Matthew 20
1LikeὉμοίαforγάρisἐστινtheἡkingdomβασιλείαof theτῶνheavensοὐρανῶνto a manἀνθρώπῳa master of a houseοἰκοδεσπότῃwhoὅστιςwent outἐξῆλθενin [the]ἅμαmorningπρωῒto hireμισθώσασθαιworkmenἐργάταςforεἰςtheτὸνvineyardἀμπελῶναof himαὐτοῦ.
2Having agreedσυμφωνήσαςthenδὲwithμετὰtheτῶνworkmenἐργατῶνforἐκa denariusδηναρίουfor theτὴνdayἡμέρανhe sentἀπέστειλενthemαὐτοὺςintoεἰςtheτὸνvineyardἀμπελῶναof himαὐτοῦ.
3Andκαὶhaving gone outἐξελθὼνaboutπερὶthe thirdτρίτηνhourὥρανhe sawεἶδενothersἄλλουςstandingἑστῶταςinἐνtheτῇmarketplaceἀγορᾷidleἀργούς·
4andκαὶto themἐκείνοιςhe saidεἶπεν·GoὙπάγετεalsoκαὶyouὑμεῖςintoεἰςtheτὸνvineyardἀμπελῶνα,andκαὶwhateverὃifἐὰνmight beᾖrightδίκαιονI will giveδώσωyouὑμῖν·
5οἱAndδὲthey wentἀπῆλθον.Againπάλινhaving gone outἐξελθὼνabout [the]περὶsixthἕκτηνandκαὶninthἐνάτηνhourὥρανhe didἐποίησενlikewiseὡσαύτως.
6Aboutπερὶthenδὲtheτὴνeleventhἑνδεκάτηνhaving gone outἐξελθὼνhe foundεὗρενothersἄλλουςstandingἑστῶτας,andκαὶhe saysλέγειto themαὐτοῖς·WhyΤίhereὧδεstand youἑστήκατεallὅληνtheτὴνdayἡμέρανidleἀργοί;
7They sayλέγουσινto himαὐτῷ·BecauseὍτιno oneοὐδεὶςusἡμᾶςhas hiredἐμισθώσατο.He saysλέγειto themαὐτοῖς·GoὙπάγετεalsoκαὶYouὑμεῖςintoεἰςtheτὸνvineyardἀμπελῶνα.
8Eveningὀψίαςthenδὲhaving arrivedγενομένηςsaysλέγειtheὁmasterκύριοςof theτοῦvineyardἀμπελῶνοςtoτῷforemanἐπιτρόπῳof himαὐτοῦ·CallΚάλεσονtheτοὺςworkmenἐργάταςandκαὶpayἀπόδοςthemαὐτοῖςtheτὸνwagesμισθὸνhaving begunἀρξάμενοςfromἀπὸtheτῶνlastἐσχάτωνuntoἕωςtheτῶνfirstπρώτων.
9andκαὶhaving comeἐλθόντεςthose [hired]οἱaboutπερὶtheτὴνeleventhἑνδεκάτηνhourὥρανthey receivedἔλαβονeachἀνὰa denariusδηνάριον.
10Andκαὶhaving comeἐλθόντεςtheοἱfirstπρῶτοιthey thoughtἐνόμισανthatὅτιmoreπλεῖονthey will receiveλήμψονται·butκαὶthey receivedἔλαβονthoseτὸeachἀνὰa denariusδηνάριονalsoκαὶthemselvesαὐτοί.
11Having receivedλαβόντεςnowδὲthey were grumblingἐγόγγυζονagainstκατὰtheτοῦmaster of the houseοἰκοδεσπότου
12sayingλέγοντες·TheseΟὗτοιtheοἱlastἔσχατοιoneμίανhourὥρανhave workedἐποίησαν,andκαὶequalἴσουςthemαὐτοὺςto usἡμῖνyou have madeἐποίησαςthoseτοῖςhaving borneβαστάσασιtheτὸburdenβάροςof theτῆςdayἡμέραςandκαὶtheτὸνscorching heatκαύσωνα.
