Ephesians 4

1ExhortΠαρακαλῶthereforeοὖνyouὑμᾶςIἐγὼtheὁprisonerδέσμιοςinἐν[the] Lordκυρίῳworthilyἀξίωςto walkπεριπατῆσαιof theτῆςcallingκλήσεωςto whichἧςyou were calledἐκλήθητε,

2withμετὰallπάσηςhumilityταπεινοφροσύνηςandκαὶgentlenessπραΰτητος,withμετὰpatienceμακροθυμίας,bearing withἀνεχόμενοιone anotherἀλλήλωνinἐνloveἀγάπῃ,

3being diligentσπουδάζοντεςto keepτηρεῖνtheτὴνunityἑνότηταof theτοῦSpiritπνεύματοςinἐνtheτῷbondσυνδέσμῳτῆςof peaceεἰρήνης·

4oneἓνbodyσῶμαandκαὶoneἓνSpiritπνεῦμα,just asκαθὼςalsoκαὶyou were calledἐκλήθητεintoἐνoneμιᾷhopeἐλπίδιof theτῆςcallingκλήσεωςof youὑμῶν·

5oneεἷςLordκύριος,oneμίαfaithπίστις,oneἓνbaptismβάπτισμα·

6oneεἷςGodθεὸςandκαὶFatherπατὴρof allπάντων,who [is]ὁoverἐπὶallπάντωνandκαὶthroughδιὰallπάντωνandκαὶinἐνallπᾶσιν.

7OneἙνὶnowδὲto eachἑκάστῳof usἡμῶνhas been givenἐδόθηἡgraceχάριςaccording toκατὰtheτὸmeasureμέτρονof theτῆςgiftδωρεᾶςτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦ.

8Thereforeδιὸit saysλέγει·Having ascendedἈναβὰςonεἰςhighὕψοςHe led captiveᾐχμαλώτευσενcaptivityαἰχμαλωσίαν,gaveἔδωκενgiftsδόματατοῖςto menἀνθρώποις.

9τὸAndδὲHe ascendedἈνέβηwhatτίisἐστινifεἰnotμὴthatὅτιalsoκαὶHe descendedκατέβηintoεἰςtheτὰlowerκατώτεραregionsμέρηof theτῆςearthγῆς;

10The [One]ὁhaving descendedκαταβὰςthe sameαὐτόςisἐστινalsoκαὶ[one]ὁhaving ascendedἀναβὰςaboveὑπεράνωallπάντωνtheτῶνheavensοὐρανῶν,so thatἵναHe might fillπληρώσῃτὰall thingsπάντα.

11AndκαὶHeαὐτὸςgaveἔδωκενsomeτοὺςindeedμὲν[to be] apostlesἀποστόλους,someτοὺςnowδὲprophetsπροφήτας,someτοὺςnowδὲevangelistsεὐαγγελιστάς,someτοὺςnowδὲshepherdsποιμέναςandκαὶteachersδιδασκάλους,

12towardπρὸςtheτὸνperfectingκαταρτισμὸνof theτῶνsaintsἁγίωνforεἰς[the] workἔργονof ministryδιακονίας,forεἰς[the] building upοἰκοδομὴνof theτοῦbodyσώματοςτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦ,

13untilμέχριwe may attainκαταντήσωμενοἱallπάντεςtoεἰςtheτὴνunityἑνότηταof theτῆςfaithπίστεωςandκαὶof theτῆςknowledgeἐπιγνώσεωςof theτοῦSonυἱοῦτοῦof Godθεοῦ,untoεἰςa manἄνδραa completeτέλειον,toεἰς[the] measureμέτρονof [the] statureἡλικίαςof theτοῦfullnessπληρώματοςτοῦof ChristΧριστοῦ,

14so thatἵναno longerμηκέτιwe might beὦμενinfantsνήπιοι,being tossed by wavesκλυδωνιζόμενοιandκαὶbeing carried aboutπεριφερόμενοιby everyπαντὶwindἀνέμῳτῆςof teachingδιδασκαλίαςinἐνtheτῇcunningκυβείᾳτῶνof menἀνθρώπωνinἐνcraftinessπανουργίᾳwith a view toπρὸςtheτὴνschemingμεθοδείαντῆςof deceitπλάνης,

15Speaking the truthἀληθεύοντεςhoweverδὲinἐνloveἀγάπῃwe should grow upαὐξήσωμενintoεἰςHimαὐτὸνinτὰall thingsπάντα,whoὅςisἐστινtheἡheadκεφαλή,ChristΧριστός,

16fromἐξwhomοὗallπᾶνtheτὸbodyσῶμαbeing joined togetherσυναρμολογούμενονandκαὶbeing held togetherσυμβιβαζόμενονbyδιὰeveryπάσηςligamentἁφῆςof [its]τῆςsupplyἐπιχορηγίαςaccording toκατ’[the] workingἐνέργειανinἐν[the] measureμέτρῳindividualἑνὸςof eachἑκάστουpartμέρουςtheτὴνincreaseαὔξησινof theτοῦbodyσώματοςmakes for itselfποιεῖταιtoεἰς[the] building upοἰκοδομὴνof itselfἑαυτοῦinἐνloveἀγάπῃ.

