Luke 24

1Theτῇhoweverδὲfirst [day]μιᾷof theτῶνweekσαββάτωνdawnὄρθρουvery earlyβαθέωςtoἐπὶtheτὸtombμνῆμαthey cameἦλθονbringingφέρουσαιthatἃthey had preparedἡτοίμασανspicesἀρώματα.

2They foundεὗρονthenδὲtheτὸνstoneλίθονhaving been rolled awayἀποκεκυλισμένονfromἀπὸtheτοῦtombμνημείου,

3Having enteredεἰσελθοῦσαιhoweverδὲnotοὐχthey foundεὗρονtheτὸbodyσῶμα.

4Andκαὶit came to passἐγένετοwhileἐντῷare perplexedἀπορεῖσθαιtheyαὐτὰςaboutπερὶthisτούτουthatκαὶbeholdἰδοὺmenἄνδρεςtwoδύοstood byἐπέστησανthemαὐταῖςinἐνgarmentsἐσθῆτιdazzlingἀστραπτούσῃ.

5Terrifiedἐμφόβωνthenδὲhaving becomeγενομένωνof themαὐτῶνandκαὶbowingκλινουσῶνtheτὰfacesπρόσωπαtoεἰςtheτὴνgroundγῆνthey saidεἶπανtoπρὸςthemαὐτάς·WhyΤίseek youζητεῖτεtheτὸνlivingζῶνταamongμετὰtheτῶνdeadνεκρῶν;

6NotοὐκHe isἔστινhereὧδε,butἀλλὰHe is risenἠγέρθη.RememberμνήσθητεhowὡςHe spokeἐλάλησενto youὑμῖνyetἔτιbeingὢνinἐντῇGalileeΓαλιλαίᾳ,

7sayingλέγωνTheτὸνSonυἱὸντοῦof Manἀνθρώπουὅτιit behoovesδεῖto be deliveredπαραδοθῆναιintoεἰςhandsχεῖραςof menἀνθρώπωνsinfulἁμαρτωλῶνandκαὶto be crucifiedσταυρωθῆναιandκαὶtheτῇthirdτρίτῃdayἡμέρᾳto ariseἀναστῆναι.

8Andκαὶthey rememberedἐμνήσθησανtheτῶνwordsῥημάτωνof Himαὐτοῦ,

9Andκαὶhaving returnedὑποστρέψασαιfromἀπὸtheτοῦtombμνημείουthey relatedἀπήγγειλανthese thingsταῦταallπάνταto theτοῖςelevenἕνδεκαandκαὶto allπᾶσινtheτοῖςrestλοιποῖς.

10It wasἦσανnowδὲἡMagdaleneΜαγδαληνὴMaryΜαρίαandκαὶJoannaἸωάνναandκαὶMaryΜαρίαthe [mother]ἡof JamesἸακώβουandκαὶtheαἱother womenλοιπαὶwithσὺνthemαὐταῖς·tellingἔλεγονtoπρὸςtheτοὺςapostlesἀποστόλουςthese thingsταῦτα.

11Andκαὶappearedἐφάνησανbeforeἐνώπιονthemαὐτῶνlikeὡσεὶfollyλῆροςtheτὰwordsῥήματαof themταῦτα,andκαὶthey did not believeἠπίστουνthemαὐταῖς.

12ὉButδὲPeterΠέτροςhaving risen upἀναστὰςranἔδραμενtoἐπὶtheτὸtombμνημεῖον·andκαὶhaving stooped downπαρακύψαςhe seesβλέπειtheτὰlinen stripsὀθόνιαonlyμόνα·andκαὶhe went awayἀπῆλθενinπρὸςhimselfαὑτὸνwondering atθαυμάζωνthatτὸhaving come to passγεγονός.

13AndΚαὶbeholdἰδοὺtwoδύοofἐξthemαὐτῶνonἐνsameαὐτῇtheτῇdayἡμέρᾳwereἦσανgoingπορευόμενοιtoεἰςa villageκώμηνbeing distantἀπέχουσανstadiaσταδίουςsixtyἑξήκονταfromἀπὸJerusalemἸερουσαλήμ,whoseᾗname [is]ὄνομαEmmausἘμμαοῦς,

14andκαὶtheyαὐτοὶwere talkingὡμίλουνwithπρὸςone anotherἀλλήλουςaboutπερὶallπάντωντῶνhaving taken placeσυμβεβηκότωνthese thingsτούτων.

