1 Timothy 6

1As many asὍσοιareεἰσὶνunderὑπὸa yokeζυγὸν[as] slavesδοῦλοι,theτοὺςownἰδίουςmastersδεσπόταςof allπάσηςhonorτιμῆςworthyἀξίουςlet them esteemἡγείσθωσαν,so thatἵναnotμὴtheτὸnameὄνοματοῦof Godθεοῦandκαὶtheἡteachingδιδασκαλίαshould be blasphemedβλασφημῆται.

2Thoseοἱnowδὲbelievingπιστοὺςhavingἔχοντεςmastersδεσπόταςnotμὴlet them despise [them]καταφρονείτωσαν,becauseὅτιbrothersἀδελφοίthey areεἰσιν·butἀλλὰratherμᾶλλονlet them serve [them]δουλευέτωσαν,becauseὅτιbelieving [ones]πιστοίthey areεἰσινandκαὶbelovedἀγαπητοὶοἱby theτῆςgood serviceεὐεργεσίαςbeing helpedἀντιλαμβανόμενοι.These thingsΤαῦταteachδίδασκεandκαὶexhortπαρακάλει.

3Ifεἴanyoneτιςteaches another doctrineἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖandκαὶnotμὴdraws nearπροσέρχεται[the] being soundὑγιαίνουσιwordsλόγοις,τοῖςof theτοῦLordκυρίουof usἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦ,andκαὶtheτῇaccording toκατ’godlinessεὐσέβειανteachingδιδασκαλίᾳ,

4he is puffed upτετύφωται,nothingμηδὲνknowingἐπιστάμενος,butἀλλὰunhealthyνοσῶνaboutπερὶcontroversiesζητήσειςandκαὶdisputes about wordsλογομαχίας,out ofἐξwhichὧνcomeγίνεταιenvyφθόνος,strifeἔρις,slanderβλασφημίαι,suspicionsὑπόνοιαιevilπονηραί,

5[and] constant frictionsδιαπαρατριβαὶcorruptedδιεφθαρμένωνamong menἀνθρώπωντὸνin mindνοῦνandκαὶdestituteἀπεστερημένωνof theτῆςtruthἀληθείας,holdingνομιζόντωνa means of gainπορισμὸνto beεἶναιτὴνgodlinessεὐσέβειαν.

6Isἔστινhoweverδὲgainπορισμὸςgreatμέγαςἡgodlinessεὐσέβειαwithμετὰcontentmentαὐταρκείας·

7Nothingοὐδὲνforγὰρwe broughtεἰσηνέγκαμενintoεἰςtheτὸνworldκόσμον,becauseὅτιneitherοὐδὲto carry outἐξενεγκεῖνanythingτιare we ableδυνάμεθα·

8Havingἔχοντεςhoweverδὲsustenanceδιατροφὰςandκαὶcoveringsσκεπάσματα,with theseτούτοιςwe will be contentἀρκεσθησόμεθα.

9Thoseοἱhoweverδὲdesiringβουλόμενοιto be richπλουτεῖνfallἐμπίπτουσινintoεἰςtemptationπειρασμὸνandκαὶa snareπαγίδαandκαὶdesiresἐπιθυμίαςmanyπολλὰςfoolishἀνοήτουςandκαὶharmfulβλαβεράς,whichαἵτινεςplungeβυθίζουσιτοὺςmenἀνθρώπουςintoεἰςruinὄλεθρονandκαὶdestructionἀπώλειαν·

10A rootῥίζαforγὰρof all kindsπάντωντῶνof evilsκακῶνisἐστινtheἡlove of moneyφιλαργυρία,whichἧςsomeτινεςstretching afterὀρεγόμενοιhave been seducedἀπεπλανήθησανaway fromἀπὸtheτῆςfaithπίστεωςandκαὶthemselvesἑαυτοὺςhave piercedπεριέπειρανwith sorrowsὀδύναιςmanyπολλαῖς.

