Acts 26

1AgrippaἈγρίππαςthenδὲtoπρὸςτὸνPaulΠαῦλονwas sayingἔφη·It is permittedἘπιτρέπεταίyouσοιforὑπὲρyourselfσεαυτοῦto speakλέγειν.ThenτότεὁPaulΠαῦλοςhaving stretched outἐκτείναςtheτὴνhandχεῖραbegan his defenseἀπελογεῖτο·

2ConcerningΠερὶallπάντωνof whichὧνI am accusedἐγκαλοῦμαιbyὑπὸ[the] JewsἸουδαίων,KingβασιλεῦAgrippaἈγρίππα,I esteemἥγημαιmyselfἐμαυτὸνfortunateμακάριονbeforeἐπὶyouσοῦbeing aboutμέλλωνtodayσήμερονto defend myselfἀπολογεῖσθαι,

3Especiallyμάλισταacquaintedγνώστηνbeingὄνταyouσεwith allπάντωνtheτῶνofκατὰ[the] JewsἸουδαίουςcustomsἐθῶνandτεalsoκαὶcontroversiesζητημάτων·thereforeδιὸI implore [you]δέομαιpatientlyμακροθύμωςto hearἀκοῦσαίmeμου.

4TheΤὴνindeedμὲνthenοὖνmanner of lifeβίωσίνof meμουtheτὴνfromἐκyouthνεότητοςτὴνfrom [its]ἀπ’beginningἀρχῆςhaving beenγενομένηνamongἐνtheτῷnationἔθνειof meμουinἔνalsoτεJerusalemἹεροσολύμοιςknowἴσασιallπάντεςJewsἸουδαῖοι,

5knowingπρογινώσκοντέςmeμεfrom the firstἄνωθεν,ifἐὰνthey would be willingθέλωσιto testifyμαρτυρεῖν,thatὅτιaccording toκατὰtheτὴνstrictestἀκριβεστάτηνsectαἵρεσιντῆςof ourἡμετέραςreligionθρησκείαςI lived [as]ἔζησαa PhariseeΦαρισαῖος.

6Andκαὶnowνῦνfor [the]ἐπ’hopeἐλπίδιof theτῆςtoεἰςtheτοὺςfathersπατέραςof usἡμῶνpromiseἐπαγγελίαςhaving been madeγενομένηςbyὑπὸτοῦGodθεοῦI standἕστηκαbeing judgedκρινόμενος,

7toεἰςwhichἣνtheτὸtwelve tribesδωδεκάφυλονof usἡμῶνinἐνearnestnessἐκτενείᾳnightνύκταandκαὶdayἡμέρανservingλατρεῦονhopeἐλπίζειto attainκαταντῆσαι·concerningπερὶwhichἧςhopeἐλπίδοςI am accusedἐγκαλοῦμαιbyὑπὸthe JewsἸουδαίων,O kingβασιλεῦ·

8Whyτίincredibleἄπιστονis it judgedκρίνεταιbyπαρ’youὑμῖνifεἰὁGodθεὸς[the] deadνεκροὺςraisesἐγείρει;

9IἘγὼindeedμὲνthereforeοὖνthoughtἔδοξαin myselfἐμαυτῷtoπρὸςtheτὸnameὄνομαof JesusἸησοῦτοῦof NazarethΝαζωραίουI oughtδεῖνmany thingsπολλὰcontraryἐναντίαto doπρᾶξαι·

10whichὃalsoκαὶI didἐποίησαinἐνJerusalemἹεροσολύμοις,andκαὶmanyπολλούςalsoτεof theτῶνsaintsἁγίωνIἐγὼinἐνprisonsφυλακαῖςlocked upκατέκλεισαtheτὴνfromπαρὰtheτῶνchief priestsἀρχιερέωνauthorityἐξουσίανhaving receivedλαβών,being put to deathἀναιρουμένωνthenτεtheyαὐτῶνI cast against [them]κατήνεγκαa voteψῆφον,

11AndκαὶinκατὰallπάσαςtheτὰςsynagoguesσυναγωγὰςoftenπολλάκιςpunishingτιμωρῶνthemαὐτοὺςI was compelling [them]ἠνάγκαζονto blasphemeβλασφημεῖν,Exceedinglyπερισσῶςthenτεbeing furiousἐμμαινόμενοςagainst themαὐτοῖςI kept persecuting [them]ἐδίωκονas far asἕωςevenκαὶtoεἰςτὰςforeignἔξωcitiesπόλεις.