15Andκαὶit came to passἐγένετοinἐνtheτῷtalkingὁμιλεῖνof themαὐτοὺςandκαὶreasoningσυζητεῖνthatκαὶHimselfαὐτὸςJesusἸησοῦςhaving drawn nearἐγγίσαςwas walking along withσυνεπορεύετοthemαὐτοῖς,

16οἱbutδὲthe eyesὀφθαλμοὶof themαὐτῶνwere heldἐκρατοῦντοτοῦnotμὴto knowἐπιγνῶναιHimαὐτόν.

17He saidεἶπενthenδὲtoπρὸςthemαὐτούς·WhatΤίνεςοἱwords [are]λόγοιtheseοὗτοιthatοὓςyou exchangeἀντιβάλλετεwithπρὸςone anotherἀλλήλουςwalkingπεριπατοῦντες;Andκαὶthey stood stillἐστάθησανlooking sadσκυθρωποί.

18Answeringἀποκριθεὶςnowδὲ[the] oneεἷςnamedὀνόματιCleopasΚλεοπᾶςsaidεἶπενtoπρὸςHimαὐτόν·YouΣὺaloneμόνοςvisitπαροικεῖςJerusalemἸερουσαλὴμandκαὶnotοὐκhave knownἔγνωςthe thingsτὰhaving come to passγενόμεναinἐνitαὐτῇinἐνtheταῖςdaysἡμέραιςtheseταύταις;

19AndκαὶHe saidεἶπενto themαὐτοῖς·What thingsΠοῖα;οἱAndδὲthey saidεἶπανto Himαὐτῷ·The thingsΤὰconcerningπερὶJesusἸησοῦofτοῦNazarethΝαζαρηνοῦ,whoὃςwasἐγένετοa manἀνὴρa prophetπροφήτηςmightyδυνατὸςinἐνdeedἔργῳandκαὶwordλόγῳbeforeἐναντίοντοῦGodθεοῦandκαὶallπαντὸςtheτοῦpeopleλαοῦ,

20thatὅπωςthenτεdelivered upπαρέδωκανhimαὐτὸνtheοἱchief priestsἀρχιερεῖςandκαὶtheοἱrulersἄρχοντεςof usἡμῶνtoεἰς[the] judgmentκρίμαof deathθανάτουandκαὶcrucifiedἐσταύρωσανHimαὐτόν.

21Weἡμεῖςhoweverδὲwere hopingἠλπίζομενὅτιHeαὐτόςit isἐστινwhoὁis aboutμέλλωνto redeemλυτροῦσθαιτὸνIsraelἸσραήλ·Butἀλλάindeedγεalsoκαὶwithσὺνallπᾶσινthese thingsτούτοις[the] thirdτρίτηνthisταύτηνdayἡμέρανbringsἄγειaway fromἀφ’whichοὗthese thingsταῦταcame to passἐγένετο.

22Howeverἀλλὰalsoκαὶwomenγυναῖκέςcertainτινεςout fromἐξusἡμῶνastonishedἐξέστησανusἡμᾶς,Having beenγενόμεναιearlyὀρθριναὶtoἐπὶtheτὸtombμνημεῖον

23andκαὶnotμὴhaving foundεὑροῦσαιtheτὸbodyσῶμαof Himαὐτοῦthey cameἦλθονdeclaringλέγουσαιalsoκαὶa visionὀπτασίανof angelsἀγγέλωνto have seenἑωρακέναι,whoοἳsayλέγουσινHeαὐτὸνis aliveζῆν.

24Andκαὶwentἀπῆλθόνsomeτινεςof thoseτῶνwithσὺνusἡμῖνtoἐπὶtheτὸtombμνημεῖον,andκαὶfound [it]εὗρονsoοὕτωςasκαθὼςalsoκαὶtheαἱwomenγυναῖκεςsaidεἶπον,Himαὐτὸνhoweverδὲnotοὐκthey sawεἶδον.

