Matthew 18

1InἘνthatἐκείνῃτῇhourὥρᾳcameπροσῆλθονtheοἱdisciplesμαθηταὶτῷto JesusἸησοῦsayingλέγοντες·WhoΤίςthenἄρα[the] greatestμείζωνisἐστὶνinἐνtheτῇkingdomβασιλείᾳof theτῶνheavensοὐρανῶν;

2Andκαὶhaving called to [Him]προσκαλεσάμενοςa childπαιδίονHe setἔστησενitαὐτὸinἐνmidstμέσῳof themαὐτῶν

3andκαὶsaidεἶπεν·TrulyἈμὴνI sayλέγωto youὑμῖν,ifἐὰνnotμὴyou turnστραφῆτεandκαὶbecomeγένησθεasὡςtheτὰlittle childrenπαιδία,noοὐnotμὴshall you enterεἰσέλθητεintoεἰςtheτὴνkingdomβασιλείανof theτῶνheavensοὐρανῶν.

4Whoeverὅστιςthereforeοὖνwill humbleταπεινώσειhimselfἑαυτὸνasὡςtheτὸlittle childπαιδίονthisτοῦτο,heοὗτόςisἐστινtheὁgreatestμείζωνinἐνtheτῇkingdomβασιλείᾳof theτῶνheavensοὐρανῶν·

5Andκαὶwhoeverὃςifἐὰνshall receiveδέξηταιoneἓνlittle childπαιδίονsuchτοιοῦτοinἐπὶtheτῷnameὀνόματίof Meμου,Meἐμὲreceivesδέχεται.

6WhoeverὋςthenδ’ἂνshall cause to stumbleσκανδαλίσῃoneἕναof theτῶνlittle onesμικρῶνof theseτούτωντῶνbelievingπιστευόντωνinεἰςMeἐμέ,it is betterσυμφέρειfor himαὐτῷthatἵναshould be hungκρεμασθῇa millstoneμύλοςheavyὀνικὸςonεἰςtheτὸνneckτράχηλονof himαὐτοῦandκαὶhe be sunkκαταποντισθῇinἐνtheτῷdepthπελάγειof theτῆςseaθαλάσσης.

7Woeοὐαὶto theτῷworldκόσμῳbecause ofἀπὸtheτῶνcauses of sinσκανδάλων·Necessary [are]ἀνάγκηforγὰρto comeἐλθεῖνtheτὰstumbling blocksσκάνδαλα,butπλὴνwoeοὐαὶto theτῷmanἀνθρώπῳbyδι’whomοὗtheτὸoffenseσκάνδαλονcomesἔρχεται.

8IfΕἰnowδὲtheἡhandχείρof youσουorἢtheὁfootπούςof youσουcauses to sinσκανδαλίζειyouσε,cut offἔκκοψονitαὐτὸνandκαὶcast [it]βάλεfromἀπὸyouσοῦ·betterκαλόνfor youσοίit isἐστινto enterεἰσελθεῖνintoεἰςτὴνlifeζωὴνcrippledκυλλὸνorἢlameχωλόν,thanἢtwoδύοhandsχεῖραςorἢtwoδύοfeetπόδαςhavingἔχονταto be castβληθῆναιintoεἰςtheτὸfireπῦρτὸeternalαἰώνιον.

9Andκαὶifεἰtheὁeyeὀφθαλμόςof youσουcauses to sinσκανδαλίζειyouσε,gouge outἔξελεitαὐτὸνandκαὶcast [it]βάλεfromἀπὸyouσοῦ·betterκαλόνfor youσοίit isἐστινone-eyedμονόφθαλμονintoεἰςτὴνlifeζωὴνto enterεἰσελθεῖν,thanἢtwoδύοeyesὀφθαλμοὺςhavingἔχονταto be castβληθῆναιintoεἰςtheτὴνhellγέεννανof theτοῦfireπυρός.

10See [that]Ὁρᾶτεnotμὴyou despiseκαταφρονήσητεoneἑνὸςof theτῶνlittle onesμικρῶνof theseτούτων,I sayλέγωforγὰρto youὑμῖνthatὅτιtheοἱangelsἄγγελοιof themαὐτῶνinἐν[the] heavensοὐρανοῖςcontinuallyδιὰalwaysπαντὸςbeholdβλέπουσιtheτὸfaceπρόσωπονof theτοῦFatherπατρόςof meμουwho [is]τοῦinἐν[the] heavensοὐρανοῖς.

