Acts 22:24

24Orderedἐκέλευσενtheὁcommanderχιλίαρχοςto be broughtεἰσάγεσθαιhimαὐτὸνintoεἰςtheτὴνbarracksπαρεμβολήν,having directedεἴπαςby floggingμάστιξινto be examinedἀνετάζεσθαιhimαὐτὸνso thatἵναhe might knowἐπιγνῷforδι’whatἣνcauseαἰτίανlike thisοὕτωςthey were crying outἐπεφώνουνagainst himαὐτῷ.

the commander ordered him to be brought into the barracks, having directed him to be examined by flogging, so that he might know for what cause they were crying out against him like this.
