Romans 4

1WhatΤίthenοὖνshall we sayἐροῦμενdiscoveredεὑρηκέναιAbrahamἈβραὰμtheτὸνfatherπροπάτοραof usἡμῶνaccording toκατὰ[the] fleshσάρκα;

2IfεἰforγὰρAbrahamἈβραὰμbyἐξworksἔργωνwas justifiedἐδικαιώθη,he hasἔχειground of boastingκαύχημα·butἀλλ’notοὐtowardπρὸςGodθεόν,

3WhatτίforγὰρtheἡScriptureγραφὴsaysλέγει;BelievedἘπίστευσενthenδὲAbrahamἈβραὰμτῷGodθεῷandκαὶit was reckonedἐλογίσθηto himαὐτῷforεἰςrighteousnessδικαιοσύνην.

4To the [one]τῷnowδὲworkingἐργαζομένῳtheὁrewardμισθὸςnotοὐis reckonedλογίζεταιaccording toκατὰgraceχάρινbutἀλλὰaccording toκατὰdebtὀφείλημα·

5To the [one]τῷhoweverδὲnotμὴworkingἐργαζομένῳ,believingπιστεύοντιhoweverδὲonἐπὶthe [One]τὸνjustifyingδικαιοῦνταtheτὸνungodlyἀσεβῆ,is reckonedλογίζεταιtheἡfaithπίστιςof himαὐτοῦforεἰςrighteousnessδικαιοσύνην,

6just asκαθάπερalsoκαὶDavidΔαυὶδdeclaresλέγειtheτὸνblessednessμακαρισμὸνof theτοῦmanἀνθρώπουto whomᾧὁGodθεὸςcreditsλογίζεταιrighteousnessδικαιοσύνηνapart fromχωρὶςworksἔργων·

7BlessedΜακάριοι[are they] of whomὧνare forgivenἀφέθησανtheαἱlawless deedsἀνομίαιandκαὶof whomὧνare coveredἐπεκαλύφθησανtheαἱsinsἁμαρτίαι,

8blessedμακάριος[the] manἀνὴρagainst whomοὗnoοὐnotμὴwill reckonλογίσηται[the] Lordκύριοςsinἁμαρτίαν.

9[Is] theὉblessingμακαρισμὸςthenοὖνthisοὗτοςonἐπὶtheτὴνcircumcisionπεριτομὴνorἢalsoκαὶonἐπὶtheτὴνuncircumcisionἀκροβυστίαν;We are sayingλέγομενforγάρ·was creditedἘλογίσθητῷto AbrahamἈβραὰμtheἡfaithπίστιςasεἰςrighteousnessδικαιοσύνην.

10Howπῶςthenοὖνwas it creditedἐλογίσθη;Inἐνcircumcisionπεριτομῇbeingὄντιorἢinἐνuncircumcisionἀκροβυστίᾳ;Notοὐκinἐνcircumcisionπεριτομῇbutἀλλ’inἐνuncircumcisionἀκροβυστίᾳ·

11Andκαὶ[the] signσημεῖονhe receivedἔλαβενof circumcisionπεριτομῆς,a sealσφραγῖδαof theτῆςrighteousnessδικαιοσύνηςof theτῆςfaithπίστεωςthat [he had]τῆς[while] inἐνtheτῇuncircumcisionἀκροβυστίᾳ,forεἰςtheτὸto beεἶναιhimαὐτὸνfatherπατέραof allπάντωνthoseτῶνbelievingπιστευόντωνinδι’uncircumcisionἀκροβυστίας,forεἰςτὸto be creditedλογισθῆναιto themαὐτοῖςtheτὴνrighteousnessδικαιοσύνην,

12andκαὶfatherπατέραof circumcisionπεριτομῆςto thoseτοῖςnotοὐκofἐκcircumcisionπεριτομῆςonlyμόνονbutἀλλὰalsoκαὶto thoseτοῖςwalkingστοιχοῦσινin theτοῖςstepsἴχνεσινof theτῆςduringἐνuncircumcisionἀκροβυστίᾳfaithπίστεωςof theτοῦfatherπατρὸςof usἡμῶνAbrahamἈβραάμ.