25AndκαὶHeαὐτὸςsaidεἶπενtoπρὸςthemαὐτούς·OὮfoolishἀνόητοιandκαὶslowβραδεῖςτῇof heartκαρδίᾳτοῦto believeπιστεύεινinἐπὶallπᾶσινthatοἷςhave spokenἐλάλησανtheοἱprophetsπροφῆται·

26Notοὐχὶthese thingsταῦταwas it necessary forἔδειto sufferπαθεῖνtheτὸνChristχριστὸνandκαὶto enterεἰσελθεῖνintoεἰςtheτὴνgloryδόξανof Himαὐτοῦ;

27Andκαὶhaving begunἀρξάμενοςfromἀπὸMosesΜωϋσέωςandκαὶfromἀπὸallπάντωνtheτῶνProphetsπροφητῶνHe interpretedδιερμήνευσενto themαὐτοῖςinἐνallπάσαιςtheταῖςScripturesγραφαῖςthe thingsτὰconcerningπερὶHimselfἑαυτοῦ.

28AndΚαὶthey drew nearἤγγισανtoεἰςtheτὴνvillageκώμηνwhereοὗthey were goingἐπορεύοντο,andκαὶHeαὐτὸςappearedπροσεποιήσατοfartherπορρώτερονto be goingπορεύεσθαι.

29Andκαὶthey constrainedπαρεβιάσαντοHimαὐτὸνsayingλέγοντες·AbideΜεῖνονwithμεθ’usἡμῶν,forὅτιtowardπρὸςeveningἑσπέρανit isἐστὶνandκαὶhas declinedκέκλικενnowἤδηtheἡdayἡμέρα.AndκαὶHe entered inεἰσῆλθεντοῦto abideμεῖναιwithσὺνthemαὐτοῖς.

30Andκαὶit came to passἐγένετοinἐνtheτῷrecliningκατακλιθῆναιof Himαὐτὸνwithμετ’themαὐτῶνhaving takenλαβὼνtheτὸνbreadἄρτονHe blessed [it]εὐλόγησενandκαὶhaving broken [it]κλάσαςHe began giving [it]ἐπεδίδουto themαὐτοῖς·

31Of themαὐτῶνthenδὲwere openedδιηνοίχθησανtheοἱeyesὀφθαλμοὶandκαὶthey knewἐπέγνωσανHimαὐτόν·AndκαὶHeαὐτὸςvanishedἄφαντοςbeing seenἐγένετοfromἀπ’themαὐτῶν.

32Andκαὶthey saidεἶπανtoπρὸςone anotherἀλλήλους·NotΟὐχὶtheἡheartκαρδίαof usἡμῶνburningκαιομένηwasἦνwithinἐνusἡμῖνasὡςHe was speakingἐλάλειwith usἡμῖνonἐνtheτῇroadὁδῷ,asὡςHe was openingδιήνοιγενto usἡμῖνtheτὰςScripturesγραφάς;

33Andκαὶhaving risen upἀναστάντες[that] sameαὐτῇτῇhourὥρᾳthey returnedὑπέστρεψανtoεἰςJerusalemἸερουσαλήμ,andκαὶthey foundεὗρονgathered togetherἠθροισμένουςtheτοὺςelevenἕνδεκαandκαὶthoseτοὺςwithσὺνthemαὐτοῖς,

34sayingλέγονταςὅτιIndeedὄντωςhas risenἠγέρθηtheὁLordκύριοςandκαὶHe has appearedὤφθηto SimonΣίμωνι.

35Andκαὶtheyαὐτοὶbegan relatingἐξηγοῦντοthe thingsτὰonἐνtheτῇroadὁδῷandκαὶhowὡςHe was knownἐγνώσθηto themαὐτοῖςinἐνtheτῇbreakingκλάσειof theτοῦbreadἄρτου.

36These thingsΤαῦταnowδὲof themαὐτῶνas they were tellingλαλούντωνHe Himselfαὐτὸςstoodἔστηinἐνmidstμέσῳof themαὐτῶν.

37Having been terrifiedπτοηθέντεςhoweverδὲandκαὶfilled with fearἔμφοβοιhaving beenγενόμενοιthey were thinking [themselves]ἐδόκουνa spiritπνεῦμαto seeθεωρεῖν.

38AndκαὶHe saidεἶπενto themαὐτοῖς·WhyΤίtroubledτεταραγμένοιare youἐστέ,andκαὶthroughδιὰwhyτίdoubtsδιαλογισμοὶdo come upἀναβαίνουσινinἐνtheτῇheartsκαρδίᾳof youὑμῶν;

39Seeἴδετεtheτὰςhandsχεῖράςof Meμουandκαὶtheτοὺςfeetπόδαςof MeμουthatὅτιIἐγώamεἰμιHeαὐτός·TouchψηλαφήσατέMeμεandκαὶseeἴδετε,forὅτιa spiritπνεῦμαfleshσάρκαandκαὶbonesὀστέαnotοὐκhasἔχειasκαθὼςMeἐμὲyou seeθεωρεῖτεhavingἔχοντα.

