1A manἈνὴρnowδέcertainτιςAnaniasἉνανίαςnamedὀνόματιwithσὺνSapphiraΣαπφίρῃtheτῇwifeγυναικὶof himαὐτοῦsoldἐπώλησενa propertyκτῆμα
2andκαὶhe kept backἐνοσφίσατοfromἀπὸtheτῆςproceedsτιμῆς,being aware of [it]συνειδυίηςalsoκαὶtheτῆςwifeγυναικός,andκαὶhaving broughtἐνέγκαςa portionμέροςcertainτιatπαρὰtheτοὺςfeetπόδαςof theτῶνapostlesἀποστόλωνhe laid [it]ἔθηκεν.
3SaidεἶπενhoweverδὲὁPeterΠέτρος·AnaniasἉνανία,because ofδιὰwhyτίhas filledἐπλήρωσενὁSatanΣατανᾶςtheτὴνheartκαρδίανof youσου,to lie toψεύσασθαί[for] youσεtheτὸSpiritπνεῦματὸHolyἅγιονandκαὶto keep backνοσφίσασθαιfromἀπὸtheτῆςproceedsτιμῆςof theτοῦlandχωρίου;
4Notοὐχὶremainingμένονto youσοὶdid it remainἔμενενAndκαὶhaving been soldπραθὲνinἐνtheτῇownσῇauthorityἐξουσίᾳit wasὑπῆρχεν;Whyτίὅτιdid you purposeἔθουinἐνtheτῇheartκαρδίᾳof youσουtheτὸdeedπρᾶγμαthisτοῦτο;Notοὐκyou have liedἐψεύσωto menἀνθρώποιςbutἀλλὰτῷto Godθεῷ.
5HearingἀκούωνnowδὲὁAnaniasἉνανίαςtheτοὺςwordsλόγουςtheseτούτουςhaving fallen downπεσὼνhe breathed his lastἐξέψυξεν·Andκαὶcameἐγένετοfearφόβοςgreatμέγαςuponἐπὶallπάνταςthoseτοὺςhearingἀκούοντας.
6Having arisenἀναστάντεςthenδὲtheοἱyounger [men]νεώτεροιcoveredσυνέστειλανhimαὐτὸνandκαὶhaving carried [him] outἐξενέγκαντεςburied [him]ἔθαψαν.
7It came to passἘγένετοnowδὲaboutὡςhoursὡρῶνthreeτριῶνafterwardδιάστημαalsoκαὶtheἡwifeγυνὴof himαὐτοῦnotμὴknowingεἰδυῖαthatτὸhaving come to passγεγονὸςcame inεἰσῆλθεν.
8RepliedἀπεκρίθηthenδὲtoπρὸςherαὐτὴνPeterΠέτρος·TellΕἰπέmeμοι,ifεἰfor so muchτοσούτουtheτὸlandχωρίονyou soldἀπέδοσθε;ἡAndδὲshe saidεἶπεν·YesΝαί,for so muchτοσούτου.
9ὁButδὲPeter [said]Πέτροςtoπρὸςherαὐτήν·Why [is it]Τίthatὅτιhave agreed togetherσυνεφωνήθηyouὑμῖνto testπειράσαιtheτὸSpiritπνεῦμαof [the] Lordκυρίου;Beholdἰδοὺtheοἱfeetπόδεςof thoseτῶνhaving buriedθαψάντωνtheτὸνhusbandἄνδραof youσου[are] atἐπὶtheτῇdoorθύρᾳandκαὶthey will carry outἐξοίσουσίνyouσε.
10She fell downἔπεσενthenδὲimmediatelyπαραχρῆμαatπρὸςtheτοὺςfeetπόδαςof himαὐτοῦandκαὶbreathed her lastἐξέψυξεν·Having come inεἰσελθόντεςthenδὲtheοἱyoung [men]νεανίσκοιfoundεὗρονherαὐτὴνdeadνεκράν,andκαὶhaving carried outἐξενέγκαντεςthey buried [her]ἔθαψανbyπρὸςtheτὸνhusbandἄνδραof herαὐτῆς.
11Andκαὶcameἐγένετοfearφόβοςgreatμέγαςuponἐφ’allὅληνtheτὴνchurchἐκκλησίανandκαὶuponἐπὶallπάνταςthoseτοὺςhearingἀκούονταςthese thingsταῦτα.
