Hebrews 12

1ThereforeΤοιγαροῦνalsoκαὶweἡμεῖς,such a greatτοσοῦτονhavingἔχοντεςencompassingπερικείμενονusἡμῖνa cloudνέφοςof witnessesμαρτύρων,weightὄγκονhaving laid asideἀποθέμενοιeveryπάνταandκαὶtheτὴνeasily entanglingεὐπερίστατονsinἁμαρτίαν,withδι’enduranceὑπομονῆςshould runτρέχωμενtheτὸνlying beforeπροκείμενονusἡμῖνraceἀγῶνα,

2lookingἀφορῶντεςtoεἰςtheτὸνof [our]τῆςfaithπίστεωςfounderἀρχηγὸνandκαὶperfecterτελειωτὴνJesusἸησοῦν,whoὃςin view ofἀντὶtheτῆςlying beforeπροκειμένηςHimαὐτῷjoyχαρᾶςenduredὑπέμεινεν[the] crossσταυρὸν[its] shameαἰσχύνηςhaving despisedκαταφρονήσας,atἐνright handδεξιᾷandτεof theτοῦthroneθρόνουτοῦof Godθεοῦsat downκεκάθικεν.

3Consider fullyἈναλογίσασθεforγὰρthe [One]τὸνsuch greatτοιαύτηνhaving enduredὑπομεμενηκόταfromὑπὸτῶνsinnersἁμαρτωλῶνagainstεἰςthemselvesἑαυτοὺςhostilityἀντιλογίαν,so thatἵναnotμὴyou shall grow wearyκάμητεin theταῖςsoulsψυχαῖςof youὑμῶνfaintingἐκλυόμενοι.

4Not yetοὔπωuntoμέχριςbloodαἵματοςhave you resistedἀντικατέστητεagainstπρὸςτὴνsinἁμαρτίανstrugglingἀνταγωνιζόμενοι,

5andκαὶyou have forgottenἐκλέλησθεtheτῆςexhortationπαρακλήσεως,thatἥτιςyouὑμῖνasὡςto sonsυἱοῖςaddressesδιαλέγεται,SonΥἱέof Meμου,notμὴregard lightlyὀλιγώρει[the] disciplineπαιδείαςof [the] Lordκυρίου,norμηδὲfaintἐκλύουbyὑπ’Himαὐτοῦbeing reprovedἐλεγχόμενος·

6WhomὃνforγὰρHe lovesἀγαπᾷ[the] Lordκύριοςdisciplinesπαιδεύει,He scourgesμαστιγοῖnowδὲeveryπάνταsonυἱὸνwhomὃνHe receivesπαραδέχεται.

7Asεἰςdisciplineπαιδείανendureὑπομένετε·asὡςsonsυἱοῖςyouὑμῖνis treatingπροσφέρεταιὁGodθεός·whatτίςforγὰρson [is there]υἱὸςwhomὃνnotοὐdisciplinesπαιδεύει[his] fatherπατήρ;

8Ifεἰhoweverδὲwithoutχωρίςyou areἐστεof disciplineπαιδείαςof whichἧςpartakersμέτοχοιthey have becomeγεγόνασιallπάντες,thenἄραillegitimate childrenνόθοιandκαὶnotοὐχsonsυἱοίyou areἐστε.

9Furthermoreεἶτατοὺςindeedμὲνof theτῆςfleshσαρκὸςof usἡμῶνfathersπατέραςwe have hadεἴχομενcorrectorsπαιδευτὰςandκαὶwe respected [them]ἐνετρεπόμεθα·notοὐmuchπολὺmoreμᾶλλονshall we be in subjectionὑποταγησόμεθαto theτῷFatherπατρὶτῶνof spiritsπνευμάτωνandκαὶshall liveζήσομεν;

10οἱTrulyμὲνindeedγὰρforπρὸςa fewὀλίγαςdaysἡμέραςaccording toκατὰthatτὸseeming goodδοκοῦνto themαὐτοῖςthey were disciplining [us]ἐπαίδευον,ὁbut [He]δὲforἐπὶ[our]τὸbenefittingσυμφέρονin orderεἰςτὸto shareμεταλαβεῖνof theτῆςholinessἁγιότητοςof Himαὐτοῦ.

11Allπᾶσαnowδὲdisciplineπαιδείαforπρὸςindeedμὲνthoseτὸbeing presentπαρὸνnotοὐseemsδοκεῖof joyχαρᾶςto beεἶναιbutἀλλὰof griefλύπης,afterwardὕστερονhoweverδὲ[the] fruitκαρπὸνpeaceableεἰρηνικὸνto thoseτοῖςbyδι’itαὐτῆςhaving been trainedγεγυμνασμένοιςit yieldsἀποδίδωσινof righteousnessδικαιοσύνης.

12ThereforeΔιὸtheτὰςdroopingπαρειμέναςhandsχεῖραςandκαὶtheτὰenfeebledπαραλελυμέναkneesγόναταlift upἀνορθώσατε,

13andκαὶpathsτροχιὰςstraightὀρθὰςmakeποιεῖτεfor theτοῖςfeetποσὶνof youὑμῶν,so thatἵναnotμὴtheτὸlameχωλὸνshould be put out of jointἐκτραπῇ,should be healedἰαθῇhoweverδὲratherμᾶλλον.