12duringἘνwhichοἷςjourneyingπορευόμενοςtoεἰςτὴνDamascusΔαμασκὸνwithμετ’[the] authorityἐξουσίαςandκαὶcommissionἐπιτροπῆςofτῆςtheτῶνchief priestsἀρχιερέων

13dayἡμέραςmidμέσηςonκατὰtheτὴνroadὁδὸνI sawεἶδον,O kingβασιλεῦ,from heavenοὐρανόθενaboveὑπὲρtheτὴνbrightnessλαμπρότηταof theτοῦsunἡλίουhaving shone aroundπεριλάμψανmeμεa lightφῶςandκαὶthoseτοὺςwithσὺνmeἐμοὶjourneyingπορευομένους·

14Allπάντωνandτεhaving fallen downκαταπεσόντωνof usἡμῶνtoεἰςtheτὴνgroundγῆνI heardἤκουσαa voiceφωνὴνsayingλέγουσανtoπρόςmeμεin theτῇHebrewἙβραΐδιlanguageδιαλέκτῳ·SaulΣαοὺλSaulΣαούλ,whyτίMeμεpersecute youδιώκεις;[It is] hardσκληρόνfor youσοιagainstπρὸς[the] goadsκέντραto kickλακτίζειν.

15Iἐγὼthenδὲsaidεἶπα·WhoΤίςare Youεἶ,Lordκύριε;ὁAndδὲthe Lordκύριοςsaidεἶπεν·IἘγώamεἰμιJesusἸησοῦςwhomὃνyouσὺare persecutingδιώκεις·

16Butἀλλὰrise upἀνάστηθιandκαὶstandστῆθιonἐπὶtheτοὺςfeetπόδαςof youσου·for thisεἰςpurposeτοῦτοforγὰρI have appearedὤφθηνto youσοι,to appointπροχειρίσασθαίyouσεa servantὑπηρέτηνandκαὶa witnessμάρτυραof that whichὧνbothτεyou have seenεἶδέςof Meμεof the things in whichὧνthenτεI will appearὀφθήσομαίto youσοι,

17deliveringἐξαιρούμενόςyouσεout fromἐκtheτοῦpeopleλαοῦandκαὶfromἐκtheτῶνGentilesἐθνῶν,toεἰςwhomοὓςIἐγὼam sendingἀποστέλλωyouσε

18to openἀνοῖξαιeyesὀφθαλμοὺςof themαὐτῶν,thatτοῦthey may turnἐπιστρέψαιfromἀπὸdarknessσκότουςtoεἰςlightφῶςandκαὶfrom theτῆςpowerἐξουσίαςτοῦof SatanΣατανᾶtoἐπὶτὸνGodθεόν,[that]τοῦmay receiveλαβεῖνtheyαὐτοὺςforgivenessἄφεσινof sinsἁμαρτιῶνandκαὶ[an] inheritanceκλῆρονamongἐνthoseτοῖςhaving been sanctifiedἡγιασμένοιςby faithπίστειthat [is]τῇinεἰςMeἐμέ.

19So thenὍθεν,O kingβασιλεῦAgrippaἈγρίππα,notοὐκI wasἐγενόμηνdisobedientἀπειθὴςto theτῇheavenlyοὐρανίῳvisionὀπτασίᾳ,

20butἀλλὰto thoseτοῖςinἐνDamascusΔαμασκῷfirstπρῶτόνbothτεandκαὶJerusalemἹεροσολύμοις,allπᾶσάνandτεtheτὴνregionχώραντῆςof JudeaἸουδαίας,andκαὶto theτοῖςGentilesἔθνεσινI kept declaringἀπήγγελλονto repentμετανοεῖνandκαὶto turnἐπιστρέφεινtoἐπὶτὸνGodθεόν,worthyἄξιατῆςof repentanceμετανοίαςworksἔργαdoingπράσσοντας.

21On account ofἕνεκαthese thingsτούτωνmeμεthe JewsἸουδαῖοιhaving seizedσυλλαβόμενοιinἐνtheτῷtempleἱερῷthey were attemptingἐπειρῶντοto killδιαχειρίσασθαι.