13ὁAndδὲansweringἀποκριθεὶςto oneἑνὶof themαὐτῶνhe saidεἶπεν·FriendἙταῖρε,notοὐκI do wrongἀδικῶyouσε·Notοὐχὶfor a denariusδηναρίουdid you agree withσυνεφώνησάςmeμοι;
14Takeἆρονwhat [is]τὸyoursσὸνandκαὶgoὕπαγε·I desireθέλωnowδὲto thisτούτῳτῷlastἐσχάτῳto giveδοῦναιasὡςalsoκαὶto youσοί·
15notοὐκis it lawfulἔξεστίνfor meμοιwhatὃI willθέλωto doποιῆσαιwithἐνthat which [is]τοῖςmineἐμοῖς;Orἢtheὁeyeὀφθαλμόςof youσουenviousπονηρόςisἐστινbecauseὅτιIἐγὼgenerousἀγαθόςamεἰμι;
16Thusοὕτωςwill beἔσονταιtheοἱlastἔσχατοιfirstπρῶτοιandκαὶtheοἱfirstπρῶτοιlastἔσχατοι.
17andΚαὶgoing upἀναβαίνωνὁJesusἸησοῦςtoεἰςJerusalemἹεροσόλυμαHe tookπαρέλαβενtheτοὺςtwelveδώδεκαdisciplesμαθητὰςasideκατ’themselvesἰδίαν,andκαὶonἐνtheτῇwayὁδῷHe saidεἶπενto themαὐτοῖς·
18BeholdἸδοὺwe go upἀναβαίνομενtoεἰςJerusalemἹεροσόλυμα,andκαὶtheὁSonυἱὸςτοῦof Manἀνθρώπουwill be betrayedπαραδοθήσεταιto theτοῖςchief priestsἀρχιερεῦσινandκαὶscribesγραμματεῦσιν,andκαὶthey will condemnκατακρινοῦσινHimαὐτὸνdeathθανάτῳ,
19andκαὶthey will betrayπαραδώσουσινHimαὐτὸνtheτοῖςGentilesἔθνεσινuntoεἰςτὸto mockἐμπαῖξαιandκαὶto flogμαστιγῶσαιandκαὶto crucifyσταυρῶσαι,andκαὶtheτῇthirdτρίτῃdayἡμέρᾳHe will rise againἐγερθήσεται.
20ThenΤότεcameπροσῆλθενto Himαὐτῷtheἡmotherμήτηρof theτῶνsonsυἱῶνof ZebedeeΖεβεδαίουwithμετὰtheτῶνsonsυἱῶνof herαὐτῆςkneeling downπροσκυνοῦσαandκαὶaskingαἰτοῦσάsomethingτιfromπαρ’Himαὐτοῦ.
21ὁAndδὲHe saidεἶπενto herαὐτῇ·WhatΤίdo you desireθέλεις;She saysλέγειto Himαὐτῷ·SayΕἰπὲthatἵναmight sitκαθίσωσινtheseοὗτοιοἱtwoδύοsonsυἱοίof mineμουoneεἷςonἐκ[the] right handδεξιῶνyourσουandκαὶoneεἷςonἐξ[the] left handεὐωνύμωνof Youσουinἐνtheτῇkingdomβασιλείᾳof Youσου.
22AnsweringἀποκριθεὶςnowδὲὁJesusἸησοῦςsaidεἶπεν·NotΟὐκyou knowοἴδατεwhatτίyou ask forαἰτεῖσθε·Are you ableδύνασθεto drinkπιεῖνtheτὸcupποτήριονwhichὃIἐγὼam aboutμέλλωto drinkπίνειν;They sayλέγουσινto Himαὐτῷ·We are ableΔυνάμεθα.