12ByΔιὰnowδὲtheτῶνhandsχειρῶνof theτῶνapostlesἀποστόλωνwere happeningἐγίνετοsignsσημεῖαandκαὶwondersτέραταmanyπολλὰamongἐνtheτῷpeopleλαῷ·Andκαὶthey wereἦσανwith one accordὁμοθυμαδὸνallἅπαντεςinἐνtheτῇColonnadeΣτοᾷof SolomonΣολομῶντος·
13of theτῶνnowδὲrestλοιπῶνno oneοὐδεὶςdaredἐτόλμαto joinκολλᾶσθαιthemαὐτοῖς,butἀλλ’were magnifyingἐμεγάλυνενthemαὐτοὺςtheὁpeopleλαός,
14moreμᾶλλονnowδὲwere addedπροσετίθεντοbelievingπιστεύοντεςin theτῷLordκυρίῳmultitudesπλήθηof menἀνδρῶνbothτεandκαὶwomenγυναικῶν·
15so asὥστεevenκαὶintoεἰςtheτὰςstreetsπλατείαςto bring outἐκφέρεινtheτοὺςsickἀσθενεῖςandκαὶto put [them]τιθέναιonἐπὶcotsκλιναρίωνandκαὶmatsκραβάττων,thatἵναcomingἐρχομένουof PeterΠέτρουat leastκἂνtheἡshadowσκιὰmight envelopἐπισκιάσῃsomeτινὶof themαὐτῶν.
16Were coming togetherσυνήρχετοnowδὲalsoκαὶtheτὸmultitudeπλῆθοςfrom theτῶνsurroundingπέριξcitiesπόλεωνJerusalemἸερουσαλήμ,bringingφέροντες[the] sickἀσθενεῖςandκαὶ[those] being tormentedὀχλουμένουςbyὑπὸspiritsπνευμάτωνuncleanἀκαθάρτων,whoοἵτινεςwere healedἐθεραπεύοντοallἅπαντες.
17Having risen upἈναστὰςhoweverδὲtheὁhigh priestἀρχιερεὺςandκαὶallπάντεςthoseοἱwithσὺνhimαὐτῷ,ἡbeingοὖσαthe sectαἵρεσιςof theτῶνSadduceesΣαδδουκαίων,were filledἐπλήσθησανwith jealousyζήλου
18andκαὶthey laidἐπέβαλονtheτὰςhandsχεῖραςonἐπὶtheτοὺςapostlesἀποστόλουςandκαὶputἔθεντοthemαὐτοὺςinἐν[the] jailτηρήσειpublicδημοσίᾳ.
19An angelἄγγελοςhoweverδὲof [the] Lordκυρίουduringδιὰthe nightνυκτὸςhaving openedἤνοιξεtheτὰςdoorsθύραςof theτῆςprisonφυλακῆςhaving brought outἐξαγαγώνthenτεthemαὐτοὺςsaidεἶπεν·
20GoΠορεύεσθεandκαὶhaving stoodσταθέντεςspeakλαλεῖτεinἐνtheτῷtempleἱερῷto theτῷpeopleλαῷallπάνταtheτὰwordsῥήματαof theτῆςlifeζωῆςthisταύτης.
21Having heardἀκούσαντεςnowδὲthey enteredεἰσῆλθονatὑπὸtheτὸνdawnὄρθρονintoεἰςtheτὸtempleἱερὸνandκαὶwere teachingἐδίδασκον.Having comeΠαραγενόμενοςnowδὲtheὁhigh priestἀρχιερεὺςandκαὶthoseοἱwithσὺνhimαὐτῷthey called togetherσυνεκάλεσανtheτὸCouncilσυνέδριονevenκαὶallπᾶσανtheτὴνSenateγερουσίανof theτῶνsonsυἱῶνof IsraelἸσραήλ,andκαὶsentἀπέστειλανtoεἰςtheτὸprison houseδεσμωτήριονto bringἀχθῆναιthemαὐτούς.