12Whatτίyouὑμῖνdo thinkδοκεῖ;Ifἐὰνthere should beγένηταίto anyτινιmanἀνθρώπῳa hundredἑκατὸνsheepπρόβαταandκαὶhas gone astrayπλανηθῇoneἓνofἐξthemαὐτῶν,notοὐχὶwill he leaveἀφήσειtheτὰninetyἐνενήκονταnineἐννέαonἐπὶtheτὰmountainsὄρηandκαὶhaving goneπορευθεὶςseekζητεῖthe [one]τὸgoing astrayπλανώμενον;

13Andκαὶifἐὰνhe shouldγένηταιfindεὑρεῖνitαὐτό,trulyἀμὴνI sayλέγωto youὑμῖνthatὅτιhe rejoicesχαίρειoverἐπ’itαὐτῷmoreμᾶλλονthanἢoverἐπὶtheτοῖςninetyἐνενήκονταnineἐννέατοῖςnotμὴhaving gone astrayπεπλανημένοις.

14Thusοὕτωςnotοὐκit isἔστιν[the] willθέλημαofἔμπροσθενtheτοῦFatherπατρὸςof youὑμῶνwho [is]τοῦinἐν[the] heavensοὐρανοῖςthatἵναshould perishἀπόληταιoneἓνof theτῶνlittle onesμικρῶνof theseτούτων.

15IfἘὰνnowδὲsinsἁμαρτήσῃagainstεἰςyouσὲtheὁbrotherἀδελφόςof youσου,goὕπαγεreproveἔλεγξονhimαὐτὸνbetweenμεταξὺyouσοῦandκαὶhimαὐτοῦaloneμόνου.Ifἐάνyouσουhe will hearἀκούσῃ,you have gainedἐκέρδησαςtheτὸνbrotherἀδελφόνof youσου·

16Ifἐὰνhoweverδὲnotμὴhe will hearἀκούσῃ,takeπαράλαβεwithμετὰyouσοῦmoreἔτιoneἕναorἢtwoδύο,thatἵναuponἐπὶ[the] testimonyστόματοςof twoδύοwitnessesμαρτύρωνorἢof threeτριῶνmay be strengthenedσταθῇeveryπᾶνwordῥῆμα·

17Ifἐὰνnowδὲhe fails to listenπαρακούσῃto themαὐτῶν,tell [it]εἰπὸνto theτῇchurchἐκκλησίᾳ·Ifἐὰνnowδὲalsoκαὶto theτῆςchurchἐκκλησίαςhe fails to listenπαρακούσῃ,let him beἔστωto youσοιasὥσπερtheὁpaganἐθνικὸςandκαὶtheὁtax collectorτελώνης.

18TrulyἀμὴνI sayλέγωto youὑμῖν,how manyὅσαifἐὰνyou shall bindδήσητεonἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆςshall have beenἔσταιboundδεδεμέναinἐνheavenοὐρανῷandκαὶhow manyὅσαifἐὰνyou shall looseλύσητεonἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆςshall have beenἔσταιloosedλελυμέναinἐνheavenοὐρανῷ.

19AgainΠάλινtrulyἀμὴνI sayλέγωto youὑμῖνthatὅτιifἐὰνtwoδύοmight agreeσυμφωνήσωσινofἐξyouὑμῶνonἐπὶtheτῆςearthγῆςconcerningπερὶanyπαντὸςmatterπράγματοςthatοὗifἐὰνthey shall askαἰτήσωνται,it will be doneγενήσεταιfor themαὐτοῖςbyπαρὰtheτοῦFatherπατρόςof Meμουwho [is]τοῦinἐν[the] heavensοὐρανοῖς.

20Whereοὗforγάρareεἰσινtwoδύοorἢthreeτρεῖςgathered togetherσυνηγμένοιuntoεἰςτὸMyἐμὸνnameὄνομα,thereἐκεῖam Iεἰμιinἐν[the] midstμέσῳof themαὐτῶν.

21ThenΤότεhaving comeπροσελθὼνto HimαὐτῷὁPeterΠέτροςsaidεἶπεν·LordΚύριε,how oftenποσάκιςwill sinἁμαρτήσειagainstεἰςmeἐμὲtheὁbrotherἀδελφόςof meμουandκαὶI will forgiveἀφήσωhimαὐτῷ;Up toἕωςseven timesἑπτάκις;

22Saysλέγειto himαὐτῷὁJesusἸησοῦς·NotΟὐI sayλέγωto youσοιup toἕωςseven timesἑπτάκιςbutἀλλὰup toἕωςseventy timesἑβδομηκοντάκιςsevenἑπτά.

