Acts 6
1InἘνnowδὲtheταῖςdaysἡμέραιςtheseταύταις[as] are multiplyingπληθυνόντωνtheτῶνdisciplesμαθητῶνthere aroseἐγένετοa grumblingγογγυσμὸςof theτῶνHellenistsἙλληνιστῶνagainstπρὸςtheτοὺςHebrewsἙβραίουςbecauseὅτιwere being overlookedπαρεθεωροῦντοinἐνtheτῇdistributionδιακονίᾳτῇdailyκαθημερινῇtheαἱwidowsχῆραιof themαὐτῶν.
2Having called nearπροσκαλεσάμενοιthenδὲtheοἱTwelveδώδεκαtheτὸmultitudeπλῆθοςof theτῶνdisciplesμαθητῶνthey saidεἶπαν·NotΟὐκdesirableἀρεστόνit is [for]ἐστινusἡμᾶςhaving neglectedκαταλείψανταςtheτὸνwordλόγοντοῦof Godθεοῦto attendδιακονεῖνtablesτραπέζαις·
3Selectἐπισκέψασθεthereforeδέ,brothersἀδελφοί,menἄνδραςout fromἐξyourselvesὑμῶνbeing well attestedμαρτυρουμένουςsevenἑπτὰfullπλήρειςof [the] Spiritπνεύματοςandκαὶwisdomσοφίας,whomοὓςwe will appointκαταστήσομενoverἐπὶtheτῆςtaskχρείαςthisταύτης·
4Weἡμεῖςnowδὲin theτῇprayerπροσευχῇandκαὶtheτῇministryδιακονίᾳof theτοῦwordλόγουwill steadfastly continueπροσκαρτερήσομεν.
5Andκαὶwas pleasingἤρεσενtheὁstatementλόγοςbeforeἐνώπιονallπαντὸςtheτοῦmultitudeπλήθους,andκαὶthey choseἐξελέξαντοStephenΣτέφανον,a manἄνδραfullπλήρηςof faithπίστεωςandκαὶ[of the] Spiritπνεύματοςholyἁγίου,andκαὶPhilipΦίλιππονandκαὶProchorusΠρόχορονandκαὶNicanorΝικάνοραandκαὶTimonΤίμωναandκαὶParmenasΠαρμενᾶνandκαὶNicolasΝικόλαονa convertπροσήλυτονof AntiochἈντιοχέα,
6whomοὓςthey setἔστησανbeforeἐνώπιονtheτῶνapostlesἀποστόλων,andκαὶhaving prayedπροσευξάμενοιthey laidἐπέθηκανon themαὐτοῖςtheτὰςhandsχεῖρας.
7AndΚαὶtheὁwordλόγοςτοῦof Godθεοῦcontinued to increaseηὔξανεν,andκαὶwas multipliedἐπληθύνετοtheὁnumberἀριθμὸςof theτῶνdisciplesμαθητῶνinἐνJerusalemἸερουσαλὴμexceedinglyσφόδρα,a greatπολύςthenτεmultitudeὄχλοςof theτῶνpriestsἱερέωνwere becoming obedientὑπήκουονto theτῇfaithπίστει.
8StephenΣτέφανοςnowδὲfullπλήρηςgraceχάριτοςandκαὶpowerδυνάμεωςwas performingἐποίειwondersτέραταandκαὶsignsσημεῖαgreatμεγάλαamongἐνtheτῷpeopleλαῷ.
9Aroseἀνέστησανhoweverδέcertainτινεςof thoseτῶνfromἐκtheτῆςsynagogueσυναγωγῆςτῆςcalledλεγομένηςFreedmenΛιβερτίνωνincludingκαὶCyreniansΚυρηναίωνandκαὶAlexandriansἈλεξανδρέωνandκαὶof thoseτῶνfromἀπὸCiliciaΚιλικίαςandκαὶAsiaἈσίαςdisputingσυζητοῦντεςwithτῷStephenΣτεφάνῳ,
10Andκαὶnotοὐκthey were ableἴσχυονto withstandἀντιστῆναιtheτῇwisdomσοφίᾳandκαὶtheτῷSpiritπνεύματιby whomᾧhe was speakingἐλάλει.
11Thenτότεthey subornedὑπέβαλονmenἄνδραςsayingλέγονταςὅτιWe have heardἈκηκόαμενhimαὐτοῦspeakingλαλοῦντοςwordsῥήματαblasphemousβλάσφημαagainstεἰςMosesΜωϋσῆνandκαὶτὸνGodθεόν·
12They stirred upσυνεκίνησάνthenτεtheτὸνpeopleλαὸνandκαὶtheτοὺςeldersπρεσβυτέρουςandκαὶtheτοὺςscribesγραμματεῖς,andκαὶhaving come upon [him]ἐπιστάντεςthey seizedσυνήρπασανhimαὐτὸνandκαὶbrought [him]ἤγαγονtoεἰςtheτὸCouncilσυνέδριον,
13They setἔστησάνalsoτεwitnessesμάρτυραςfalseψευδεῖςsayingλέγοντας·TheὉmanἄνθρωποςthisοὗτοςnotοὐdoes stopπαύεταιspeakingλαλῶνwordsῥήματαagainstκατὰtheτοῦplaceτόπουτοῦholyἁγίουandκαὶtheτοῦlawνόμου,
14we have heardἀκηκόαμενforγὰρhimαὐτοῦsayingλέγοντοςthatὅτιJesusἸησοῦςofὁNazarethΝαζωραῖοςthisοὗτοςwill destroyκαταλύσειtheτὸνplaceτόπονthisτοῦτονandκαὶwill changeἀλλάξειtheτὰcustomsἔθηthatἃdeliveredπαρέδωκενto usἡμῖνMosesΜωϋσῆς.
15Andκαὶhaving looked intentlyἀτενίσαντεςonεἰςhimαὐτὸνallπάντεςοἱsittingκαθεζόμενοιinἐνtheτῷCouncilσυνεδρίῳsawεἶδονtheτὸfaceπρόσωπονof himαὐτοῦasὡσεὶ[the] faceπρόσωπονof an angelἀγγέλου.