22οἱAndδὲhaving comeπαραγενόμενοι[the] officersὑπηρέταιnotοὐχdid findεὗρονthemαὐτοὺςinἐνtheτῇprisonφυλακῇ,having returnedἀναστρέψαντεςthenδὲthey reported backἀπήγγειλαν
23sayingλέγοντεςὅτιTheΤὸprison houseδεσμωτήριονwe foundεὕρομενshutκεκλεισμένονwithἐνallπάσῃsecurityἀσφαλείᾳandκαὶtheτοὺςguardsφύλακαςstandingἑστῶταςbeforeἐπὶtheτῶνdoorsθυρῶν,having opened [them]ἀνοίξαντεςhoweverδὲinsideἔσωno oneοὐδέναwe foundεὕρομεν.
24Whenὡςnowδὲthey heardἤκουσανtheτοὺςwordsλόγουςtheseτούτουςὅbothτεthe captainστρατηγὸςof theτοῦtempleἱεροῦandκαὶtheοἱchief priestsἀρχιερεῖς,were perplexedδιηπόρουνconcerningπερὶthemαὐτῶνwhatτίἂνmight beγένοιτοthisτοῦτο.
25Having comeπαραγενόμενοςthenδέa certain oneτιςreportedἀπήγγειλενto themαὐτοῖςὅτιBeholdἸδοὺtheοἱmenἄνδρεςwhomοὓςyou putἔθεσθεinἐνtheτῇprisonφυλακῇareεἰσὶνinἐνtheτῷtempleἱερῷstandingἑστῶτεςandκαὶteachingδιδάσκοντεςtheτὸνpeopleλαόν.
26Thenτότεhaving goneἀπελθὼνtheὁcaptainστρατηγὸςwithσὺνtheτοῖςofficersὑπηρέταιςledἤγαγενthemαὐτούς,notοὐwithμετὰforceβίας,they were afraid ofἐφοβοῦντοforγὰρtheτὸνpeopleλαόν,lestμὴthey might be stonedλιθασθῶσιν.
27Having broughtἈγαγόντεςthenδὲthemαὐτοὺςthey set [them]ἔστησανinἐνtheτῷCouncilσυνεδρίῳ.Andκαὶaskedἐπηρώτησενthemαὐτοὺςtheὁhigh priestἀρχιερεὺς
28sayingλέγων·by a chargeΠαραγγελίᾳwe commandedπαρηγγείλαμενyouὑμῖνnotμὴto teachδιδάσκεινinἐπὶtheτῷnameὀνόματιthisτούτῳ,Andκαὶbeholdἰδοὺyou have filledπεπληρώκατετὴνJerusalemἸερουσαλὴμwith theτῆςteachingδιδαχῆςof youὑμῶν,andκαὶyou intendβούλεσθεto bringἐπαγαγεῖνuponἐφ’usἡμᾶςtheτὸbloodαἷμαof theτοῦmanἀνθρώπουthisτούτου.
29AnsweringἀποκριθεὶςhoweverδὲPeterΠέτροςandκαὶtheοἱapostlesἀπόστολοιsaidεἶπαν·To obeyΠειθαρχεῖνit is necessaryδεῖGodθεῷratherμᾶλλονthanἢmenἀνθρώποις.
30TheὁGodθεὸςof theτῶνfathersπατέρωνof usἡμῶνraised upἤγειρενJesusἸησοῦν,whomὃνyouὑμεῖςkilledδιεχειρίσασθεhaving hanged [Him]κρεμάσαντεςonἐπὶa treeξύλου·
31HimτοῦτονὁGodθεὸς[as] PrinceἀρχηγὸνandκαὶSaviorσωτῆραexaltedὕψωσενby theτῇright handδεξιᾷof Himαὐτοῦ,τοῦto giveδοῦναιrepentanceμετάνοιαντῷto IsraelἸσραὴλandκαὶforgivenessἄφεσινof sinsἁμαρτιῶν·
32Andκαὶweἡμεῖςareἐσμενwitnessesμάρτυρεςof theτῶνthingsῥημάτωνtheseτούτων,and alsoκαὶtheτὸSpiritπνεῦματὸHolyἅγιονwhomὃhas givenἔδωκενὁGodθεὸςto thoseτοῖςobeyingπειθαρχοῦσινHimαὐτῷ.