23Because ofΔιὰthisτοῦτοhas become likeὡμοιώθηtheἡkingdomβασιλείαof theτῶνheavensοὐρανῶνto a manἀνθρώπῳa kingβασιλεῖwhoὃςdesiredἠθέλησενto settleσυνᾶραιaccountsλόγονwithμετὰtheτῶνservantsδούλωνof himαὐτοῦ·

24Having begunἀρξαμένουthenδὲheαὐτοῦto settleσυναίρεινbroughtπροσηνέχθηto himαὐτῷoneεἷςa debtorὀφειλέτηςof ten thousandμυρίωνtalentsταλάντων.

25Nothingμὴhavingἔχοντοςnowδὲheαὐτοῦto payἀποδοῦναιcommandedἐκέλευσενhimαὐτὸνtheὁmasterκύριοςto be soldπραθῆναιandκαὶtheτὴνwifeγυναῖκαandκαὶtheτὰchildrenτέκναandκαὶallπάνταas many asὅσαhe hadἔχειandκαὶpayment to be madeἀποδοθῆναι.

26Having fallen downπεσὼνthereforeοὖνtheὁservantδοῦλοςwas bowing on his kneesπροσεκύνειto himαὐτῷsayingλέγων·Have patienceΜακροθύμησονwithἐπ’meἐμοί,andκαὶallπάνταI will payἀποδώσωto youσοι.

27Having been moved with compassionσπλαγχνισθεὶςnowδὲtheὁmasterκύριοςof theτοῦservantδούλουthatἐκείνουreleasedἀπέλυσενhimαὐτόν,andκαὶtheτὸdebtδάνειονforgaveἀφῆκενhimαὐτῷ.

28Having gone outἐξελθὼνhoweverδὲtheὁservantδοῦλοςsameἐκεῖνοςfoundεὗρενoneἕναtheτῶνfellow servantsσυνδούλωνof himαὐτοῦwhoὃςwas owingὤφειλενhimαὐτῷa hundredἑκατὸνdenariiδηνάρια,andκαὶhaving seizedκρατήσαςhimαὐτὸνhe was throttling [him]ἔπνιγενsayingλέγων·PayἈπόδοςifεἴanyτιyou oweὀφείλεις.

29Having fallen downπεσὼνthereforeοὖνtheὁfellow servantσύνδουλοςof himαὐτοῦwas beggingπαρεκάλειhimαὐτὸνsayingλέγων·Have patienceΜακροθύμησονwithἐπ’meἐμοί,andκαὶI will payἀποδώσωyouσοι.

30ὁButδὲnotοὐκhe was willingἤθελεν,ratherἀλλὰhaving goneἀπελθὼνhe castἔβαλενhimαὐτὸνintoεἰςprisonφυλακὴνuntilἕωςοὗhe should payἀποδῷthat whichτὸwas owingὀφειλόμενον.

31Having seenἰδόντεςthereforeοὖνtheοἱfellow servantsσύνδουλοιof himαὐτοῦthe thingsτὰhaving taken placeγενόμεναthey were grievedἐλυπήθησανdeeplyσφόδρα,andκαὶhaving goneἐλθόντεςnarratedδιεσάφησανtoτῷmasterκυρίῳof themselvesἑαυτῶνallπάνταthatτὰhaving taken placeγενόμενα.

32Thenτότεhaving called toπροσκαλεσάμενοςhimαὐτὸνtheὁmasterκύριοςof himαὐτοῦsaysλέγειto himαὐτῷ·ServantΔοῦλεevilπονηρέ,allπᾶσανtheτὴνdebtὀφειλὴνthatἐκείνηνI forgaveἀφῆκάyouσοι,becauseἐπεὶyou beggedπαρεκάλεσάςmeμε·

33Notοὐκdid it behooveἔδειalsoκαὶyouσὲto have pitiedἐλεῆσαιtheτὸνfellow servantσύνδουλόνof youσου,asὡςalso Iκἀγὼyouσὲhad pitiedἠλέησα;

34Andκαὶhaving been angryὀργισθεὶςtheὁmasterκύριοςof himαὐτοῦdeliveredπαρέδωκενhimαὐτὸνto theτοῖςjailersβασανισταῖςuntilἕωςthatοὗhe should payἀποδῷallπᾶντὸbeing owedὀφειλόμενον.

35ThusΟὕτωςalsoκαὶtheὁFatherπατήρof MeμουὁHeavenlyοὐράνιοςwill doποιήσειto youὑμῖνifἐὰνnotμὴyou forgiveἀφῆτεeachἕκαστοςtheτῷbrotherἀδελφῷof himαὐτοῦfromἀπὸtheτῶνheartκαρδιῶνof youὑμῶν.
