1 Corinthians 9

1NotΟὐκam Iεἰμὶfreeἐλεύθερος;Notοὐκam Iεἰμὶan apostleἀπόστολος;NotοὐχὶJesusἸησοῦνtheτὸνLordκύριονof usἡμῶνhave I seenἑόρακα;Notοὐtheτὸworkἔργονof meμουyouὑμεῖςareἐστεinἐν[the] Lordκυρίῳ;

2Ifεἰto othersἄλλοιςnotοὐκI amεἰμὶan apostleἀπόστολος,yetἀλλάat leastγεto youὑμῖνI amεἰμι,theἡforγὰρsealσφραγίςof myμουtheτῆςapostleshipἀποστολῆςyouὑμεῖςareἐστεinἐν[the] Lordκυρίῳ.

3ἩMyἐμὴdefenseἀπολογίαto thoseτοῖςmeἐμὲexaminingἀνακρίνουσίνisἐστινthisαὕτη.

4Noμὴnotοὐκhave weἔχομεν[the] rightἐξουσίανto eatφαγεῖνandκαὶto drinkπεῖν;

5Noμὴnotοὐκhave weἔχομενauthorityἐξουσίανa sisterἀδελφὴνa wifeγυναῖκαto take aboutπεριάγειν,asὡςalsoκαὶtheοἱotherλοιποὶapostlesἀπόστολοιandκαὶtheοἱbrothersἀδελφοὶof theτοῦLordκυρίουandκαὶCephasΚηφᾶς;

6OrἢonlyμόνοςIἐγὼandκαὶBarnabasΒαρναβᾶςnotοὐκhave weἔχομενauthorityἐξουσίανnotμὴto workἐργάζεσθαι;

7Whoτίςserves as a soldierστρατεύεταιat his ownἰδίοιςexpenseὀψωνίοιςat any timeποτέ;Whoτίςplantsφυτεύειa vineyardἀμπελῶναandκαὶtheτὸνfruitκαρπὸνof itαὐτοῦnotοὐκdoes eatἐσθίει;whoτίςshepherdsποιμαίνειa flockποίμνηνandκαὶfromἐκtheτοῦmilkγάλακτοςof theτῆςflockποίμνηςnotοὐκdoes drinkἐσθίει;

8NotΜὴaccording toκατὰmanἄνθρωπονthese thingsταῦταdo I speakλαλῶOrἢalsoκαὶtheὁlawνόμοςthese thingsταῦταnotοὐsaysλέγει;

9Inἐνforγὰρtheτῷof MosesΜωϋσέωςlawνόμῳit has been writtenγέγραπται·NotΟὐyou shall muzzleκημώσειςan oxβοῦνtreading out grainἀλοῶντα.Notμὴfor theτῶνoxenβοῶνis there careμέλειτῷwith Godθεῷ,

10Orἢbecause ofδι’usἡμᾶςentirelyπάντωςis He speakingλέγει;For sake ofδι’usἡμᾶςforγὰρit was writtenἐγράφη,becauseὅτιoughtὀφείλειinἐπ’hopeἐλπίδιthe [one]ὁplowingἀροτριῶνto plowἀροτριᾶν,andκαὶthe [one]ὁthreshingἀλοῶνinἐπ’hopeἐλπίδιτοῦto partakeμετέχειν.

11Ifεἰweἡμεῖςamong youὑμῖντὰspiritual thingsπνευματικὰhave sownἐσπείραμεν,[is it] a great thingμέγαifεἰweἡμεῖςfrom youὑμῶντὰmaterial thingsσαρκικὰwill reapθερίσομεν;

12Ifεἰothersἄλλοιof theτῆςover youὑμῶνauthorityἐξουσίαςpartakeμετέχουσιν,[should] notοὐmoreμᾶλλονweἡμεῖς;ButἈλλ’notοὐκwe did useἐχρησάμεθαtheτῇrightἐξουσίᾳthisταύτῃ,Insteadἀλλὰall thingsπάνταwe bearστέγομενso thatἵναnotμήanyτιναhindranceἐγκοπὴνwe should placeδῶμενto theτῷgospelεὐαγγελίῳofτοῦChristΧριστοῦ.

13Notοὐκknow youοἴδατεthatὅτιthoseοἱin theτὰtempleἱερὰworkingἐργαζόμενοιthe thingsτὰofἐκtheτοῦtempleἱεροῦeatἐσθίουσιν,thoseοἱat theτῷaltarθυσιαστηρίῳattendingπαρεδρεύοντεςin theτῷaltarθυσιαστηρίῳpartakeσυμμερίζονται;

14SoοὕτωςalsoκαὶtheὁLordκύριοςhas prescribedδιέταξενto thoseτοῖςtheτὸgospelεὐαγγέλιονproclaimingκαταγγέλλουσινfromἐκtheτοῦgospelεὐαγγελίουto liveζῆν.

