1 John 4:10

10Inἐνthisτούτῳisἐστὶνἡloveἀγάπη,notοὐχthatὅτιweἡμεῖςlovedἠγαπήκαμεντὸνGodθεόν,butἀλλ’thatὅτιHeαὐτὸςlovedἠγάπησενusἡμᾶςandκαὶsentἀπέστειλενtheτὸνSonυἱὸνof Himαὐτοῦ[as] a propitiationἱλασμὸνforπερὶtheτῶνsinsἁμαρτιῶνof usἡμῶν.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son [as] a propitiation for our sins.