17ThisΤοῦτοthereforeοὖνI sayλέγωandκαὶtestifyμαρτύρομαιinἐν[the] Lordκυρίῳ,No longerμηκέτι[are] youὑμᾶςto walkπεριπατεῖνasκαθὼςalsoκαὶtheτὰGentilesἔθνηare walkingπεριπατεῖinἐν[the] futilityματαιότητιof theτοῦmindνοὸςof themαὐτῶν,

18being darkenedἐσκοτωμένοιin theτῇunderstandingδιανοίᾳbeingὄντες,alienated fromἀπηλλοτριωμένοιtheτῆςlifeζωῆςτοῦof Godθεοῦ,because ofδιὰtheτὴνignoranceἄγνοιαντὴνbeingοὖσανinἐνthemαὐτοῖς,on account ofδιὰtheτὴνhardnessπώρωσινof theτῆςheartκαρδίαςof themαὐτῶν,

19whoοἵτινεςhaving cast off all feelingἀπηλγηκότεςthemselvesἑαυτοὺςhave given upπαρέδωκανtoτῇsensualityἀσελγείᾳforεἰς[the] workingἐργασίανof impurityἀκαθαρσίαςallπάσηςwithἐνgreedinessπλεονεξίᾳ.

20Youὑμεῖςhoweverδὲnotοὐχthis wayοὕτωςlearnedἐμάθετετὸνChristΧριστόν,

21ifεἴindeedγεHimαὐτὸνyou have heardἠκούσατεandκαὶinἐνHimαὐτῷhave been taughtἐδιδάχθητε,just asκαθώςisἐστιν[the] truthἀλήθειαinἐντῷJesusἸησοῦ,

22Are to have put offἀποθέσθαιyouὑμᾶςconcerningκατὰtheτὴνformerπροτέρανway of lifeἀναστροφὴνtheτὸνoldπαλαιὸνmanἄνθρωπονwhichτὸνis being corruptedφθειρόμενονaccording toκατὰ[its]τὰςdesiresἐπιθυμίαςτῆςof deceitἀπάτης,

23to be renewedἀνανεοῦσθαιthenδὲin theτῷspiritπνεύματιof theτοῦmindνοὸςof youὑμῶν,

24andκαὶto have put onἐνδύσασθαιtheτὸνnewκαινὸνmanἄνθρωποντὸνaccording toκατὰGodθεὸνhaving been createdκτισθένταinἐνrighteousnessδικαιοσύνῃandκαὶholinessὁσιότητιτῆςof truthἀληθείας.

25ThereforeΔιὸhaving put offἀποθέμενοιτὸfalsehoodψεῦδοςlet speakλαλεῖτεtruthἀλήθειανeach oneἕκαστοςwithμετὰtheτοῦneighborπλησίονof himαὐτοῦ,becauseὅτιwe areἐσμὲνof one anotherἀλλήλωνmembersμέλη.

26Be angryὀργίζεσθεand yetκαὶnotμὴsinἁμαρτάνετε·Theὁsunἥλιοςnotμὴlet setἐπιδυέτωuponἐπὶangerπαροργισμῷof youὑμῶν,

27neitherμηδὲgiveδίδοτεopportunityτόπονto theτῷdevilδιαβόλῳ.

28The [one]ὁstealingκλέπτωνno longerμηκέτιlet him stealκλεπτέτω,ratherμᾶλλονhoweverδὲlet him toilκοπιάτωworkingἐργαζόμενοςwith theταῖςownἰδίαιςhandsχερσὶνwhatτὸ[is] goodἀγαθόν,so thatἵναhe may have [something]ἔχῃto impartμεταδιδόναιto the [one]τῷneedχρείανhavingἔχοντι.

29Anyπᾶςwordλόγοςunwholesomeσαπρὸςout ofἐκtheτοῦmouthστόματοςof youὑμῶνnotμὴlet go forthἐκπορευέσθω,butἀλλὰifεἴanyτιςgoodἀγαθὸςforπρὸςedificationοἰκοδομὴνof theτῆςneedχρείας,so thatἵναit may giveδῷgraceχάρινto thoseτοῖςhearingἀκούουσιν.

30AndκαὶnotμὴgrieveλυπεῖτεtheτὸSpiritπνεῦματὸHolyἅγιοντοῦof Godθεοῦ,inἐνwhomᾧyou were sealedἐσφραγίσθητεforεἰς[the] dayἡμέρανof redemptionἀπολυτρώσεως.

31Allπᾶσαbitternessπικρίαandκαὶrageθυμὸςandκαὶangerὀργὴandκαὶclamorκραυγὴandκαὶslanderβλασφημίαlet be removedἀρθήτωfromἀφ’youὑμῶνalong withσὺνallπάσῃmaliceκακίᾳ.

32Beγίνεσθεtoεἰςone anotherἀλλήλουςkindχρηστοί,tender-heartedεὔσπλαγχνοι,forgivingχαριζόμενοιeach otherἑαυτοῖςasκαθὼςalsoκαὶὁGodθεὸςinἐνChristΧριστῷforgaveἐχαρίσατοyouὑμῖν.