40Andκαὶthisτοῦτοhaving saidεἰπὼνHe showedἔδειξενto themαὐτοῖςtheτὰςhandsχεῖραςandκαὶtheτοὺςfeetπόδας.

41Stillἔτιnowδὲwhile they were disbelievingἀπιστούντωνof themαὐτῶνforἀπὸtheτῆςjoyχαρᾶςandκαὶamazementθαυμαζόντωνHe saidεἶπενto themαὐτοῖς·Have youἜχετέanythingτιto eatβρώσιμονhereἐνθάδε;

42οἱAndδὲthey gaveἐπέδωκανto Himαὐτῷof a fishἰχθύοςbroiledὀπτοῦpartμέρος·

43Andκαὶhaving taken [it]λαβὼνbeforeἐνώπιονthemαὐτῶνHe ate [it]ἔφαγεν.

44He saidΕἶπενnowδὲuntoπρὸςto themαὐτούς·These [are]Οὗτοιtheοἱwordsλόγοιof meμουwhichοὓςI spokeἐλάλησαtoπρὸςyouὑμᾶςstillἔτιbeingὢνwithσὺνyouὑμῖν,thatὅτιit behoovesδεῖto be fulfilledπληρωθῆναιall thingsπάντατὰhaving been writtenγεγραμμέναinἐνtheτῷlawνόμῳof MosesΜωϋσέωςandκαὶProphetsπροφήταιςandκαὶ[the] PsalmsψαλμοῖςconcerningπερὶMeἐμοῦ.

45ThenτότεHe openedδιήνοιξενtheirαὐτῶντὸνmindνοῦντοῦto understandσυνιέναιtheτὰςScripturesγραφάς,

46andκαὶsaidεἶπενthemαὐτοῖςὅτιThusοὕτωςit has been writtenγέγραπταιWas to sufferπαθεῖνtheτὸνChristχριστὸνandκαὶto riseἀναστῆναιout fromἐκ[the] deadνεκρῶνtheτῇthirdτρίτῃdayἡμέρᾳ,

47andκαὶto be proclaimedκηρυχθῆναιinἐπὶtheτῷnameὀνόματιof Himαὐτοῦrepentanceμετάνοιανandκαὶforgivenessἄφεσινof sinsἁμαρτιῶνtoεἰςallπάντατὰnationsἔθνη—having begunἀρξάμενοιfromἀπὸJerusalemἸερουσαλήμ·

48Youὑμεῖςare to beἐστεwitnessesμάρτυρεςof these thingsτούτων.

49AndκαὶbeholdἰδοὺIἐγὼam sendingἐξαποστέλλωtheτὴνpromiseἐπαγγελίανof theτοῦFatherπατρόςof Meμουuponἐφ’youὑμᾶς·youὑμεῖςhoweverδὲremainκαθίσατεinἐνtheτῇcityπόλειuntilἕωςthatοὗyou should be clothed withἐνδύσησθεfromἐξon highὕψουςpowerδύναμιν.

50He ledἘξήγαγενnowδὲthemαὐτοὺςas far asἕωςtoπρὸςBethanyΒηθανίαν,andκαὶhaving lifted upἐπάραςtheτὰςhandsχεῖραςof HimαὐτοῦHe blessedεὐλόγησενthemαὐτούς.

51Andκαὶit came to passἐγένετοinἐνtheτῷblessingεὐλογεῖνof HimαὐτὸνthemαὐτοὺςHe was separatedδιέστηfromἀπ’themαὐτῶνandκαὶwas carried upἀνεφέρετοintoεἰςτὸνheavenοὐρανόν.

52Andκαὶtheyαὐτοὶhaving worshipedπροσκυνήσαντεςHimαὐτὸνreturnedὑπέστρεψανtoεἰςJerusalemἸερουσαλὴμwithμετὰjoyχαρᾶςgreatμεγάλης,

53andκαὶwereἦσανcontinuallyδιὰallπαντὸςinἐνtheτῷtempleἱερῷblessingεὐλογοῦντεςτὸνGodθεόν.
