof theτῶνchildrenτέκνωντοῦof Godθεοῦ.
22We knowοἴδαμενforγὰρthatὅτιallπᾶσαtheἡcreationκτίσιςgroans togetherσυστενάζειandκαὶtravails togetherσυνωδίνειuntilἄχριτοῦnowνῦν·
23Notοὐonly [so]μόνονnowδέ,butἀλλὰevenκαὶourselvesαὐτοὶtheτὴνfirstfruitἀπαρχὴνof theτοῦSpiritπνεύματοςhavingἔχοντεςweἡμεῖςalsoκαὶourselvesαὐτοὶinἐνourselvesἑαυτοῖςgroanστενάζομεν,divine adoption as sonsυἱοθεσίανawaitingἀπεκδεχόμενοιtheτὴνredemptionἀπολύτρωσινof theτοῦbodyσώματοςof usἡμῶν.
24In thisτῇforγὰρhopeἐλπίδιwe were savedἐσώθημεν·hopeἐλπὶςhoweverδὲbeing seenβλεπομένηnotοὐκisἔστινhopeἐλπίς,whatὃforγὰρseesβλέπειanyτίςdoes he hope forἐλπίζει;
25Ifεἰhoweverδὲwhatὃnotοὐwe seeβλέπομενwe hope forἐλπίζομεν,inδι’patienceὑπομονῆςwe awaitἀπεκδεχόμεθα.
26LikewiseὩσαύτωςnowδὲalsoκαὶtheτὸSpiritπνεῦμαjoins to helpσυναντιλαμβάνεταιtheτῇweaknessἀσθενείᾳof usἡμῶν·theτὸforγὰρthings whichτίwe should pray forπροσευξώμεθαasκαθὸit behoovesδεῖnotοὐκwe knowοἴδαμεν,butἀλλὰHimselfαὐτὸtheτὸSpiritπνεῦμαmakes intercessionὑπερεντυγχάνειwith groaningsστεναγμοῖςinexpressibleἀλαλήτοις,
27The [One]ὁnowδὲsearchingἐραυνῶντὰςheartsκαρδίαςknowsοἶδενwhat [is]τίtheτὸmindsetφρόνημαof theτοῦSpiritπνεύματος,becauseὅτιaccording toκατὰGodθεὸνHe intercedesἐντυγχάνειforὑπὲρ[the] saintsἁγίων.
28We knowΟἴδαμενnowδὲthatὅτιto thoseτοῖςlovingἀγαπῶσιτὸνGodθεὸνall thingsπάνταworks togetherσυνεργεῖforεἰςgoodἀγαθόν,to thoseτοῖςaccording toκατὰ[His] purposeπρόθεσινcalledκλητοῖςbeingοὖσιν.
29Forὅτιthose whomοὓςHe foreknewπροέγνω,alsoκαὶHe predestined [to be]προώρισενconformed toσυμμόρφουςtheτῆςimageεἰκόνοςof theτοῦSonυἱοῦof Himαὐτοῦ,forεἰςτὸto beεἶναιHimαὐτὸνfirstbornπρωτότοκονamongἐνmanyπολλοῖςbrothersἀδελφοῖς·
30Those whomοὓςthenδὲHe predestinedπροώρισεν,theseτούτουςalsoκαὶHe calledἐκάλεσεν·andκαὶwhomοὓςHe calledἐκάλεσεν,theseτούτουςalsoκαὶHe justifiedἐδικαίωσεν·whomοὓςthenδὲHe justifiedἐδικαίωσεν,theseτούτουςalsoκαὶHe glorifiedἐδόξασεν.
31WhatΤίthenοὖνwill we sayἐροῦμενtoπρὸςthese thingsταῦτα;IfεἰὁGod [is]θεὸςforὑπὲρusἡμῶν,who [can be]τίςagainstκαθ’usἡμῶν;
32He whoὅςindeedγεtheτοῦownἰδίουSonυἱοῦnotοὐκsparedἐφείσατο,butἀλλὰforὑπὲρusἡμῶνallπάντωνgave upπαρέδωκενHimαὐτόν,howπῶςnotοὐχὶalsoκαὶwithσὺνHimαὐτῷthingsτὰallπάνταusἡμῖνwill He grantχαρίσεται;
33Whoτίςwill bring an accusationἐγκαλέσειagainstκατὰ[the] electἐκλεκτῶνof Godθεοῦ;God [is]θεὸςthe [One]ὁjustifyingδικαιῶν·
34Who [is]τίςthe [one]ὁcondemningκατακρινῶν;[For it is] ChristΧριστὸςthe [one]ὁhaving diedἀποθανών,ratherμᾶλλονnowδὲhaving been raised upἐγερθείς,whoὅςalsoκαίisἐστινat [the]ἐνright handδεξιᾷτοῦof Godθεοῦ,whoὃςandκαὶis intercedingἐντυγχάνειforὑπὲρusἡμῶν·
35Whoτίςusἡμᾶςwill separateχωρίσειfromἀπὸtheτῆςloveἀγάπηςτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦ;Tribulationθλῖψιςorἢdistressστενοχωρίαorἢpersecutionδιωγμὸςorἢfamineλιμὸςorἢnakednessγυμνότηςorἢdangerκίνδυνοςorἢswordμάχαιρα;
36Asκαθὼςit has been writtenγέγραπταιὅτιFor the sakeἝνεκενof youσοῦwe face deathθανατούμεθαallὅληνtheτὴνdayἡμέραν,we were regardedἐλογίσθημενasὡςsheepπρόβαταof slaughterσφαγῆς.
37Butἀλλ’inἐνthese thingsτούτοιςallπᾶσινwe more than conquerὑπερνικῶμενthroughδιὰthe [One]τοῦhaving lovedἀγαπήσαντοςusἡμᾶς.
38I am persuadedπέπεισμαιforγὰρthatὅτιneitherοὔτεdeathθάνατοςnorοὔτεlifeζωὴnorοὔτεangelsἄγγελοιnorοὔτεprincipalitiesἀρχαὶnorοὔτεthings presentἐνεστῶταnorοὔτεthings to comeμέλλονταnorοὔτεpowersδυνάμεις
39norοὔτεheightὕψωμαnorοὔτεdepthβάθοςnorοὔτεanyτιςcreated thingκτίσιςotherἑτέραwill be ableδυνήσεταιusἡμᾶςto separateχωρίσαιfromἀπὸtheτῆςloveἀγάπηςτοῦof GodθεοῦτῆςinἐνChristΧριστῷJesusἸησοῦtheτῷLordκυρίῳof usἡμῶν.
