1 Corinthians 10
1NotΟὐI wantθέλωforγὰρyouὑμᾶςto be ignorantἀγνοεῖν,brothersἀδελφοί,thatὅτιtheοἱfathersπατέρεςof usἡμῶνallπάντεςunderὑπὸtheτὴνcloudνεφέληνwereἦσανandκαὶallπάντεςthroughδιὰtheτῆςseaθαλάσσηςpassedδιῆλθον,
2andκαὶallπάντεςintoεἰςτὸνMosesΜωϋσῆνwere baptizedἐβαπτίσαντοinἐνtheτῇcloudνεφέλῃandκαὶinἐνtheτῇseaθαλάσσῃ,
3andκαὶallπάντεςtheτὸsameαὐτὸspiritualπνευματικὸνfoodβρῶμαateἔφαγον
4andκαὶallπάντεςtheτὸsameαὐτὸspiritualπνευματικὸνdrankἔπιονdrinkπόμα,they were drinkingἔπινονforγὰρfromἐκ[the] spiritualπνευματικῆςaccompanying [them]ἀκολουθούσηςrockπέτρας,theἡrockπέτραthenδὲwasἦνὁChristΧριστός·
5Neverthelessἀλλ’notοὐκwithἐντοῖςmostπλείοσινof themαὐτῶνwas well pleasedηὐδόκησενὁGodθεός,they were strewnκατεστρώθησανforγὰρinἐνtheτῇwildernessἐρήμῳ.
6These thingsΤαῦταnowδὲtypesτύποιto usἡμῶνhave becomeἐγενήθησαν,forεἰςτὸnotμὴto beεἶναιusἡμᾶςdesirersἐπιθυμητὰςof evil thingsκακῶν,asκαθὼςthey alsoκἀκεῖνοιdesiredἐπεθύμησαν.
7Neitherμηδὲidolatersεἰδωλολάτραιare you to beγίνεσθε,asκαθώςsomeτινεςof themαὐτῶν·asὥσπερit has been writtenγέγραπται·Sat downἘκάθισενtheὁpeopleλαὸςto eatφαγεῖνandκαὶto drinkπεῖν,andκαὶrose upἀνέστησανto playπαίζειν.
8Neitherμηδὲshould we commit sexual immoralityπορνεύωμεν,asκαθώςsomeτινεςof themαὐτῶνcommitted sexual immoralityἐπόρνευσαν,andκαὶfellἔπεσανin oneμιᾷdayἡμέρᾳtwenty-εἴκοσιthreeτρεῖςthousandχιλιάδες.
9Neitherμηδὲshould we testἐκπειράζωμενtheτὸνChristΧριστόν,asκαθώςsomeτινεςof themαὐτῶνtestedἐπείρασαν,andκαὶbyὑπὸτῶνserpentsὄφεωνwere destroyedἀπώλλυντο.
10Neitherμηδὲare you to grumbleγογγύζετε,asκαθάπερsomeτινὲςof themαὐτῶνgrumbledἐγόγγυσαν,andκαὶperishedἀπώλοντοbyὑπὸtheτοῦDestroyerὀλοθρευτοῦ.
11These thingsταῦταnowδὲ[as] typesτυπικῶςhappenedσυνέβαινενto themἐκείνοις,were writtenἐγράφηthenδὲforπρὸςadmonitionνουθεσίανof usἡμῶν,toεἰςwhomοὓςtheτὰendsτέληof theτῶνagesαἰώνωνare arrivedκατήντηκεν.
12Thereforeὥστεthe [one]ὁthinkingδοκῶνto standἑστάναιlet him take heedβλεπέτωlestμὴhe fallπέσῃ,
13Temptationπειρασμὸςyouὑμᾶςnotοὐκhas seizedεἴληφενifεἰnotμὴwhat is common to manἀνθρώπινος·faithfulπιστὸςnowδὲὁ[is] Godθεός,whoὃςnotοὐκwill allowἐάσειyouὑμᾶςto be temptedπειρασθῆναιbeyondὑπὲρwhatὃyou are ableδύνασθε,butἀλλὰwill provideποιήσειwithσὺνtheτῷtemptationπειρασμῷalsoκαὶtheτὴνescapeἔκβασιντοῦto be ableδύνασθαιto endure [it]ὑπενεγκεῖν.
14ThereforeΔιόπερ,belovedἀγαπητοίof meμου,fleeφεύγετεfromἀπὸτῆςidolatryεἰδωλολατρίας.
15Asὡςto sensible [ones]φρονίμοιςI speakλέγω·judgeκρίνατεfor yourselvesὑμεῖςwhatὅI sayφημι.
16Theτὸcupποτήριοντῆςof blessingεὐλογίαςthatὃwe blessεὐλογοῦμεν,notοὐχὶa participationκοινωνίαis itἐστὶνin theτοῦbloodαἵματοςτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦ;Theτὸνbreadἄρτονthatὃνwe breakκλῶμεν,notοὐχὶa participationκοινωνίαin theτοῦbodyσώματοςτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦis itἐστιν;
17Because [there is]ὅτιoneεἷςloafἄρτος,oneἓνbodyσῶμαtheοἱmanyπολλοίwe areἐσμεν,οἱforγὰρallπάντεςofἐκtheτοῦoneἑνὸςloafἄρτουwe partakeμετέχομεν.