15IἘγὼhoweverδὲnotοὐhave usedκέχρημαιnoneοὐδενὶof theseτούτων.Neitherοὐκhave I writtenἔγραψαnowδὲthese thingsταῦταthatἵναthusοὕτωςit should beγένηταιwithἐνmeἐμοί,[it were] goodκαλὸνforγάρmeμοιratherμᾶλλονto dieἀποθανεῖνthanἤ—theτὸboastingκαύχημάof meμουanyoneοὐδεὶςwill make voidκενώσει.

16IfἐὰνforγὰρI preach the gospelεὐαγγελίζωμαι,nothingοὐκthere isἔστινto meμοιboastingκαύχημα,necessityἀνάγκηforγάρmeμοιis laid uponἐπίκειται·Woeοὐαὶhoweverγάρto meμοίbeἐστινifἐὰνnotμὴI should preach the gospelεὐαγγελίσωμαι.

17IfεἰforγὰρwillinglyἑκὼνthisτοῦτοI doπράσσω,a rewardμισθὸνI haveἔχω·ifεἰhoweverδὲunwillinglyἄκων,a stewardshipοἰκονομίανI am entrusted withπεπίστευμαι.

18Whatτίςthenοὖνof meμούisἐστινtheὁrewardμισθός;Thatἵναin preaching the gospelεὐαγγελιζόμενοςfree of chargeἀδάπανονI should offerθήσωtheτὸgospelεὐαγγέλιον,so asεἰςτὸnotμὴto use upκαταχρήσασθαιtheτῇrightἐξουσίᾳof meμουinἐνtheτῷgospelεὐαγγελίῳ.

19FreeἘλεύθεροςforγὰρbeingὢνfromἐκallπάντωνto allπᾶσινmyselfἐμαυτὸνI became servantἐδούλωσα,so thatἵναtheτοὺςmoreπλείοναςI might gainκερδήσω·

20AndκαὶI becameἐγενόμηνto theτοῖςJewsἸουδαίοιςlikeὡςa JewἸουδαῖος,so thatἵναJewsἸουδαίουςI might winκερδήσω·To thoseτοῖςunderὑπὸ[the] Lawνόμονasὡςunderὑπὸ[the] lawνόμον,notμὴbeingὢνmyselfαὐτὸςunderὑπὸ[the] lawνόμον,so thatἵναthoseτοὺςunderὑπὸ[the] lawνόμονI might winκερδήσω·

21To thoseτοῖςoutside [the] Lawἀνόμοιςlikeὡςoutside [the] Lawἄνομος,notμὴbeingὢνoutside [the] lawἄνομοςof Godθεοῦbutἀλλ’under [the] lawἔννομοςto ChristΧριστοῦ,so thatἵναI might winκερδάνωthoseτοὺςoutside [the] Lawἀνόμους·

22I becameἐγενόμηνto theτοῖςweakἀσθενέσινweakἀσθενής,thatἵναtheτοὺςweakἀσθενεῖςI might winκερδήσω·These thingsτοῖςto allπᾶσινI have becomeγέγοναallπάντα,so thatἵναby all meansπάντωςsomeτινὰςI might saveσώσω.

23All [things]πάνταnowδὲI doποιῶon account ofδιὰtheτὸgospelεὐαγγέλιον,thatἵναa fellow partakerσυγκοινωνὸςwith itαὐτοῦI might becomeγένωμαι.

24NotΟὐκknow youοἴδατεthatὅτιthoseοἱinἐνa race courseσταδίῳrunningτρέχοντεςallπάντεςindeedμὲνrunτρέχουσιν,oneεἷςhoweverδὲreceivesλαμβάνειtheτὸprizeβραβεῖον;Thusοὕτωςrunτρέχετεthatἵναyou might obtain [it]καταλάβητε.

25Everyoneπᾶςnowδὲὁstrivingἀγωνιζόμενοςin all thingsπάνταcontrols himselfἐγκρατεύεται,theyἐκεῖνοιindeedμὲνthenοὖνthatἵναa perishableφθαρτὸνcrownστέφανονthey might receiveλάβωσιν,weἡμεῖςhoweverδὲan imperishableἄφθαρτον.

26Iἐγὼthereforeτοίνυνthusοὕτωςrunτρέχωasὡςnotοὐκuncertainlyἀδήλως,soοὕτωςI fightπυκτεύωasὡςnotοὐκ[the] airἀέραbeatingδέρων·

27ButἀλλὰI batterὑπωπιάζωof meμουtheτὸbodyσῶμαandκαὶbring [it] into servitudeδουλαγωγῶ,notμήhardlyπωςto othersἄλλοιςhaving preachedκηρύξαςmyselfαὐτὸςdisqualifiedἀδόκιμοςI might beγένωμαι.