33ΟἱAndδὲhaving heardἀκούσαντεςthey were cut [to the heart]διεπρίοντοandκαὶwere desiringἐβούλοντοto put to deathἀνελεῖνthemαὐτούς.
34Having risen upἀναστὰςhoweverδέa certain [man]τιςinἐνtheτῷCouncilσυνεδρίῳa PhariseeΦαρισαῖοςnamedὀνόματιGamalielΓαμαλιήλ,a teacher of the lawνομοδιδάσκαλοςhonoredτίμιοςby allπαντὶtheτῷpeopleλαῷ,he commanded [them]ἐκέλευσενoutsideἔξωfor a short whileβραχὺtheτοὺςmenἀνθρώπουςto putποιῆσαι,
35He saidεἶπένthenτεtoπρὸςthemαὐτούς·MenἌνδρεςIsraelitesἸσραηλῖται,take heedπροσέχετεto yourselvesἑαυτοῖςwithἐπὶtheτοῖςmenἀνθρώποιςtheseτούτοιςwhatτίyou are aboutμέλλετεto doπράσσειν.
36Beforeπρὸforγὰρtheseτούτωντῶνdaysἡμερῶνrose upἀνέστηTheudasΘευδᾶς,affirmingλέγωνto beεἶναίsomebodyτιναhimselfἑαυτόν,to whomᾧwere joinedπροσεκλίθηof menἀνδρῶνnumberἀριθμὸςaboutὡςfour hundredτετρακοσίων·whoὃςwas put to deathἀνῃρέθη,andκαὶallπάντεςas many asὅσοιwere persuadedἐπείθοντοby himαὐτῷwere dispersedδιελύθησανandκαὶit cameἐγένοντοtoεἰςnothingοὐδέν.
37Afterμετὰthis manτοῦτονrose upἀνέστηJudasἸούδαςtheὁGalileanΓαλιλαῖοςinἐνtheταῖςdaysἡμέραιςof theτῆςregistrationἀπογραφῆςandκαὶdrew awayἀπέστησεpeopleλαὸνafterὀπίσωhimαὐτοῦ·And heκἀκεῖνοςperishedἀπώλετοandκαὶallπάντεςas many asὅσοιwere persuadedἐπείθοντοby himαὐτῷwere scatteredδιεσκορπίσθησαν.
38AndκαὶτὰnowνῦνI sayλέγωto youὑμῖν,withdrawἀπόστητεfromἀπὸtheτῶνmenἀνθρώπωνtheseτούτωνandκαὶlet aloneἄφετεthemαὐτούς·forὅτιifἐὰνbeᾖfromἐξmenἀνθρώπωνtheἡplanβουλὴthisαὕτηorἢtheτὸworkἔργονthisτοῦτο,it will be overthrownκαταλυθήσεται,
39ifεἰhoweverδὲfromἐκGodθεοῦit isἐστιν,notοὐyou will be ableδυνήσεσθεto overthrowκαταλῦσαιthemαὐτούς·lestμήποτεalsoκαὶfighting against GodθεομάχοιYou would be foundεὑρεθῆτε.They were persuadedἐπείσθησανnowδὲby himαὐτῷ,
40andκαὶhaving called inπροσκαλεσάμενοιtheτοὺςapostlesἀποστόλουςhaving beatenδείραντεςthey commanded [them]παρήγγειλανnotμὴto speakλαλεῖνinἐπὶtheτῷnameὀνόματιτοῦof JesusἸησοῦandκαὶreleased [them]ἀπέλυσαν.
41Theyοἱindeedμὲνthereforeοὖνdepartedἐπορεύοντοrejoicingχαίροντεςfromἀπὸ[the] presenceπροσώπουof theτοῦCouncilσυνεδρίουthatὅτιthey had been counted worthyκατηξιώθησανforὑπὲρtheτοῦNameὀνόματοςto suffer dishonorἀτιμασθῆναι·
42Everyπᾶσάνthenτεdayἡμέρανinἐνtheτῷtempleἱερῷandκαὶinκατ’houseοἶκονnotοὐκthey ceasedἐπαύοντοteachingδιδάσκοντεςandκαὶproclaiming the good news thatεὐαγγελιζόμενοιtheτὸνChristχριστὸν[is] JesusἸησοῦν.