18ConsiderβλέπετετὸνIsraelἸσραὴλaccording toκατὰfleshσάρκα·Notοὐχthoseοἱeatingἐσθίοντεςtheτὰςsacrificesθυσίαςfellow partakersκοινωνοὶin theτοῦaltarθυσιαστηρίουareεἰσίν;
19Whatτίthenοὖνdo I meanφημι;Thatὅτιwhat is sacrificed to an idolεἰδωλόθυτόνanythingτίisἐστιν,orἢthatὅτιan idolεἴδωλόνanythingτίisἐστιν;
20Ratherἀλλ’thatὅτιwhatἃsacrificeθύουσιν,to demonsδαιμονίοιςandκαὶnotοὐto Godθεῷthey sacrificeθύουσιν,NotοὐI do wishθέλωnowδὲyouὑμᾶςfellow partakersκοινωνοὺςτῶνwith demonsδαιμονίωνto beγίνεσθαι.
21Notοὐyou are ableδύνασθε[the] cupποτήριονof [the] Lordκυρίουto drinkπίνεινandκαὶ[the] cupποτήριονof demonsδαιμονίων·Notοὐyou are ableδύνασθεof [the] tableτραπέζηςof [the] Lordκυρίουto partakeμετέχεινandκαὶof [the] tableτραπέζηςof demonsδαιμονίων.
22Orἢdo we provoke to jealousyπαραζηλοῦμενtheτὸνLordκύριον;Notμὴstrongerἰσχυρότεροιthan Heαὐτοῦare weἐσμεν;
23All thingsΠάνταare lawfulἔξεστιν·butἀλλ’notοὐall thingsπάνταare profitableσυμφέρει.All thingsπάνταare lawfulἔξεστιν·butἀλλ’notοὐallπάνταedifyοἰκοδομεῖ.
24No oneμηδεὶςthe [good]τὸof himselfἑαυτοῦlet seekζητείτωbutἀλλὰthatτὸof theτοῦotherἑτέρου.
25Everythingπᾶντὸinἐνthe meat marketμακέλλῳbeing soldπωλούμενονeatἐσθίετεnothingμηδὲνinquiringἀνακρίνοντεςon account ofδιὰτὴνconscienceσυνείδησιν,
26TheτοῦLord’sκυρίουforγὰρ[is] theἡearthγῆandκαὶtheτὸfullnessπλήρωμαof itαὐτῆς.
27Ifεἴanyoneτιςinvitesκαλεῖyouὑμᾶςof theτῶνunbelievingἀπίστωνandκαὶyou wishθέλετεto goπορεύεσθαι,everythingπᾶντὸbeing set beforeπαρατιθέμενονyouὑμῖνeatἐσθίετεnothingμηδὲνinquiringἀνακρίνοντεςon account ofδιὰτὴνconscienceσυνείδησιν·
28Ifἐὰνhoweverδέanyoneτιςto youὑμῖνshould sayεἴπῃ·ThisΤοῦτοoffered to an idolἱερόθυτόνisἐστιν,notμὴdo eatἐσθίετεon account ofδι’himἐκεῖνοντὸνhaving shown [it]μηνύσανταandκαὶτὴνconscienceσυνείδησιν·
29[the] conscienceσυνείδησινnowδὲI am sayingλέγωnotοὐχὶτὴνyour ownἑαυτοῦbutἀλλὰthatτὴνof theτοῦotherἑτέρου·whyἱνατίforγὰρtheἡfreedomἐλευθερίαof meμουis judgedκρίνεταιbyὑπὸanother’sἄλληςconscienceσυνειδήσεως;
30IfεἰIἐγὼwith thankfulnessχάριτιpartakeμετέχω,whyτίam I denouncedβλασφημοῦμαιforὑπὲρthat whichοὗIἐγὼgive thanksεὐχαριστῶ;
31WhetherΕἴτεthereforeοὖνyou eatἐσθίετεorεἴτεdrinkπίνετεorεἴτεwhateverτιyou doποιεῖτε,all thingsπάνταto theεἰςgloryδόξανof Godθεοῦdoποιεῖτε.
32Without offenseἀπρόσκοποιbothκαὶto JewsἸουδαίοιςbe youγίνεσθεandκαὶGreeksἝλλησινandκαὶto theτῇchurchἐκκλησίᾳτοῦof Godθεοῦ,
33asκαθὼςI alsoκἀγὼallπάνταin all thingsπᾶσινpleaseἀρέσκω,notμὴseekingζητῶνtheτὸof myselfἐμαυτοῦprofitσύμφορονbutἀλλὰthatτὸof theτῶνmanyπολλῶν,thatἵναthey may be savedσωθῶσιν.
