1 Thessalonians 3
1ThereforeΔιὸno longerμηκέτιenduringστέγοντεςwe thought it bestεὐδοκήσαμενto be left behindκαταλειφθῆναιinἐνAthensἈθήναιςaloneμόνοι,
2andκαὶwe sentἐπέμψαμενTimothyΤιμόθεον,theτὸνbrotherἀδελφὸνof usἡμῶνandκαὶfellow workerσυνεργὸντοῦof Godθεοῦinἐνtheτῷgospelεὐαγγελίῳτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦ,in orderεἰςτὸto strengthenστηρίξαιyouὑμᾶςandκαὶto encourageπαρακαλέσαιconcerningὑπὲρtheτῆςfaithπίστεωςof youὑμῶν
3thatτὸno oneμηδέναbe movedσαίνεσθαιinἐνtheταῖςtribulationsθλίψεσινtheseταύταις.Yourselvesαὐτοὶforγὰρyou knowοἴδατεthatὅτιforεἰςthisτοῦτοwe are destinedκείμεθα·
4Andκαὶindeedγὰρwhenὅτεwithπρὸςyouὑμᾶςwe wereἦμεν,we were telling beforehandπροελέγομενyouὑμῖνthatὅτιwe are aboutμέλλομενto suffer afflictionθλίβεσθαι,just asκαθὼςalsoκαὶit came to passἐγένετοandκαὶyou knowοἴδατε.
5Because ofδιὰthisτοῦτοI alsoκἀγὼno longerμηκέτιenduringστέγωνsentἔπεμψαin orderεἰςτὸto knowγνῶναιtheτὴνfaithπίστινof youὑμῶν,lestμήsomehowπωςhad temptedἐπείρασενyouὑμᾶςthe [one]ὁtemptingπειράζωνandκαὶinεἰςvainκενὸνwould beγένηταιtheὁlaborκόποςof usἡμῶν.
6PresentlyἌρτιhoweverδὲhaving comeἐλθόντοςTimothyΤιμοθέουtoπρὸςusἡμᾶςfromἀφ’youὑμῶνandκαὶhaving brought good newsεὐαγγελισαμένουto usἡμῖνof theτὴνfaithπίστινandκαὶtheτὴνloveἀγάπηνof youὑμῶν,andκαὶthatὅτιyou haveἔχετεa remembranceμνείανof usἡμῶνgoodἀγαθὴνalwaysπάντοτεlongingἐπιποθοῦντεςusἡμᾶςto seeἰδεῖνjust asκαθάπερalsoκαὶweἡμεῖςyouὑμᾶς,
7because ofδιὰthisτοῦτοwe were encouragedπαρεκλήθημεν,brothersἀδελφοί,as toἐφ’youὑμῖνinἐπὶallπάσῃtheτῇdistressἀνάγκῃandκαὶtribulationθλίψειof usἡμῶνthroughδιὰτῆςyourὑμῶνfaithπίστεως,
8Forὅτιnowνῦνwe liveζῶμενifἐὰνyouὑμεῖςare standing firmστήκετεinἐν[the] Lordκυρίῳ.
9Whatτίναforγὰρthanksgivingεὐχαριστίανare we ableδυνάμεθατῷto Godθεῷto giveἀνταποδοῦναιconcerningπερὶyouὑμῶνin return forἐπὶallπάσῃtheτῇjoyχαρᾷthatᾗwe rejoiceχαίρομενbecause ofδι’youὑμᾶςbeforeἔμπροσθενtheτοῦGodθεοῦof usἡμῶν,
10nightνυκτὸςandκαὶdayἡμέραςexceedinglyὑπερεκπερισσοῦimploringδεόμενοιfor [us]εἰςτὸto seeἰδεῖνyourὑμῶντὸfaceπρόσωπονandκαὶto supplyκαταρτίσαιthe thingsτὰlackingὑστερήματαin theτῆςfaithπίστεωςof youὑμῶν;
11HimselfΑὐτὸςnowδὲtheὁGodθεὸςandκαὶFatherπατὴρof usἡμῶνandκαὶtheὁLordκύριοςof usἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦςmay directκατευθύναιtheτὴνwayὁδὸνof usἡμῶνtoπρὸςyouὑμᾶς·
12YouὑμᾶςnowδὲtheὁLordκύριοςmay make to increaseπλεονάσαιandκαὶto aboundπερισσεύσαιτῇin loveἀγάπῃtowardεἰςone anotherἀλλήλουςandκαὶtowardεἰςallπάντας,just asκαθάπερalsoκαὶweἡμεῖςtowardεἰςyouὑμᾶς,
13in orderεἰςτὸto strengthenστηρίξαιyourὑμῶντὰςheartsκαρδίαςblamelessἀμέμπτουςinἐνholinessἁγιωσύνῃbeforeἔμπροσθενtheτοῦGodθεοῦandκαὶFatherπατρὸςof usἡμῶνatἐνtheτῇcomingπαρουσίᾳof theτοῦLordκυρίουof usἡμῶνJesusἸησοῦwithμετὰallπάντωνtheτῶνsaintsἁγίωνof Himαὐτοῦ.