22Helpἐπικουρίαςthereforeοὖνhaving obtainedτυχὼντῆςfromἀπὸτοῦGodθεοῦuntoἄχριtheτῆςdayἡμέραςthisταύτηςI have stoodἕστηκαbearing witnessμαρτυρόμενοςto smallμικρῷbothτεandκαὶto greatμεγάλῳ,nothingοὐδὲνotherἐκτὸςsayingλέγωνthan whatὧνbothτεtheοἱprophetsπροφῆταιsaidἐλάλησανwas aboutμελλόντωνto happenγίνεσθαιandκαὶMosesΜωϋσῆς,

23thatεἰwould sufferπαθητὸςtheὁChristχριστός,asεἰfirstπρῶτοςthroughἐξresurrectionἀναστάσεωςfrom [the] deadνεκρῶνlightφῶςHe is aboutμέλλειto preachκαταγγέλλεινtoτῷbothτεour peopleλαῷandκαὶto theτοῖςGentilesἔθνεσιν.

24These thingsΤαῦταnowδὲof himαὐτοῦsaying in his defenseἀπολογουμένουὁFestusΦῆστοςin a loudμεγάλῃτῇvoiceφωνῇsaidφησιν·You are insaneΜαίνῃ,PaulΠαῦλε·Theτὰgreatπολλάof youσεlearningγράμματαtoεἰςinsanityμανίανturns [you]περιτρέπει.

25ὁButδὲPaulΠαῦλος·NotΟὐI am insaneμαίνομαι,saysφησίν,most excellentκράτιστεFestusΦῆστε,butἀλλὰof truthἀληθείαςandκαὶsobrietyσωφροσύνηςwordsῥήματαI utterἀποφθέγγομαι.

26Understandsἐπίσταταιforγὰρconcerningπερὶthese thingsτούτωνtheὁkingβασιλεύς,toπρὸςwhomὃνalsoκαὶusing boldnessπαρρησιαζόμενοςI speakλαλῶ·Are hidden fromλανθάνεινforγὰρhimαὐτὸνof these thingsτούτωνnotοὐI am persuadedπείθομαιnoneοὐθέν,notοὐforγάρisἐστινinἐνa cornerγωνίᾳdoneπεπραγμένονof these thingsτοῦτο.

27Believe youπιστεύεις,KingβασιλεῦAgrippaἈγρίππα,theτοῖςprophetsπροφήταις;I knowοἶδαthatὅτιyou believeπιστεύεις.

28ὁThenδὲAgrippaἈγρίππας[said] toπρὸςτὸνPaulΠαῦλον·WithinἘνso littleὀλίγῳmeμεdo you persuadeπείθειςa ChristianΧριστιανὸνto becomeποιῆσαι.

29ὁAndδὲPaul [said]Παῦλος·I would wishΕὐξαίμηνἂντῷto Godθεῷbothκαὶinἐνa littleὀλίγῳandκαὶinἐνmuchμεγάλῳnotοὐonlyμόνονyouσὲbutἀλλὰalsoκαὶallπάνταςthoseτοὺςhearingἀκούοντάςmeμουthis dayσήμερονto becomeγενέσθαιsuchτοιούτουςasὁποῖοςalsoκαὶIἐγώamεἰμιexceptπαρεκτὸςtheτῶνchainsδεσμῶνtheseτούτων.

30Rose upἈνέστηthenτεtheὁkingβασιλεὺςandκαὶtheὁgovernorἡγεμὼνἥandτεBerniceΒερνίκηandκαὶthoseοἱsitting withσυγκαθήμενοιthemαὐτοῖς,

31andκαὶhaving withdrawnἀναχωρήσαντεςthey began speakingἐλάλουνtoπρὸςone anotherἀλλήλουςsayingλέγοντεςὅτιNothingΟὐδὲνof deathθανάτουorἢof chainsδεσμῶνworthyἄξιονanythingτιis doingπράσσειtheὁmanἄνθρωποςthisοὗτος.

32AgrippaἈγρίππαςthenδὲtoτῷFestusΦήστῳwas sayingἔφη·Have been releasedἈπολελύσθαιcouldἐδύνατοtheὁmanἄνθρωποςthisοὗτοςifεἰnotμὴhe had appealedἐπεκέκλητοto CaesarΚαίσαρα.
