8Was opposingἀνθίστατοhoweverδὲthemαὐτοῖςElymasἘλύμαςtheὁmagicianμάγος,thusοὕτωςforγὰρmeansμεθερμηνεύεταιtheτὸnameὄνομαof himαὐτοῦ,seekingζητῶνto turn awayδιαστρέψαιtheτὸνproconsulἀνθύπατονfromἀπὸtheτῆςfaithπίστεως.

But Elymas the magician (for his name is translated thus) was opposing them, seeking to turn away the proconsul from the faith.
