1 Timothy 4

1ΤὸButδὲthe Spiritπνεῦμαexpresslyῥητῶςstatesλέγειthatὅτιinἐνlaterὑστέροιςtimesκαιροῖςwill depart fromἀποστήσονταίsomeτινεςtheτῆςfaithπίστεως,giving heedπροσέχοντεςto spiritsπνεύμασιdeceitfulπλάνοιςandκαὶteachingsδιδασκαλίαιςof demonsδαιμονίων

2inἐνhypocrisyὑποκρίσειof speakers of liesψευδολόγων,having been searedκεκαυστηριασμένωνin theτὴνownἰδίανconscienceσυνείδησιν,

3forbiddingκωλυόντωνto marryγαμεῖν,[commanding] to abstainἀπέχεσθαιfrom foodsβρωμάτωνthatἃὁGodθεὸςcreatedἔκτισενforεἰςreceptionμετάλημψινwithμετὰthanksgivingεὐχαριστίαςby theτοῖςfaithfulπιστοῖςandκαὶ[those] knowingἐπεγνωκόσιtheτὴνtruthἀλήθειαν.

4Forὅτιeveryπᾶνcreatureκτίσμαof Godθεοῦ[is] goodκαλόν,andκαὶnothing [is]οὐδὲνto be rejectedἀπόβλητονwithμετὰthanksgivingεὐχαριστίαςbeing receivedλαμβανόμενον,

5it is sanctifiedἁγιάζεταιforγὰρbyδιὰ[the] wordλόγουof Godθεοῦandκαὶprayerἐντεύξεως.

6These thingsΤαῦταlaying beforeὑποτιθέμενοςtheτοῖςbrothersἀδελφοῖςgoodκαλὸςyou will beἔσῃa servantδιάκονοςof ChristΧριστοῦJesusἸησοῦ,being nourishedἐντρεφόμενοςin theτοῖςwordsλόγοιςof theτῆςfaithπίστεωςandκαὶof theτῆςgoodκαλῆςteachingδιδασκαλίαςthatᾗyou have closely followedπαρηκολούθηκας,

7τοὺςButδὲprofaneβεβήλουςandκαὶsillyγραώδειςfablesμύθουςrefuseπαραιτοῦ.Trainγύμναζεratherδὲyourselfσεαυτὸνtoπρὸςgodlinessεὐσέβειαν·

8ἡForγὰρbodilyσωματικὴexerciseγυμνασίαofπρὸςa littleὀλίγονisἐστὶνprofitὠφέλιμος,ἡbutδὲgodlinessεὐσέβειαforπρὸςeverythingπάνταprofitableὠφέλιμόςisἐστιν,[the] promiseἐπαγγελίανholdingἔχουσαof lifeζωῆςof theτῆςpresentνῦνandκαὶof the [one]τῆςcomingμελλούσης.

9Trustworthy [is]πιστὸςtheὁsayingλόγοςandκαὶof fullπάσηςacceptanceἀποδοχῆςworthyἄξιος,

10Forεἰςthisτοῦτοforγὰρwe toilκοπιῶμενandκαὶstriveὀνειδιζόμεθα,becauseὅτιwe have hopeἠλπίκαμενonἐπὶGodθεῷ[the] livingζῶντι,whoὅςisἐστιν[the] Saviorσωτὴρof allπάντωνmenἀνθρώπων,especiallyμάλισταof believersπιστῶν.

11CommandΠαράγγελλεthese thingsταῦταandκαὶteachδίδασκε.

12No oneμηδείςyourσουτῆςyouthνεότητοςlet despiseκαταφρονείτω,butἀλλὰa patternτύποςbeγίνουfor theτῶνbelieversπιστῶνinἐνspeechλόγῳ,inἐνconductἀναστροφῇ,inἐνloveἀγάπῃ,inἐνfaithπίστει,inἐνpurityἁγνείᾳ.

13UntilἕωςI comeἔρχομαιgive heedπρόσεχεto theτῇpublic reading of Scriptureἀναγνώσει,toτῇexhortationπαρακλήσει,toτῇteachingδιδασκαλίᾳ.

14Notμὴbe negligentἀμέλειof theτοῦinἐνyouσοὶgiftχαρίσματος,whichὃwas givenἐδόθηto youσοιthroughδιὰprophecyπροφητείαςwithμετὰ[the] laying onἐπιθέσεωςof theτῶνhandsχειρῶνof theτοῦelderhoodπρεσβυτερίου.

15These thingsταῦταponderμελέτα,inἐνthemτούτοιςbe absorbedἴσθι,so thatἵναyourσουἡprogressπροκοπὴevidentφανερὰmay beᾖto allπᾶσιν·

16Give heedἔπεχεto yourselfσεαυτῷandκαὶto theτῇteachingδιδασκαλίᾳ·Continueἐπίμενεin themαὐτοῖς·thisτοῦτοforγὰρdoingποιῶνbothκαὶyourselfσεαυτὸνyou will saveσώσειςandκαὶthoseτοὺςhearingἀκούοντάςyouσου.