13NotΟὐforγὰρthroughδιὰ[the] Lawνόμουtheἡpromise [was]ἐπαγγελίατῷto AbrahamἈβραὰμorἢtheτῷdescendantsσπέρματιof himαὐτοῦ,thatτὸheirκληρονόμονheαὐτὸνshould beεἶναι[of the] worldκόσμου,butἀλλὰthroughδιὰ[the] righteousnessδικαιοσύνηςof faithπίστεως·

14Ifεἰforγὰρthoseοἱofἐκ[the] Law [are]νόμουheirsκληρονόμοι,has been made voidκεκένωταιἡfaithπίστιςandκαὶmade of no effectκατήργηταιtheἡpromiseἐπαγγελία·

15ὁForγὰρlawνόμοςwrathὀργὴνbringsκατεργάζεται,whereοὗnowδὲnoοὐκthere isἔστινlawνόμος,neither [is]οὐδὲtransgressionπαράβασις.

16ThereforeΔιὰit [is]τοῦτοofἐκfaithπίστεως,that [it may be]ἵναaccording toκατὰgraceχάριν,forεἰςτὸto beεἶναιsureβεβαίανtheτὴνpromiseἐπαγγελίανto allπαντὶtheτῷseedσπέρματι,notοὐto thatτῷofἐκtheτοῦlawνόμουonlyμόνονbutἀλλὰalsoκαὶto thatτῷof [the]ἐκfaithπίστεωςof AbrahamἈβραάμwhoὅςisἐστιν[the] fatherπατὴρof allπάντωνof usἡμῶν,

17asκαθὼςit has been writtenγέγραπταιὅτιA fatherΠατέραof manyπολλῶνnationsἐθνῶνI have madeτέθεικάyouσε,beforeκατέναντιwhomοὗhe believedἐπίστευσενGodθεοῦthe [One]τοῦgiving lifeζῳοποιοῦντοςto theτοὺςdeadνεκροὺςandκαὶcallingκαλοῦντοςthe thingsτὰnotμὴ[into] beingὄνταevenὡςexistingὄντα·

18whoὃςagainstπαρ’hopeἐλπίδαinἐπ’hopeἐλπίδιbelievedἐπίστευσενforεἰςτὸto becomeγενέσθαιhimαὐτὸν[the] fatherπατέραof manyπολλῶνnationsἐθνῶνaccording toκατὰthatτὸhaving been spokenεἰρημένον·SoΟὕτωςshall beἔσταιtheτὸoffspringσπέρμαof youσου·

19Andκαὶnotμὴhaving become weakἀσθενήσαςin theτῇfaithπίστειhe consideredκατενόησεντὸof himselfἑαυτοῦthe bodyσῶμαhaving become deadνενεκρωμένον,a hundred years oldἑκατονταετήςaboutπουbeingὑπάρχων,andκαὶtheτὴνlifelessnessνέκρωσινof theτῆςwombμήτραςof SarahΣάρρας,

20Atεἰςhoweverδὲtheτὴνpromiseἐπαγγελίαντοῦof Godθεοῦnotοὐhe did waverδιεκρίθητῇthrough unbeliefἀπιστίᾳbutἀλλὰwas strengthenedἐνεδυναμώθητῇin faithπίστει,having givenδοὺςgloryδόξαντῷto Godθεῷ

21andκαὶhaving been fully assuredπληροφορηθεὶςthatὅτιwhatὃHe had promisedἐπήγγελταιableδυνατόςHe isἐστινalsoκαὶto doποιῆσαι.

22Thereforeδιὸit was creditedἐλογίσθηto himαὐτῷuntoεἰςrighteousnessδικαιοσύνην.

23NotΟὐκit was writtenἐγράφηnowδὲon account ofδι’himαὐτὸνaloneμόνονthatὅτιit was creditedἐλογίσθηto himαὐτῷ,

24butἀλλὰalsoκαὶon account ofδι’usἡμᾶςto whomοἷςit is aboutμέλλειto be creditedλογίζεσθαι,to thoseτοῖςbelievingπιστεύουσινonἐπὶthe [One]τὸνhaving raisedἐγείρανταJesusἸησοῦνtheτὸνLordκύριονof usἡμῶνout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶν,

25whoὃςwas delivered overπαρεδόθηforδιὰtheτὰtrespassesπαραπτώματαof usἡμῶνandκαὶwas raisedἠγέρθηforδιὰtheτὴνjustificationδικαίωσινof usἡμῶν.