14PeaceΕἰρήνηνpursueδιώκετεwithμετὰallπάντων,andκαὶτὸνholinessἁγιασμόν,whichοὗwithoutχωρὶςno oneοὐδεὶςwill seeὄψεταιtheτὸνLordκύριον,

15observingἐπισκοποῦντεςlestμήanyτιςbe failingὑστερῶνofἀπὸtheτῆςgraceχάριτοςτοῦof Godθεοῦ,lestμήanyτιςrootῥίζαof bitternessπικρίαςupἄνωspringingφύουσαshould trouble [you]ἐνοχλῇandκαὶbyδι’itαὐτῆςmight be defiledμιανθῶσινmanyπολλοί,

16lest [there be]μήanyτιςfornicatorπόρνοςorἢprofane personβέβηλοςasὡςEsauἨσαῦ,whoὃςforἀντὶmealβρώσεωςoneμιᾶςsoldἀπέδετοtheτὰbirthrightπρωτοτόκιαof himselfἑαυτοῦ.

17You knowἴστεforγὰρthatὅτιevenκαὶafterwardμετέπειταwishingθέλωνto inheritκληρονομῆσαιtheτὴνblessingεὐλογίανhe was rejectedἀπεδοκιμάσθη,of repentanceμετανοίαςforγὰρplaceτόπονnotοὐχhe foundεὗρεν,althoughκαίπερwithμετὰtearsδακρύωνhaving earnestly soughtἐκζητήσαςitαὐτήν.

18NotΟὐforγὰρyou have come toπροσεληλύθατε[that] being touchedψηλαφωμένῳandκαὶhaving been kindledκεκαυμένῳwith fireπυρὶandκαὶto darknessγνόφῳandκαὶto gloomζόφῳandκαὶto stormθυέλλῃ

19andκαὶof a trumpetσάλπιγγοςto [the] soundἤχῳandκαὶto a voiceφωνῇof wordsῥημάτων,whichἧςthoseοἱhaving heardἀκούσαντεςexcused themselvesπαρῃτήσαντο[asking] notμὴto be addressedπροστεθῆναιto themαὐτοῖς[the] wordλόγον·

20notοὐκthey could bearἔφερονforγὰρthatτὸbeing commandedδιαστελλόμενον·If evenΚἂνa beastθηρίονshould touchθίγῃtheτοῦmountainὄρους,it shall be stonedλιθοβοληθήσεται·

21Andκαί,soοὕτωfearfulφοβερὸνwasἦνthe thingτὸappearing [that]φανταζόμενον,MosesΜωϋσῆςsaidεἶπεν·Greatly afraidἜκφοβόςI amεἰμιandκαὶtremblingἔντρομος.

22Butἀλλὰyou have come toπροσεληλύθατεZionΣιὼνMountὄρειandκαὶ[the] cityπόλειof Godθεοῦ[the] livingζῶντος,[the] JerusalemἸερουσαλὴμheavenlyἐπουρανίῳ,andκαὶto myriadsμυριάσινof angelsἀγγέλων,[to the] assemblyπανηγύρει

23andκαὶto [the] churchἐκκλησίᾳof [the] firstbornπρωτοτόκωνhaving been enrolledἀπογεγραμμένωνinἐν[the] heavensοὐρανοῖς,andκαὶto [the] judgeκριτῇGodθεῷof allπάντων,andκαὶto [the] spiritsπνεύμασιof [the] righteousδικαίωνhaving been perfectedτετελειωμένων,

24andκαὶof a covenantδιαθήκηςnewνέας[the] mediatorμεσίτῃto JesusἸησοῦ,andκαὶto [the] bloodαἵματιof sprinklingῥαντισμοῦbetter thingsκρεῖττονspeakingλαλοῦντιthanπαρὰthat ofτὸνAbelἍβελ.

25Take heedΒλέπετεlestμὴyou refuseπαραιτήσησθεthe [One]τὸνspeakingλαλοῦντα·Ifεἰforγὰρtheyἐκεῖνοιnotοὐκescapedἐξέφυγονonἐπὶearthγῆςhaving refusedπαραιτησάμενοιthe [One]τὸνdivinely instructing [them]χρηματίζοντα,muchπολὺlessμᾶλλονweἡμεῖςοἱthe [One]τὸνfromἀπ’[the] heavensοὐρανῶνturning away fromἀποστρεφόμενοι·

26whoseοὗἡvoiceφωνὴtheτὴνearthγῆνshookἐσάλευσενat that timeτότε,nowνῦνhoweverδὲHe has promisedἐπήγγελταιsayingλέγων·YetἜτιonce [more]ἅπαξIἐγὼwill shakeσείσωnotοὐonlyμόνονtheτὴνearthγῆνbutἀλλὰalsoκαὶτὸνheavenοὐρανόν.

27ThisτὸnowδὲYetἜτιonce [more]ἅπαξsignifiesδηλοῖof the [things]τῶνbeing shakenσαλευομένωνremovingμετάθεσινasὡςhaving been createdπεποιημένων,so thatἵναshould remainμείνῃthe thingsτὰnotμὴbeing shakenσαλευόμενα.

28Thereforeδιὸa kingdomβασιλείανnot to be shakenἀσάλευτονreceivingπαραλαμβάνοντεςwe may haveἔχωμενgraceχάριν,byδι’whichἧςwe may serveλατρεύωμενwell pleasinglyεὐαρέστωςτῷGodθεῷwithμετὰreverenceεὐλαβείαςandκαὶaweδέους,

29AlsoκαὶforγὰρtheὁGodθεὸςof usἡμῶν[is] a fireπῦρconsumingκαταναλίσκον.