11YouΣὺhoweverδέ,Oὦmanἄνθρωπεof Godθεοῦ,these thingsταῦταfleeφεῦγε·pursueδίωκεnowδὲrighteousnessδικαιοσύνην,godlinessεὐσέβειαν,faithπίστιν,loveἀγάπην,enduranceὑπομονήν,[and] gentlenessπραϋπαθίαν.

12Fightἀγωνίζουtheτὸνgoodκαλὸνfightἀγῶναof theτῆςfaithπίστεως,Lay holdἐπιλαβοῦof theτῆςeternalαἰωνίουlifeζωῆς,toεἰςwhichἣνyou were calledἐκλήθηςand alsoκαὶdid confessὡμολόγησαςtheτὴνgoodκαλὴνconfessionὁμολογίανbeforeἐνώπιονmanyπολλῶνwitnessesμαρτύρων.

13I chargeπαραγγέλλωyouσοιbeforeἐνώπιοντοῦGodθεοῦthe [One]τοῦgiving lifeζῳογονοῦντοςtoτὰall thingsπάνταandκαὶChristΧριστοῦJesusἸησοῦthe [One]τοῦhaving testifiedμαρτυρήσαντοςbeforeἐπὶPontiusΠοντίουPilateΠιλάτουtheτὴνgoodκαλὴνconfessionὁμολογίαν,

14to keepτηρῆσαίyouσεtheτὴνcommandmentἐντολὴνwithout stainἄσπιλονabove reproachἀνεπίλημπτονuntilμέχριtheτῆςappearingἐπιφανείαςof theτοῦLordκυρίουof usἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦChristΧριστοῦ,

15whichἣνseasonsκαιροῖςin the ownἰδίοιςHe will displayδείξειtheὁblessedμακάριοςandκαὶaloneμόνοςSovereignδυνάστης,theὁKingβασιλεὺςof thoseτῶνbeing kingsβασιλευόντωνandκαὶ[the] Lordκύριοςof thoseτῶνbeing lordsκυριευόντων,

16ὁaloneμόνοςhavingἔχωνimmortalityἀθανασίαν,in lightφῶςdwellingοἰκῶνunapproachableἀπρόσιτον,whomὃνhas seenεἶδενno oneοὐδεὶςof menἀνθρώπωνnorοὐδὲto seeἰδεῖνis ableδύναται·to whom [be]ᾧhonorτιμὴandκαὶdominionκράτοςeternalαἰώνιον·Amenἀμήν.

17To theΤοῖςrichπλουσίοιςinἐνtheτῷpresentνῦνageαἰῶνιinstruct [them]παράγγελλεnotμὴto be high-mindedὑψηλοφρονεῖνnorμηδὲto have hopeἠλπικέναιinἐπὶof richesπλούτου[the] uncertaintyἀδηλότητι,butἀλλ’onἐπὶGodθεῷthe [One]τῷprovidingπαρέχοντιusἡμῖνall thingsπάνταrichlyπλουσίωςforεἰςenjoymentἀπόλαυσιν,

18to do goodἀγαθοεργεῖν,to be richπλουτεῖνinἐνworksἔργοιςgoodκαλοῖς,generous in distributingεὐμεταδότουςto beεἶναι,ready to shareκοινωνικούς,

19treasuring upἀποθησαυρίζονταςfor themselvesἑαυτοῖςa foundationθεμέλιονgoodκαλὸνforεἰςtheτὸfutureμέλλον,so thatἵναthey may take holdἐπιλάβωνταιofτῆςthat which is indeedὄντωςlifeζωῆς.

20OὮTimothyΤιμόθεε,theτὴνdeposit committed [to you]παραθήκηνguardφύλαξον,avoidingἐκτρεπόμενοςτὰςprofaneβεβήλουςempty babblingsκενοφωνίαςandκαὶopposing argumentsἀντιθέσειςτῆςfalsely calledψευδωνύμουknowledgeγνώσεως,

21whichἥνsomeτινεςprofessingἐπαγγελλόμενοιfromπερὶtheτὴνfaithπίστινhave gone astrayἠστόχησαν.ἩGrace [be]χάριςwithμεθ’you allὑμῶν.