23He saysλέγειto themαὐτοῖς·ΤὸIndeedμὲνthe cupποτήριόνof MeμουYou will drinkπίεσθε,τὸbutδὲto sitκαθίσαιonἐκ[the] right handδεξιῶνof Meμουandκαὶonἐξ[the] leftεὐωνύμωνnotοὐκisἔστινMineἐμὸνto giveδοῦναι,but [to those]ἀλλ’for whomοἷςit has been preparedἡτοίμασταιbyὑπὸtheτοῦFatherπατρόςof Meμου.
24AndΚαὶhaving heard [this]ἀκούσαντεςtheοἱtenδέκαwere indignantἠγανάκτησανaboutπερὶtheτῶνtwoδύοbrothersἀδελφῶν.
25ὁAndδὲJesusἸησοῦςhaving called to [him]προσκαλεσάμενοςthemαὐτοὺςsaidεἶπεν·You knowΟἴδατεthatὅτιtheοἱrulersἄρχοντεςof theτῶνGentilesἐθνῶνexercise lordship overκατακυριεύουσινthemαὐτῶνandκαὶtheοἱgreat onesμεγάλοιexercise authority overκατεξουσιάζουσινthemαὐτῶν.
26Notοὐχthusοὕτωςbeἔσταιamongἐνyouὑμῖν·butἀλλ’whoeverὃς*ἂνwishesθέλῃamongἐνyouὑμῖνgreatμέγαςto becomeγενέσθαιhe will beἔσταιyourὑμῶνservantδιάκονος,
27andκαὶwhoeverὃςἂνwishesθέλῃamongἐνyouὑμῖνto beεἶναιfirstπρῶτοςhe will beἔσταιyourὑμῶνslaveδοῦλος·
28even asὥσπερtheὁSonυἱὸςτοῦof Manἀνθρώπουnotοὐκcameἦλθενto be servedδιακονηθῆναιbutἀλλὰto serveδιακονῆσαιandκαὶto giveδοῦναιtheτὴνlifeψυχὴνof Himαὐτοῦ[as] a ransomλύτρονforἀντὶmanyπολλῶν.
29AndΚαὶ[as] were going outἐκπορευομένωνtheyαὐτῶνfromἀπὸJerichoἸεριχὼfollowedἠκολούθησενHimαὐτῷa crowdὄχλοςgreatπολύς.
30Andκαὶbeholdἰδοὺtwoδύοblind [men]τυφλοὶsittingκαθήμενοιbesideπαρὰtheτὴνroadὁδόν,having heardἀκούσαντεςthatὅτιJesusἸησοῦςis passing byπαράγει,cried outἔκραξανsayingλέγοντες·LordΚύριε,Have mercy onἐλέησονusἡμᾶς,Sonυἱὸςof DavidΔαυίδ.
31ὁAndδὲthe crowdὄχλοςrebukedἐπετίμησενthemαὐτοῖςthatἵναthey should be silentσιωπήσωσιν·οἱButδὲall the moreμεῖζονthey cried outἔκραξανsayingλέγοντες·LordΚύριε,have mercy onἐλέησονusἡμᾶς,Sonυἱὸςof DavidΔαυίδ.
32Andκαὶhaving stoppedστὰςὁJesusἸησοῦςcalledἐφώνησενthemαὐτοὺςandκαὶsaidεἶπεν·WhatΤίdo you desireθέλετεI should doποιήσωunto youὑμῖν;
33They sayλέγουσινto Himαὐτῷ·LordΚύριε,thatἵναmight be openedἀνοιγῶσινtheοἱeyesὀφθαλμοὶof usἡμῶν.
34Having been moved with compassionσπλαγχνισθεὶςthenδὲὁJesusἸησοῦςtouchedἥψατοtheτῶνeyesὀμμάτωνof themαὐτῶν,andκαὶimmediatelyεὐθέωςthey received sightἀνέβλεψανandκαὶthey followedἠκολούθησανHimαὐτῷ.
