1AndΚαὶhaving approachedπροσελθόντεςtheοἱPhariseesΦαρισαῖοιandκαὶSadduceesΣαδδουκαῖοιtestingπειράζοντεςaskedἐπηρώτησανHimαὐτὸνa signσημεῖονout ofἐκτοῦheavenοὐρανοῦto showἐπιδεῖξαιthemαὐτοῖς.
2ὁAndδὲansweringἀποκριθεὶςHe saidεἶπενto themαὐτοῖς·EveningὈψίαςhaving comeγενομένηςyou sayλέγετε·Fair weatherΕὐδία,is redπυρράζειforγὰρtheὁskyοὐρανός·
3Andκαὶin the morningπρωΐ·TodayΣήμερονa stormχειμών,is redπυρράζειforγὰρbeing overcastστυγνάζωνtheὁskyοὐρανός.Theτὸindeedμὲνappearanceπρόσωπονof theτοῦskyοὐρανοῦyou know [how]γινώσκετεto discernδιακρίνειν,τὰbutδὲthe signsσημεῖαof theτῶνtimesκαιρῶνnotοὐyou are ableδύνασθε.
4A generationΓενεὰevilπονηρὰandκαὶadulterousμοιχαλὶςa signσημεῖονseeksἐπιζητεῖ,andκαὶa signσημεῖονnotοὐwill be givenδοθήσεταιto itαὐτῇifεἰnotμὴtheτὸsignσημεῖονof JonahἸωνᾶ.Andκαὶhaving leftκαταλιπὼνthemαὐτοὺςHe went awayἀπῆλθεν.
5AndΚαὶhaving comeἐλθόντεςtheοἱdisciplesμαθηταὶtoεἰςtheτὸother sideπέρανthey forgotἐπελάθοντοbreadἄρτουςto takeλαβεῖν.
6ὁAndδὲJesusἸησοῦςsaidεἶπενto themαὐτοῖς·WatchὉρᾶτεandκαὶbewareπροσέχετεofἀπὸtheτῆςleavenζύμηςof theτῶνPhariseesΦαρισαίωνandκαὶSadduceesΣαδδουκαίων.
7οἱAndδὲthey were reasoningδιελογίζοντοamongἐνthemselvesἑαυτοῖςsayingλέγοντεςBecauseὅτιbreadἌρτουςnotοὐκwe tookἐλάβομεν.
8Having known [this]γνοὺςhoweverδὲὁJesusἸησοῦςsaidεἶπεν·WhyΤίreason youδιαλογίζεσθεamongἐνyourselvesἑαυτοῖς,O [you] of little faithὀλιγόπιστοι,becauseὅτιbreadἄρτουςnotοὐκyou did takeἐλάβετε;
9Not yetοὔπωdo you understandνοεῖτε,norοὐδὲrememberμνημονεύετεtheτοὺςfiveπέντεloavesἄρτουςfor theτῶνfive thousandπεντακισχιλίωνandκαὶhow manyπόσουςhand-basketsκοφίνουςyou gatheredἐλάβετε;
10Norοὐδὲtheτοὺςsevenἑπτὰloavesἄρτουςfor theτῶνfour thousandτετρακισχιλίωνandκαὶhow manyπόσαςbasketsσπυρίδαςyou gatheredἐλάβετε;
11Howπῶςnotοὐunderstand youνοεῖτεthatὅτιnotοὐconcerningπερὶbreadἄρτωνI spokeεἶπονto youὑμῖν;to bewareπροσέχετεalsoδὲofἀπὸtheτῆςleavenζύμηςof theτῶνPhariseesΦαρισαίωνandκαὶSadduceesΣαδδουκαίων.
12Thenτότεthey understoodσυνῆκανthatὅτιnotοὐκHe saidεἶπενto bewareπροσέχεινofἀπὸtheτῆςleavenζύμηςofτῶνbreadἄρτωνbutἀλλὰofἀπὸtheτῆςteachingδιδαχῆςof theτῶνPhariseesΦαρισαίωνandκαὶSadduceesΣαδδουκαίων.
13Having comeἘλθὼνthenδὲὁJesusἸησοῦςintoεἰςtheτὰdistrictμέρηof CaesareaΚαισαρείαςτῆςPhilippiΦιλίππουHe was questioningἠρώταtheτοὺςdisciplesμαθητὰςof Himαὐτοῦsayingλέγων·WhomΤίναdo pronounceλέγουσινοἱmenἄνθρωποιto beεἶναιtheτὸνSonυἱὸνofτοῦmanἀνθρώπου;
14οἱAndδὲthey saidεἶπαν·SomeΟἱindeedμὲνJohnἸωάννηνtheτὸνBaptistβαπτιστήν,othersἄλλοιnowδὲElijahἨλίαν,othersἕτεροιnowδὲJeremiahἸερεμίανorἢoneἕναof theτῶνprophetsπροφητῶν.
15He saysλέγειto themαὐτοῖς·YouὙμεῖςbutδὲwhomτίναMeμεdo you pronounceλέγετεto beεἶναι;
16AnsweringἀποκριθεὶςnowδὲSimonΣίμωνPeterΠέτροςsaidεἶπεν·YouΣὺareεἶtheὁChristχριστὸςtheὁSonυἱὸςofτοῦGodθεοῦtheτοῦlivingζῶντος.
