John 9:22

22These thingsταῦταsaidεἶπανtheοἱparentsγονεῖςof Himαὐτοῦbecauseὅτιthey were afraidἐφοβοῦντοof theτοὺςJewsἸουδαίους,alreadyἤδηforγὰρhad agreed togetherσυνετέθειντοtheοἱJewsἸουδαῖοιthatἵναifἐάνanyoneτιςHimαὐτὸνshould confessὁμολογήσῃChristχριστόν,expelled from the synagogueἀποσυνάγωγοςhe would beγένηται.

His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews already had agreed together that if anyone should confess Him [as] Christ, he would be expelled from the synagogue.