17AnsweringἀποκριθεὶςnowδὲὁJesusἸησοῦςsaidεἶπενto himαὐτῷ·BlessedΜακάριοςare youεἶ,SimonΣίμωνBarjonaΒαριωνᾶ,Forὅτιfleshσὰρξandκαὶbloodαἷμαnotοὐκrevealed [it]ἀπεκάλυψένto youσοιbutἀλλ’theὁFatherπατήρof Meμουwho [is]ὁinἐνtheτοῖςheavensοὐρανοῖς·
18I alsoκἀγὼnowδέto youσοιsayλέγωthatὅτιyouσὺareεἶPeterΠέτρος,andκαὶonἐπὶthisταύτῃtheτῇrockπέτρᾳI will buildοἰκοδομήσωMyμουτὴνchurchἐκκλησίαν,andκαὶ[the] gatesπύλαιof hadesᾅδουnotοὐwill prevail againstκατισχύσουσινitαὐτῆς·
19I will giveδώσωto youσοιtheτὰςkeysκλεῖδαςof theτῆςkingdomβασιλείαςof theτῶνheavensοὐρανῶν,andκαὶwhateverὃifἐὰνyou might bindδήσῃςonἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆςwill beἔσταιboundδεδεμένονinἐνtheτοῖςheavensοὐρανοῖς,andκαὶwhateverὃifἐὰνyou might looseλύσῃςonἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆςwill beἔσταιloosedλελυμένονinἐνtheτοῖςheavensοὐρανοῖς.
20Thenτότεcommandedδιεστείλατοtheτοῖςdisciplesμαθηταῖςthatἵναto no oneμηδενὶthey should sayεἴπωσινthatὅτιHeαὐτόςisἐστινtheὁChristχριστός.
21FromἈπὸthat timeτότεbeganἤρξατοὁJesusἸησοῦςto showδεικνύεινto theτοῖςdisciplesμαθηταῖςof Himαὐτοῦthatὅτιit is necessary forδεῖHimαὐτὸνtoεἰςJerusalemἹεροσόλυμαto go awayἀπελθεῖνandκαὶmany thingsπολλὰto sufferπαθεῖνfromἀπὸtheτῶνeldersπρεσβυτέρωνandκαὶchief priestsἀρχιερέωνandκαὶscribesγραμματέωνandκαὶto be killedἀποκτανθῆναιandκαὶon theτῇthirdτρίτῃdayἡμέρᾳto be raisedἐγερθῆναι.
22Andκαὶhaving taken asideπροσλαβόμενοςHimαὐτὸνὁPeterΠέτροςbeganἤρξατοto rebukeἐπιτιμᾶνHimαὐτῷsayingλέγων·Far be itἽλεώςfrom Youσοι,Lordκύριε·neverοὐnotμὴwill beἔσταιto Youσοιthisτοῦτο.
23ὁAndδὲhaving turnedστραφεὶςHe saidεἶπεντῷto PeterΠέτρῳ·GetὝπαγεbehindὀπίσωMeμου,SatanΣατανᾶ·A stumbling blockσκάνδαλονyou areεἶto Meἐμοῦ,Forὅτιnotοὐyour thoughts are ofφρονεῖςthe thingsτὰτοῦof Godθεοῦbutἀλλὰtheτὰthingsτῶνof menἀνθρώπων.
24ThenΤότεὁJesusἸησοῦςsaidεἶπενtoτοῖςdisciplesμαθηταῖςof Himαὐτοῦ·IfΕἴanyoneτιςdesiresθέλειafterὀπίσωMeμουto comeἐλθεῖν,let him denyἀπαρνησάσθωhimselfἑαυτὸνandκαὶtake upἀράτωtheτὸνcrossσταυρὸνof himαὐτοῦandκαὶfollowἀκολουθείτωMeμοι.
25Whoeverὃςforγὰρifἐὰνmight desireθέλῃtheτὴνlifeψυχὴνof himαὐτοῦto saveσῶσαιwill loseἀπολέσειitαὐτήν·whoeverὃςhoweverδ’ἂνmight loseἀπολέσῃtheτὴνlifeψυχὴνof himαὐτοῦon account ofἕνεκενMeἐμοῦwill findεὑρήσειitαὐτήν.
26Whatτίforγὰρwill it profitὠφεληθήσεταιa manἄνθρωποςifἐὰνtheτὸνworldκόσμονwholeὅλονhe gainsκερδήσῃτὴνbutδὲthe soulψυχὴνof himαὐτοῦlosesζημιωθῇ;Orἢwhatτίwill giveδώσειa manἄνθρωπος[as] an exchange forἀντάλλαγμαtheτῆςsoulψυχῆςof himαὐτοῦ;
27Is aboutμέλλειforγὰρtheὁSonυἱὸςof theτοῦmanἀνθρώπουto comeἔρχεσθαιinἐνtheτῇgloryδόξῃtheτοῦFatherπατρὸςof Himαὐτοῦwithμετὰtheτῶνangelsἀγγέλωνof Himαὐτοῦ,andκαὶthenτότεHe will giveἀποδώσειto eachἑκάστῳaccording toκατὰtheτὴνdeedsπρᾶξινof himαὐτοῦ.
28TrulyἀμὴνI sayλέγωto youὑμῖνὅτιthere areεἰσίνsomeτινεςof thoseτῶνhereὧδεstandingἑστώτωνwhoοἵτινεςnoοὐnotμὴshall tasteγεύσωνταιof deathθανάτουuntilἕωςἂνthey have seenἴδωσινtheτὸνSonυἱὸντοῦof Manἀνθρώπουcomingἐρχόμενονinἐνtheτῇkingdomβασιλείᾳof Himαὐτοῦ.
